Fight to keep him, yes. But again, if he doesn't want to be here well we need to move on. We have to focus on the future. Would I like him to be in our future, yes. If Muamba's agent holds the Bombers up for ranson or as leverage to get more money off another team then let him go. We can easily replace a Canadian MLB with an American without missing a beat. On the OL, losing a Canadian like Labatte hurts a lot more than if we lost Muamba as the OL is considered a Canadian position & MLB an American one. You build your Canadian talent from the OL out... This is outdated thinking. There are quality NIs at all positions. You can easily replace a Canadian at OL with an american just as much as you can at LB. You identify your best NIs and build your ratio around that it doesn't really matter what position they play. Yes, but it's not outdated thinking. How can it be outdated? It's reality. We have a ratio & there's no getting around it. CFL teams generally go with 7 Canadian starters on O & D. What we do is start our 7 best & go from there. Where is it written in stone one of our 7 best Canadian starters has to be at MLB? What Henoc Muamba brings to the table is the fact that since he can play MLB which is generally an American position so it frees up an American somewhere else. That is why he is so valuable. But not valuable enough to want the kind of $$$ he may be asking for. Now if the salary cap is raised significantly then if we can fit in his demands financially then yes try to sign him. As far as replacing Canadians on the OL with Americans it isn't easy. Again, it affects the ratio. For every extra American starting on the OL an American starter has to sit out. So, JJ for example may have to sit & Cauchy Muamba goes back in at safety. Maybe Terrence Edwards sits & is replaced with a Canadian receiver. Our secondary may lose an American starter. Having 3 Americans on the OL is a serious problem as it creates a domino effect with the entire roster. It's not good at all & Burke is stupid to do it. As an emergency for maybe one game, sure... But if he thinks that'll make us better in the long run then like I say the man is stupid. . wow did you miss the point... the point is that it doesn't matter what a traditional NI spot is anymore! it matters that your NIs can play and a MLB that can play is as valuable as an OL that can play and both can be replaced by an american just as easily as the other if you're looking at losing one. Where is it written in stone that you need 3 or 4 or 5 NIs on the o-line?

yeah but I think most of the issues crop up with the thoughts that it's starting a chain reaction across the roster that sees other areas get weaker just in the hopes that this actually works to get the offense rolling.
-
I think this is the best case scenario when we needed an extra NI starter anyway! I don't know that Ford is all that, so if we're looking for the best balance in the roster I think Volny and Wild starting is a much better use of the roster than Labbe and Ford starting.

Muamba is valuable because he's the best NI on the team not because he's the best LB in the league. You lose one of your best NIs you're hurting, especially when you already don't have the real high end NIs to start with.

yeah it's an intriguing time for potential FA for sure. Adding Ottawa to the mix automatically raises a lot of players value alone.

Since they won't fire him Burke should just go sit quietly in the corner and not say anything unless it's the occasional slap upside the head to Creehan to keep him from going full *****.
-
I've been wondering that for some time now. No one has really gotten better under him
-
nope burke thinks this is the key to winning, get the run game going all the problems are solved, 60 points on offense here we come. Burke is the biggest goof employed by this team this season and he's the last to be fired, go figure.
-
everyone except for a few qbs out there are easily replaced in some fashion.
-
It's the CFL, there's so few players period that teams REALLY need for the long term.
-
No one said he'd do it maliciously. Desperation can lead to a lot of stupid decisions though, that is the concern.
-
Desperate people with nothing to lose like Burke can wind up doing stupid things in a crazy attempt to save their job, that`s the concern with letting him stay on when the year is already a write off.
-
yeah why not take out ian wild who has been playing fantastically? **** I hate Tim Burke.

guys with that much experience and some physical skills get cut and not picked up when there's a new team coming in and suddenly the marginal NIs have so much increased value just based on the increase in new jobs? No I don't think so. -

having a Ricky Ray would make a lot of other pieces look better too....

Hey I'm just saying you all walk around acting like he knows nothing about talent. Now whether he is willing to pay whatever it takes that's another matter entirely. All I've ever done is provided a counter balance to the massively over reacting opinions that get thrown out as facts around this place.

I don't buy that it's a pile of crud for players. There's a hell of a lot of talent on the defense there that the coaches are utterly failing to get the most out of week in and week out. We've seen what they can do in week 2 and in the banjo bowl with proper coaching, it's damned impressive, but most weeks they're lost, that's a lack of clear direction from the coaches. I know full well who hired Burke and I've been talking about that being an issue for longer than anyone else, but to simply say the talent isn't there is a fallacy. There's talent there, the coaches aren't getting the most out of it, not even close. I can make a guess that these tackles didn't just pop up out of nowhere simply because the scouting system hasn't changed through it all. It's a pretty safe assumption that these same scouts would have presented these same players to whoever the GM was. Once you put down the haterade you're drinking and look at things objectively you might stop blaming absolutely everyone on this false notion that Joe Mack couldn't and wouldn't bring in any talent worth a damn.

well he also had 7 catches for 64 yards.... I'm saying that picking ford over garrett was a mistake, I stand by it simply because Ford is so one dimensional as a player.

see, it's still funny. You all hate the man so much and talk about him like he's a complete tool when it comes to players but you all have the same wishlist for players he did.

The absolute funniest part to me, is that the GM we fired was rumoured to be close to acquiring Collaros and now everyone is simultaneously jumping on the "we must get Collaros" bandwagon all the while still continually crapping on that GM nonstop.

oh burke is plenty smart, he's just a complete failure as a head coach.
