if anything they stuck with the run too much. BC was keying in on it and then sitting back waiting for the short pass on 2nd down and then the bombers punted.

Has Your Attitude Changed In The Last 5 Years?

you can definitely tell that the new stadium is just itching for a chance to blow up over something. It's all bubbling under the surface and as soon as there's some excitement that place is going to be crazy. -
Has Your Attitude Changed In The Last 5 Years?

you know what part of the issue is? In years past even if the team sucked you knew that you could always count on a guy like MIlt Stegall to do something to get you out of your seat. Don't have a guy like that anymore. Edwards used to be able to be a very very poor mans version but he's no spring chicken himself and not really able to be that guy anymore and none of the young guys have stepped up. Had hopes Denmark could become something but he seemed to stagnate, Matthews is have a really inconsistent year so far. Simpson can't do it all on his own when the passing game is such a let down. -
They make a lot of changes to players on the defense for reasons other than injury, I want to see them take the same steps on offense and just see what happens before we start firing people higher up the food chain. I'm very much against mid season firings unless they're doing serious damage to the roster long term, so in the situation we're in now let's have a look at what we really have for depth on the offensive side of the ball. Lots of the people starting there now are obviously not getting the job done, let's see what's up next. Put Swiston on the o-line, put someone else at RT, see if that changes anything. Let's get a good long look at someone like Doug Pierce without other guys being injured. They've stuck with the same under achieving bunch of offense for so long time to see if new players don't help. Once you see what you've got for players then let's make some decisions about the rest. Going with the backup qbs like they did is a great first step but there's other positions that they need to take the same approach with.

this is where you are incorrect. People want changes, just not the wholesale changes some people seem to be screaming for. I think the defensive coaches on this team have shown that they can make adjustments to fix problem areas... now why can't the offense do that? At this point the offense is just so dead that it sucks the life out of everything the team tries to do. We sat here watching the game and as soon as the Bombers gave up the safety to go down by 2 points we immediately said "game over, no way they can come back" That's gotta be murder on the rest of the team knowing how useless the offense is.

doubtful. You're forgetting how poorly Pierce has played this year. Goltz was by no means good enough, but PIerce has wasted better defensive efforts against worse teams this year. I think people are truthfully making more out of this loss than they should simply because it's #5. There were some positives out there without question and it wasn't that far off being a better performance. Burke wasn't totally off his rocker when he didn't come out and slam the team. He probably should have been more upset with the 2nd half offensive performance than he was, but he did have some points and I am glad to see that he is willing to be patient with a young qb. Defense had a nice bounce back after a few tough outings, not perfect, but good enough to win games in this league with some support from the other side of the ball.

I just don't understand how the offense can be that lack lustre. I was never as anti Crowton as all that, but after last nights games I might have to join those ranks. Entirely too committed to the run game I think. Just coming out and saying "we will get Simpson the ball more" doesn't work, you can't do that unless you significantly change the gameplan because teams know it's coming. It became too predictable. Seemed like they didn't even try and force things down the field at all either, and when you've been sitting there handing off and throwing short all game at some point you gotta take a shot, you've basically set up the defense to do that. Just not acceptable at all. Unfortunately I don't think there's anyone else on the staff who could be capable of actually calling an offense. -
why oh why can't both the offense and defense show up in the same games? The defense was pretty solid last night overall. definitely looked back on track there, but the offense, man oh man it just disappeared in the 2nd half. Goltz seemed to get nervous a bit and rushed things or just missed his targets but he didn't get a hell of a lot of help from his receivers either. Common theme that it seems has been bugging me for several years now, but this offense really needs an indentity quite badly. Are we a running team? A passing team? who is our go to man at receiver? when we need a big play to keep a drive going who do we turn to? These are questions that need answered I think and we need to get something built around it.

If MIke Reilly is available why the **** aren't we hiring him right ******* now?

I was under the impression that Worman was connected to the Ottawa franchise. Is he actually employed by them or just consulting or something?
-
but a lot of those issues were related to a struggling qb/offense. if a new qb shows progress there then is what the GM has done that bad? I've said it before I'll say it again, Mack isn't doing harm to the roster, he is building depth year after year, in that situation you can afford a guy more patience than if he's going full Kelly on the roster and devastating it in terms of depth.
-
no that's insane and an arbitrary number. If there is enough progress shown then I'd say it's perfectly reasonable to keep people around regardless of what the record is. Noting that progress inevitably leads to wins. 10-8 would require a 9-4 finish to the season, that's unrealistic to expect at this point.
-
but it's all the same point. I know you want Mack and Crowton gone, but I'm saying if the team shows progress with Goltz at qb why is that an indictment of those guys? Doesn't that just show that things could be on the right track? Like I said, I think you're too committed to changes to see anything else at this point.
-
but you neglected the other part of it... if the offense is progressing and Goltz is looking like a legit qb and we wind up with 8 wins on the year why do we need to blow that up? Would that not be a sign that the team is on the right track and worth building on rather than blowing it up? I think you're too committed to the idea of blowing everything up that it's clouding your ability to look at possibilities other than the team sucking the hind *** all year.

Rod Pedersen Rumour: Tillman Courted By Bombers
17to85 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
well the depth is better... but in the past we had some absolute superstars who were the best of the best that you could build around. Guys like Stegall or Roberts on the I side, Doug Brown or Labatte on the NI side. We don't have guys at that level right now, but the depth at the bottom of the roster is vastly superior. Why do we keep losing? well there does seem to be a bit of an identity crisis on the offense, what kind of team are they? what kind of quarterbacking do they get? defense seems like they have some issues in belief personally. guys trying to do too much and getting beat because of it, this is likely a by-product of the losing, they know they gotta make big plays to win a game and they're trying to hard to do that. -

the overall depth is better not just the NI depth. -
if we get an 8 win season with the offense progressing with a new qb though why do we need to blow **** up?
-
hey everyone else gets to count wins against the crappy teams why shouldn't the bombers? I'm just pointing out that people are seemingly giving up on this team and expecting a 3 win season or something.... there's more wins to be had than just that if you ask me. The level of negativity is just through the roof and it's kind of silly because it's still early enough that a turn around can happen. I mean what if the defense gets back to playing solidly and Goltz manages to keep moving the offense a bit and scoring some points?

The Other Two 1-4 Teams Face Off: Fnf Aug. 2

to me that Austin smile was more an admission that he knew he got away with one. That decision to throw the ball on 2nd down should really have cost him. Keep it on the ground and grind the clock down a bit more the esks don't even get the chance to try that last field goal. -

is boatman the best though? or was it some other reason that he's still starting? Same with Morley. See I am leaning towards the coaches not using the players properly on offense more than anything right now rather than choosing to believe that we can't recruit players properly. There's more evidence to support my side of the argument than the other one honestly. That's not downplaying anything here either. Poor coaches is pretty much the biggest mistake going because that trickles down into every other aspect of the onfield product. -
why not? they've got like 3 games against Hamilton still and 2 against Edmonton. That's 5 very winnable games right there.
-
yes, honestly I'd even give swiston a shot at RT, can't be worse.

trying nothing, I'm succeeding. -
No because they make changes all the time on defense including cutting veterans. The issues are that changes never get made on offense. This is not a manager thing, this is a coaches are reluctant to make changes on offense thing and I am curious to see how things change now that there appears to be more of a concrete plan in place at the qb position. Pierce was an issue with the never being healthy, it took reps away from the backups, he wasn't playing well all that, now that they don't have to worry about that and it possibly being an issue for the offensive struggles I expect to see a more critical eye turned to the rest of the offense from the coaches. Assuming Burke knows what the hell he's looking at there. His preference of Anderson over Denmark doesn't leave me hopeful

well specifically I was thinking of Labatte, he wasn't as good as he was previously to my eyes. I don't think January has changed at all to be honest. Douglas took a step back as well.
