because no one has been able to make us forget about him. You release a qb you better have someone better to take his place, that was not the case here.

This post makes my head hurt on several different levels.

but PIerce isn't the answer either and there's another thread on this very site that quite nicely illustrates how PIerce is not better than the other options. Going back to Pierce is a step back just like it was when they made that decision in the offseason. Time to cut your attachment to an obviously finished player.

Burke raved about Crowton, he even said he thought he'd be a great HC in the CFL. Too many people trying to pin everything bad on Mack. Lapo hired Crowton not Mack that is well established. Burke kept him that's well established. The mental gymnastics that some people will go through to pin everything bad on Joe Mack is just absolutely astounding.

with Buck it's much less about missing games as taking all the reps in practise and then getting hurt in the game and we have to throw a backup in there without adequate preparation and don't you dare try and say that hasn't happened this season. Pierce hasn't been better than the backup qbs and when he's always getting hurt it is THE distraction so it's high time we just get rid of the guy and move on.

And Bellefeuille did also say there were some really good things in the offense too, but sounds like a lot of simplification and just letting athletes be athletes rather than having to think on the fly all the time. I'll say this too, it is a real sad day when Bellefeuille is seen as the saviour of the offense. yuck.

We can only hope... Any head coach that doesn't take responsibility for player moves especially at qb as well as one side of the football because he says he's not qualified shouldn't be in charge. I'm gonna give Burke some slack on this one. After all, he's had to deal with Mack and Crowton. Let's see how he does with Marcel. Burke can now help Casey with the D. To me, it's a win-win. Dear Wade: Thank you! oh please, what has burke done to earn that slack? He kept Crowton around as his OC. That's as big a red flag as there is. Burke seems to be one of those people who values coaches as much for their good guy factor as their actual abilities to coach.

Liked a lot of what he was saying, especially talking about how they need to find something that they do well and can rely on.

No it's because pederson is a ***** who throws a lot of **** against the wall hoping some of it sticks.
-
for **** sakes, even in those games where he turned the ball over, he was still able to put drives together and move the offense. That's something every other qb we've used in the last 4 years has flat out struggled at the best of times to do. Like I said, the guy had some problems that to me seem like they are easier to fix then trying to make guys who can't even move the ball into better players. Hell one of the reasons Burke was so pissed at Elliott was all thos eturnovers against Calgary, has flat out said kick field goals and they win that game, so in that situation why not try and coach those mistakes out and try and get the guy to improve his habits if that's the problem? There was more to work with there than with anyone else.
-
How about a coach that is willing to try and improve a guys habits?

I said.....

I don't care which of Hall or Goltz it is, just give them a good long run to see if they will take over the team.
-
the thing that bugs me is when the public figures read something they don't like about themselves and pitch a **** fit about it. Don't want to open yourself up to that kind of criticism then stay the **** away.
-
talked with a reporter yesterday who said the coaches hate that Elliott doesn't watch film and doesn't prepare properly. Said that Tim Burke really doesn't like the guy and that's being polite about it. So, no....no JE under Tim Burke's watch... but TIm Burke is going to be relieved of his duties before next season...

why are we even posting this guys crap here? He has absolutely no clue about anything that isn't "ZOMG TEH RIDERS ROCK!!!11!!!"
-
Penton's article this morning says we should expect Pierce behind centre this week.
-
I would agree, that would be his biggest fault. But Lapo was not a bad coach. He was a rookie sure and a little high strung, but he certainly wasn't a dud. I think had Mack found him better players (esp at QB), made some decent trades, and didn't meddle with the roster, Lapo's teams would've performed a lot better. Lapo was a micromanager who coached the team too passively. Not a fan of that combination.
-
seems like teams are so focussed on the high percentage short passing game more than actually pushing things downfield these days.
-
that's cool, always good to see the good games in the CFL, much more entertaining than the **** show in Regina on Saturday.
-
if people get offended by what they read on message boards they shouldn't read message boards.

Elliotts problems were ones that were far easier to coach out in my mind than not being able to do anything right. He was at least able to move the ball, the offense showed a lot of progress towards the end of last year when he was under centre. But Burke and Crowton soured on him and didn't even want to try and work with him on the problem areas. Huge mistake simply because he was the only qb we've had in the last 4 years who has been able to put drives together.
-
I said last year and throughout the offseason that this year would tell a lot, and not because of the talent on the team but because of who got hired to coach. Macks single biggest failing as a GM was handing the team to a couple of duds at head coach (and all the issues that are brought on by that.)

Missed the game cause I was out pretending to be an athlete but checked the score in the pub afterwards and was shocked to see it was a high scoring close game. Way The edmonton Offense that good or the Toronto defense that bad or combo of both?
-
He shouldn't be a HC then should he??? I mean, someone has to be in charge. A HC always has the final say. Always except this dude. Pretty easy for Burke to defer decisions on assistants & say, "Hey, not me. I never did it.". When it blows up there's no blood on Burke. Cop out. A coach designated the OC to run the offence and pick his QB to better suit his offence. That is all that happened here. Coach Burke is wrong about many things but letting his OC choose the starting QB is was not the wrong decision IMO he's not wrong to let the OC choose the qb, he was wrong to bring it up in the media that he did it. Burke is the guy in charge, he should take ownership of every decision and not open himself up for the silly criticisms like that.
