  1. wouldn't be surprised Popp to jump at any NFL job he can get in the offseason. I don't think he wants to deal with a team needing to find a new qb. Probably get out while the getting is good and leave some other sap to fix that.
  2. then bring it to the board at a meeting not 5 days in advance and expect them to keep it a secret. That's the issue here. I haven't been one of the anti-Buchko people ever, but this is just a terrible way to run a team.
  3. listen to Bob Irvings thoughts on the subject, he outlines it quite well. As in, if you're going to fire Joe Mack, bloody fire Joe Mack, don't expect the BoD to keep things quiet for nearly a week when you know they talk to the media a lot. No one said a word to Mack about this according to Irving as well. That all falls at the feet of Buchko and he should be fired on the spot for such an unprofessional display.
  4. who's cheering for toronto? I'm cheering for Montreal to get absolutely steam rolled. who is doing it doesn't matter.
  5. you know what they should do? totally clean house. Fire buchko as well and then hire a new CEO and let that CEO hire his own GM and then let that GM hire is HC. That way we end this bloody cycle of people inheriting people they didn't hire. If you're going to clean house then burn the thing to the ground and start from step one.
  6. based on past history, no they do not. Lack of patience is the single biggest reason the grey cup drought has stretched out as long as it has.
  7. let this game be a lesson to all you people who scream that things can't get worse if you fire people midseason.
  8. if they lost one or both Hamilton games, then it'd make sense as well because the team is in a deep hole record wise. Right now it is just the worst possible timing.
  9. with 4 of their next 6 games against Hamilton and Edmonton, very winnable games. This whole clusterfuck the board has kicked off right now is coming at the absolute worst time.
  10. There is no way they can keep Mack now. Now that this is all in the open you have to just step up and go through with it. How can you expect a GM to do his job when he knows that the CEO wants to fire him?
  11. here's the other thing that bugs me about the timing, we have 3 more games against hamilton who are a bit of a clusterfuck themselves, 2 games against Edmonton who are a clusterfuck themselves, another game against Montreal who are a clusterfuck, why not give them the rest of the year and see how it goes? Looking at that number of games and how teams have played can we really say that if the bombers made the playoffs they'd be written off playing one of those other 3 teams in the playoffs? And if you win a game there then you're one fluke away from playing for the grey cup. Just a terrible time to fire someone and then to completely botch the firing process like this.... can we resurrect Cal Murphy and hire him to run the team entirely?
  12. Fire Popp!
  13. als still suck, fire Popp.
  14. once the "sports fans" in this city get it in their heads that someone is among the best (which they thought about Burris) then they instantly get overly attached to them and won't let them go.
  15. you know you ****** up bad if Bob Irving is tearing a strip off you
  16. a lot of the issues with renting closer to down town calgary are being made worse with all the places damaged by flooding. I was always able to find something that wasn't too bad to rent before I bought my house but I never tried to live that close to the core and I was never on my own either so if you're splitting rent it's not so bad. I am going to take offense to calgary being labeled as cowboy town too, it's really not, there's far more douchebags than cowboys around.
  17. There is no doubt in my mind that we will have a new head coach next season and likely new assistants as well except maybe for a couple spots. No GM is going to come here and be saddled with these coaches. If these coaches were good enough the GM wouldn't be on his way out the door.
  18. because that's how businesses are always operated. If a big move like that is to be made it has to clear the board. I would imagine unless there's a real power play by the board that it would be more of a rubber stamp type approval anyway, at least I hope it would be. If the CEO wants to make changes then let him make changes otherwise why did you hire him?
  19. unless they come up with some way to keep calvillo from getting hit it's not going to change much. Hit him a few times AC will go into his pouting like a spoiled 5 year old form and be useless.
  20. until the bubble bursts on them and that investment is a loss.
  21. The other reason that he's not popular in calgary is cause for whatever reason a lot of people liked Burris and didn't like him being traded.
  22. deck chairs
  23. well here's something.... what is the GM hears the rumours he's being fired and decided to go out in the blaze of sour grapes and starts gutting the roster just for spite? I don't believe he'd do that, but it's the risks you take when you leak **** like that.
  24. I've come around on HIggins, not because I think he's good, but because I just think at this stage a "safe" pick like that is the way to go.
