  1. I've come around on HIggins, not because I think he's good, but because I just think at this stage a "safe" pick like that is the way to go.
  2. one thing is for certain, the next GM is walking into a hell of a lot better situation than Mack walked into in terms of the roster.
  3. so? any AGM isn't going to have GM experience either. I would think a guy like that would know how to look for head coaches and all that stuff. He knows about contract dealings and if he doesn't hire him an AGM that does. I'm not saying he's my first choice, I'm just saying he's someone who I'd look at.
  4. yeah but anyone you hire at this point is going to be a gamble
  5. I'm not convinced that he didn't have the qb thing on the right track but it got torpedoed by his coaching choices which were not good. Damned shame that cause he did a lot of great things with the roster.
  6. why not? He's already heavily involved in it in Toronto and has always seemed to be good at that aspect. It's where he wants to wind up and considering that there's not a hell of a lot of good candidates currently in the CFL I'd take that gamble.
  7. I wouldn't be opposed to Murphy if he's got the qualifications, but I would much rather see them go with a guy with some recent CFL experience. If Higgins isn't interested then guys like John Murphy or Chris Jones would be guys I would seriously consider.
  8. I said last year that if he didn't hire a good head coach for this year then it'd cost him... and Burke isn't good enough as a head coach. Can give a guy a mulligan on Lapo but 2 duds at HC is just not going to cut it. That being said, I absolutely hate the timing and this just screams trying to appease the unruly mob. What in gods name is firing the GM going to accomplish now? The season isn't a write off, there's a ton of games left against Hamilton, Edmonton and Montreal, turning things around isn't that far fetched.
  9. I'm just trying to keep some calmness and rationality in this sea of anger and knee jerk reactions nothing more.
  10. Kevin Glenn is going to be Ottawas starting quarterback, book it.
  11. The indefensible position in this debate is that PIerce is better than Goltz. It's not the case and there is nothing that backs it up. Absolutely nothing. If you think you do have something that backs it up let's hear it cause 57% vs. 60% ain't going to cut it.
  12. on this count you're correct. They need someone they can rely on to be the guy to make a play for them when they need one. I also attribute it to them not having any sort of identity as an offense. They don't know what kind of offense they are or what they do well or even what they want to do well. Figure that out and things will improve.
  13. Pierces biggest issue by far was his inability to make a decision. Hestiated to throw quickly, hesitated to pull it and run, He was playing like a rookie for gods sake.
  14. let a defense play with a lead there's less pressure on them and the other offense has to do more than play it safe and then punt and win the field position game by attrition. That's what's happening to the bombers right now. even giving up 1 first down can put the bombers in a losing situation in terms of field position over the course of a quarter or a half.
  15. you missed the biggest point here.... Goltz is better RIGHT NOW with so much less experience under his belt. Even if we go so far as to say that their passing is equal (which I don't think is the case, I think Goltz is ahead in the passing game) his massive (and it is massive at this point in their careers) edge in mobility and quickness makes him a much more dangerous and effective player than Pierce. You see we can say their accuracy is equal because it's 3 passes which for all we know is made up for in the difference in drops each has dealt with or maybe with receivers running wrong routes or something, we don't know all the ins and outs as to why passes were incomplete and for a matter of 3 passes I will give you equal (I still say the eye ball test has Goltz missing by less than Pierce when he misses) You have one stat to back up your claims which is dubious at best. TIme to concede you are mistaken and move along.
  16. But you know what the biggest difference between a good defense and a defense that can make plays and win games is? An offense that can get a lead now and then.
  17. vs. Sears who was awful at it, vs. washington who wasn't solid there either.... You see where I'm going with this? If Hefney hadn't been a whiner last year and played the position like was the plan things might have looked entirely different last season as well because some of the best games of 2011 for the defense came in games Hefney was playing SAM.
  18. so trolling it is.
  19. on the other hand the defense has been noticably different this season with Dunn and without. I would suggest that having someone who can play the SAM/Nickel position is more telling of this defense than the MLB.
  20. but in your mind he's finished right now.
  21. well it was a rather lengthy injury last year for Tate right? at that point in his career it's still easy to say that the injury was just a fluke thing. Even Pierce got the benefit of the doubt at one point.
  22. when you compare the differences in completion percentage it amounts to 3 completions different over the same number of attempts... now do you have stats for drops? Cause without them you can't really make a good comparison. Let's say this.... their completion percentage for all intents and purposes is equal. Pierce has thrown more ints (ie. more bad decisions) he has taken way way more sacks (slower decisions, less mobility) what exactly are you trying to prove in regards to this argument? Do you really think you have proven anything about the effectiveness of Pierce vs. Goltz? Goltz makes less mistakes, completes the same number of passes essentially AND adds a huge amount of mobility and makes quicker decisions. Considering that one guy is a 9 year CFL veteran and one guy has 2 career starts this really is a no contest.
  23. Not only is Goltz making better decisions than PIerce, he's making decisions way way faster. It really blows my mind how anyone can seriously look at the way Pierce played the game this season and even try and defend it
  24. hahahahahahahaha you know how I know that you're full of **** and haven't really watched Buck Pierce play the game this season?
