ho hum a drive by smear job. GM doesn't release qbs until he sees who he can and can't get is not some huge blunder that this article tries to paint it as.

Got a little bit to finish up at work before I can haul ass to a TV and some whiskys for the game, this sums up my waiting until I can leave quite nicely. -
Bombers moving to the West next year

as a Bomber fan I feel there is a rivalry with the whole league. I hate em all because of all the flip flopping there's grudges against everyone -

They why aren't Halls stats so obviously superior? Especially when Hall has played one of the weaker defenses while Goltz has faced some of the toughest teams.
-
why? what has he ever done to make you think he's better than Goltz? What has Hall done for that matter? Or is this simply a case of "I don't like this guy cause he's not an allstar so maybe one of the other guys is an allstar"? That statement is based solely of the fact that I think Goltz sucks. Hall showed promise when he played so Id like to see him some more. Goltz vs. Hall in the qb rating is 64.2 compared to 67.9. Not sure how that equates to one guy sucks and the other showed promise.

Anyone going to Calagary game in October.

was that the game where the bombers were wearing their white road jerseys and white pants? Yeah I think it was. Woulda been back in 2006 I think. Coldest I have ever been and not a damned thing to cheer about that game. -
Burke's comments on what Hervey said about Rottier

bah assistant coaches are the easiest things to replace. If the higher ups are worried about spending money replacing people they should look no further than themselves. No to me this is clearly Burke being the nice guy that he is and keeping people he likes personally on the staff rather than looking to replace them. -

Difficulty: Tim Burke built this coaching staff that failed so hard. Sometimes, it sure seems like your arguments are more about clearing Mack of any wrong-doing as opposed to the topic at hand. That said, I go out of my way to skewer Sleepy Joe so, hey... And anyway, why is Burke talking about Rottier at all... just get ready for the game already. Are you saying that Burke didn't put this coaching staff together? Yeah lots of them might have first come here through Lapolice, but Burke endorsed them all by keeping them. Burke and Mack did it... Mack seemed to have a lot more influence on football ops than he likely should have... they admitted he influenced the Kent cut, etc Then again, I would say Bellefuile was more of a MIller hire than anything else... who knows. We can totally hang the Creehan hiring on Burke - bad bad move - and I would add our pick of Mulumba was influenced by Creehan... too bad. At least, it seems like we have abandoned Creehan's defensive philosophy and Burke is back in control. People go too far trying to pin everything on Mack. What's more likely, that Mack insisted Burke keep Lapos offensive assistants or that Burke got along with those guys on the staff before and just opted to keep them because in his own words he knows nothing about offense? Nothing Burke has done is worth defending and I don't care what you thought of Mack, Burke has not proven to be any sort of quality head coach. Hell if you hate Mack that much it should be even easier to be tough on Burke just because Burke was the guy hand picked by Mack. -
Are those guys any more dangerous than Dressler? Besides that the Bombers zone defense is the worst thing in history and I wouldn't want to watch a game of that again.

I would contend that the Bombers in Calgary has been worse than the Labour days of late. -

have you ever known a head coach to not have the ability to hire the coaches he wants? Given all the nice things Burke said about the people he kept it's really pretty straightforward. Burke liked all these people and kept them around. -

He retained him, same thing as hiring him. Remember the "Gary could be a real good head coach in the CFL" quote? That was Burke talking about Crowton. He hired Casey Creehan, -

It's the god damned schedule makers fault! They should know better than to have the Bombers in Calgary in the fall when I'm busy with work. -

Games like the one the defense played against Montreal and the one last weekend against Saskatchewan don't happen with a roster lacking talent. When the defense shows that they can play at that high a level and they don't do it consistently and have games where they look terrible that to me falls at the feet of the coaches. Maybe they're lacking some talent on the offensive side of the ball in some areas, but the ups and downs of the defense to me is about coaching moreso than the players because we've seen the defense play at such a high level. -

No he's worse than the team around him as a head coach. He is a smart guy and might eventually wind up as a good head coach, but he's nowhere near ready for it now and he does some real puzzling things as a head coach and doesn't seem able to rally the troops. Let's not forget that his record as a head coach is 6-14 which is not good by any stretch of the imagination and many of those losses have been absolute blow outs. The blowouts didn't start happening until Burke took over mind you. Prior to that the team may have lost, but it was at least competitive which is a damned good indication of Burkes limitations as a head coach. -

Yeah and even in the heat of the moment Burke does usually refrain from throwing individuals totally under the bus, just there are some times when he does throw guys under. -

Burke is a goof we've known that for a while now. Hell of a defensive coordinator, but as a head coach no where near ready. -
Bombers moving to the West next year
17to85 replied to sweep the leg's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The only concern with revenue sharing is that it can become a crutch for poor teams and rather than work on their own markets might just say "Let the prairies pay for it" I wouldn't be opposed to revenue sharing in the CFL, it's small enough and one guy already owns 25% of the league and several other teams are community owned, but I don't wanna see a situation where a couple problem areas never get fixed because other teams are dragging them along for the ride. -

the cap goes up, the tv deal gets split 9 ways rather than 8, I don't think this is the magic bullet that makes every market so viable that people are wanting to believe it is. -
Bombers moving to the West next year
17to85 replied to sweep the leg's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
which is exactly why it's bullshit to move them now. Let's at least wait and see if any of the eastern teams get off life support before moving the Bombers yet again. -
So does that mean that the Bombers defense is part of the gang now after the number they did on Durant last weekend?

Bah they shouldn't move the Bombers until Ottawa has proven they can actually support a team. What happens if they fold again? Bombers flop divisions again? nonsense. Sounds like the CFL wants an easier road for the Ontario teams to the playoffs.
