  1. the point is that if they'd kept Garrett he'd have been able to play the past 2 weeks because he's a better option at RB in my opinion than Ford is. This team needs all the RB help it can get to have a chance and Ford just isn't cutting it. Yup...Ford is really supposed to cut it with a band aid offensive line! that sound you may have heard is the point zooming way over your head. Garrett is much more versatile and better at running when there's less blocking. He helps more with a poor o-line than ford does. Better runner in traffic, better hands I think, two things that could immensely help the team in it's current state. Ford is a good chance of pace guy but as an every down back he's limited.
  2. sounds a lot like the logic Eric Tillman was using.. how'd that work out?

  4. It's not a Mack vs. Walters thing though, I'm simply saying that Mack takes far far more **** than he should be while Walters is in a honey moon phase where nothing he does is bad.... except that if we look at it objectively maybe it's not really all winners and there's a lot of "meh" in there.
  5. Not really, Garrett didn't show enough in camp after his injury, we have another RB in camp now who looked good with the Vikes, and on film he showed enough to be kept around the team, it's pretty obvious that Crowotn and Burke liked Ford, but perhaps the old GM liked Garrett better and that's why he was kept cause he knew if we needed a rb he was a better choice? Having a new guy brought in hasn't helped the last couple games we've had to play without SImpson.
  6. yeah and Burke was a hell of a DC, but we did get a chance to look at what Burke was all about as a HC last season, there were lots of red flags, not looking at those red flags and deciding to look at all potential candidates in the offseason was a huge mistake, easily the biggest by far. Was easy to over look the Lapo hiring just because Mack was freshly back to the CFL, but striking out a second time on the head coaching hire is pretty damned unforgiving. Burke should have been the first person fired from this team, but GMs don't get the chance to fire a head coach in 2 consecutive seasons so Mack was first to go, doesn't mean Burke wasn't the biggest misstep he made.
  7. AINEC. Seriously anyone taking any qb over Ray is an idiot let alone one who hasn't done anything in the league yet.
  8. bah Tim Burke loves his athletes as well, case in point all the raving he did about Cauchy Muamba in preseason, specifically his athleticism. All the raving he did about Markett, specifically the athleticism, all the raving he did about Goltz, specifically the athleticism. Hell remember that Goltz didn't get his own special package in the offense until Burke took over... All this blaming Mack for Goltz is ridiculous when Goltz biggest and most vocal supporter was Tim Burke, until Goltz had some bad stretches of play, then Burke was pretty quick to turn on him. Course Burke is a smart guy, he knows that the fired GM is a great scapegoat so he can try and buy himself some breathing room by joining in on the piling on.
  9. Walters is looking good because Mack was asleep at the wheel... Walters found import tackles and signed some castoffs - but all GMs (except Mack) do that... I would agree that the jury is still out - i.e. Bo Smith, Levi Brown, etc... However, I do think that Walters ends up as our full-time GM - there is such a tiny window to sign Collaros or anyone before the Ottawa draft... if he gets that done, how do you fire/demote him after that? If he doesn't get it done, is there really time to get a new GM in place before free agency? If Higgins or someone is available, they would have to be in here by mid-December at the latest. Chances are Mack would have brought in the same tackles just because it's the scouting that finds players and we have the same scouts, other than that Kelly is the only guy Walters has brought in that has made an actual impact so far. People are freaking out cause the guy said the right things and brought in a couple bodies, but Mack brought in bodies when he needed them too, just tended to be from a different source. The amount of crap that Mack gets thrown at him is too damned high and because he made such a good scape goat Walters has a pretty easy job. Never mind that the biggest mistake is still there (Burke) and the team still has no life and still regularly gets out coached and continually shows no signs of life.
  10. best offer he gets + $1
  11. So here's another thing that should be brought up... I know everyone is loving Walters right now but don't we raise an eyebrow having to use a guy like Ford at rb right now when Garrett would in my mind anyway be a better option for the team as a full time starter? Seems that maybe they were too quick to cut the guy.
  12. as good as muamba is I just don't see him having the kind of trade value that makes it worth shipping him out. Ship him out and you have no chance of getting him back as a FA, at least there's still the chance now that you can re-sign him just because I think the Bomber would be willing to pay more than any other CFL team.
  13. decisions like taking a knee or going for it would come from the head coach unless you are running a real disfunctional team.
  14. ehh I'd rather just start tampering and let Collaros know that he doesn't have to sign anywhere for next year until he's heard the Bombers out.
  15. The absolute bottom line is that you can not win if you don't try and win, and taking a knee rather than trying to win is something I never want to see from a coach. If you have no faith in your offense with 26 seconds in regulation why on earth do you have faith in them in OT? It sends a terrible message and the results are what we saw. There's no loser point in OT, might as well have tried to win in regulation.
  16. this assumes anyone wants to give your anything worth a damn for an upcoming free agent who is pretty publically looking to get paid. Story is that the Bombers have offered him huge money already but he's still set on testing the market. Remember his agent is an epic level douchebag.
  17. Give me a break. Such a double standard lol Burke was the biggest mistake Mack made so even if Penton wants to slam Mack start with the #1 issues, terrible at picking head coaches.
  18. Everything I've heard from all parties on the situation, including the pregame interview Irving had with Henoc seems like the guy just wants to get paid and that his agent has convinced him there's some big time dollar bills out there to go get.
  19. it's already disastrous
  20. hiring him would be no different than hiring Lapo. We can do better. What's with the hate-on for Bellefuille? Who else is out there? And don't say Greg Marshall. There are a lot of people out there. Dave Dickenson, Tom Higgins, any number of assistants throughout the league. Bellefool had a shot at head coach and he peaked at painfully average, we can do better. Not being Gary Crowton isn't any kind of endorsement of his abilities as a coach.

cause he's a lousy coach as proven by his past experiences? Not like the offense did anything outside of the first quarter last night, that reflects on the coaching as much as it does the players. Edmonton made adjustments our offensive staff did nothing to counter those adjustments.

He's better than what we had. If he's not using Crowton's stuff, then there's no way the O can be very deep right now. He is better. Not long term please, but better. That is, with Hall at QB. We're running a better variety of plays (though limited). Our O is putrid and limited, especially with two new starting tackles and a new guard. But c'mon, who would have possibly thought we'd be moving the ball as well as we did in the opening of the game? First downs, rushing TD, passing TD and generally a CFL offence. The difference between what Hall brought us and what Goltz has shown is like 1st and 3rd downs. Hall may not be the long term answer, but he can stick around. Goltz? Don't see how he can stick around in any capacity. I'd like to see what we have in Boltus and especially Brown. We ain't got no more time for this year...let's see what we have in the pen. Is Hall doing any better than Elliott did last season? Seems to me that Halls big problem is that he can turn the ball over more than you like to see... We actually did move the ball pretty well in some games last season with Crowton and Elliott. I just don't see Bellefeuille as being any better. I understand that they had to fire Crowton, but expecting bellefool to fix things, sorry but that's not very inspiring. Then to hear Burke talk about him like he's some kind of guru... get ******.

it's not even about experience, there's lots of first time head coaches have success, you just need to hire people who are capable of doing the job, Burke has never been capable of being a HC. it was obvious last season, why we just handed the job to him I will never understand.
  25. But at least we could say we tried. In throwing that ball you have a percentage whatever that is with Goltz, taking a knee you have zero. I would even venture to say going for it gave us a better chance than hoping we could beat them in overtime. We had scored 7 points in three quarters. I know, it's easy to be a Saturday morning coach. if they try and fail then it's the players fault for not executing, not even trying is all Burkes fault.
