  1. all I know is Harris better get himself a bloody touchdown tonight.
  2. Not sure if it's the rain but what a sloppy game so far. BC does not look good but lucky for them Montreals qbs aren't doing much of anything.
  3. I don't know why we're so focussed on Reilly anyway, Elliott and Brink were more questionable moves in my mind. Two guys that the team had invested a lot of time in who had shown varying degrees of progress.... wasted 3 years with that move.
  4. imo, maybe Mack didn't go after him hard enough and it wasn't such a slam dunk he going to EE, I mean, how do you know if you don't try? and haven't spoken to him, like you said, to find out? or Mack wisely smelled Wallys bullshit and decided not to play that game. Wally wasn't trying to do any favours to Reilly or help rival teams, he was looking out for #1 like he always does. The most logical assumption here is that Wally knew Reilly was going to Edmonton, Edmonton wanted to get it done right away rather than waiting until free agency and a possible change of mind for Reilly and Wally tried to get himself a bigger return by using Winnipeg to either get assets from them or leverage Edmonton into paying more. Say what you want about Mack but he didn't get involved in that bullshit.
  5. The point I was trying to make actually was that having a strong arm doesn't mean a guy will be a top QB. Yes Bishop and Jackson had more success that Dinwiddie but there are also QBs who weren't overly blessed with arm strength who have had a lot more success than Bishop and Jackson. Doug Flutie immediately comes to mind.
  6. The actual Walters quotes or the editorializing that was done by the author of the piece? You know what Walters said? "I don't know that there needed to be fence-mending, but certainly I made a point to touch base with everybody," little different than what you're trying to say right?
  7. I wholeheartily agree. I really hope that when the time comes to hire a GM, they keep in mind that it wasn't the concepts that Mack tried to instill that failed, it was his execution and his stubborn refusal to budge from his original plan that failed. Let's hope they don't do the "Let's hire a guy who is the complete opposite of Mack", because the last time they did that, Reinebold replaced Cal Murphy. I don't know that he was that stubborn so much as he just knew he could find talent without having to overpay. To me the biggest flaw in Macks time as GM was not getting a quality head coach in there who would hire a quality coaching staff. The two biggest things that determine success in the CFL are quarterbacking and coaching. I wonder what might have been with our quarterbacks with different coaching... guess we'll see glimpses of that starting now. They did appear more effective with Lapo around though his ultra conservative style didn't do the team any favours in terms of wins.
  8. ouch, that is a hell of a lot of important people missing.
  9. Just want to see them play quarterbacks not named Buck Pierce, that is very important for next season. Gotta see what's there.
  10. This, so much this. No need to invent things to be critical of, there's plenty of real things. This city just NEEDS a scapegoat and for the Bombers it was Mack. He was the devil himself to some people. Yeah no one is going to question his firing, his record is what it is, but let's not discredit some of the good things the guy did do.
  11. Kool aid is way better than Haterade.
  12. The top level NIs get paid, just the facts of the CFL.
  13. thank goodness they cut Logan without even letting him compete in camp Logan wasn't the answer either. He was the Jamie Stoddard of the defence. Just too slow. are you trying to convince me of something here? but I am just saying wouldn't it have been great to have some kind of competition for the position at very least?
  14. That's because the Bombers haven't played yet this week.
  15. thank goodness they cut Logan without even letting him compete in camp
  16. It was a terrible decision at the time and anyone with a clue knew it. But we had Mike Kelly coming in who was so egotistical that he just figured he'd ride into town and be the hero who dumped Glenn and won the fans over by replacing the guy who had the misfortune of following Khari Jones.
  17. just to be fair, we did hear Labattes side of things in that deal too. Labatte admitted that he didn't communicate with Winnipeg about his desire not to switch to centre.
  18. well except that PIerce wasn't good enough... They won the east final on the strength of the defense and running game. What did Pierce do in the Grey Cup game other than suck balls until garbage time? The thing that no one backing Pierce seems to want to address is that his struggles are not a new thing, he's been going downhill every since 2010 at the earliest and partway through 2011 at the latest.
  19. ahh yes the old "the guy was fired so anything bad I can automatically pin on him, FACTS DON'T LIE!" good job.
  20. well how about some context at least? Bad start in 08 for Glenn and he did improve his play later in the year, he was also coming off a MOP nomination in 2007. Pierce meanwhile was **** last year and **** this year which is pretty convincing that he's done.
  21. See now that I'd listen to cause at least there may or may not be some truth to it.
  22. and this is why you are failing to understand. The Lions never offered Reilly to WInnipeg, they offered a week or two window to negotiate with Reilly. If Reilly was legitimately interested in WInnipeg as an option why not wait until free agency? It is obvious that Reilly and Edmonton had something worked out before the Lions ever traded him. Wally being Wally tried to grift a high draft pick out of mack AND used Winnipeg to leverage something out of Edmonton. This whole situation isn't a failing on Mack, it's Wally doing what's best for Wally and suckering Hervey into his game.
  23. Because in Isos mind Reilly was the guy to fix everything and Joe Mack is the devil himself so therefore Mack just ****** up. Can't reason with people who are so commited to an idea in their head that it prevents them from seeing the truth.
  24. We'll just have to agree to disagree on that. I remember Glenn was pitiful in 2008. I just looked back at the stats from the first five games and I was right. Glenn threw 7 interceptions and 2 TD's in the first 5 games of the season that year, before Dinwiddie took over. Glenn was playing scared that year because of his broken arm, and of course he had a terrible OC. I went to a practice that year after Dinwiddie took over number one spot and I could tell Glenn just didn't care. He didn't want to be here anymore. but I don't recall Glenn every getting bogged down in the sheer number of consecutive 2 and outs that PIerce finds himself doing.
  25. We don't know the whole story & never will. Hmmm... what are the chances of a GM screwing up & making a mistake??? Overvaluing what he already has vs what he could have had if he was willing to make the move because he refuses to pay $$$ for CFL FA's.. What happened made no sense in how it went down.... I tend to think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Besides, just about everyone seemed to back Joe at the time saying Reilly was unproven & really not that good. Well, those people have their Blue Bomber qbs now. Live with it. would reilly look any better than what we have here? Would Goltz look as good as Reilly if he had been given the same rope? Would Hall? Too many unknowns right now to say that the bombers should have gifted a first round draft pick for a window to talk to a guy. If he was even remotely considering WInnipeg why wouldn't he just wait until free agency? Some of you are way way too commited to the idea that a) reilly is a saviour at qb and that winnipeg actually had much of a chance at him.
