  1. he also wasn't playing against a defense that didn't know how to make a tackle like BLM and Collaros were. Most of what Collaros did was high percentage throws let the receiver do the rest.
  2. what the hell are you talking about? No one is doing anything but telling it how it is with the sun. Penton might be an OK reporter but he's still guilty by association with that rag.
  3. everyone is going to focus on collaros tonight, but honestly the BC defense has not looked good. It's actually similar enough to what the bombers did. loose coverage, sloppy tackling. I'll throw Goltz up there with the other rookie qbs performances too, he looked solid as well, but was handicapped by that piss poor defensive showing.
  4. I suspect that they are waiting for someone to get cut from an NFL camp.
  5. boatman and morely have to be on the line since they were apparently on the line in training camp. I'd think that dbs jobs are on the line too just based on how unhappy Burke rightly is with the last couple games. Johnson that means you and maybe suber too given that he's been pretty poor the last 2 games (though I think he gets chances to rebound)
  6. did he really say that? if so it's a good move. Being able to know when you need help is a big part of being successful I think. And really I don't think it's about admitting that they have no clue so much as they want an outsider to help determine if the problem is with the way the players are prepared or if the players simply aren't good enough. If he's willing do get an outside perspective maybe there's hope that Burke can turn himself into a better coach with some time and experience. One of Mike Kellys biggest flaws was that he refused to admit that anything he did might have been the problem. If Burke is willing to say "gee maybe the problem is me" then there's hope that he can learn from that.
  7. the problem is most of the unwashed masses would start screaming that Goltz was useless if he didn't immediately start winning. Hell we already saw people ready to throw him back to the bench after his first career start.
  8. +1 for a really good analogy.
  9. I think that's cause for the most part the people who came here are the ones who are interested in at least having a discussion as opposed to having their own personal axes to grind. Far less reactionary fools around these parts.
  10. Lapo being fired wasn't the issue, the issue was when he was fired. Shoulda done it at the end of the season and shoulda done a proper coaching search after that.
  11. still less biased than you.
  12. I don't believe for a second that anything anyone says would cause people to either go to the games or not go to the games anyway. You know what puts asses in the seats? Touchdowns and lots of em, you want to get people in there then start scoring some more points and winning some games and people will show up.
  13. you gotta remember just how biased Bluto is when it comes to the bombers.
  14. that's a lie and you know it, turtling and running implies that he was highly visible in the first place. but he's not and never has been the guy who is always in the media. he does his press conferences now and then but other than that he is very much a behind the scenes worker. this is the why the media hates him so, because he doesn't talk to them and he prefers them to be in the dark about what he's doing.
  15. firing Berry and cutting Glenn outright were tremendous mistakes. Berry deserved a chance to rebound from a poor year in 2008 and we're still looking for a qb as good as Glenn was.
  16. obviously, especially when you consider how many roles he had to do bad things in. The most disgraceful thing he did was how he treated the quarterbacks. He drove the bus completely over Lefors, then he gave everyone else one chance to sink or swim or they were gone. Just disgusting way to treat players.
  17. but that's how it started with PIerce too "well anyone would have got hurt from that, he's just been unlucky" Jesse Lumsden and his dad used to say the same kinds of things. Some guys just have that bad luck with getting hurt, I'm not convinced Tate is going to be the guy to stay healthy and if I'm getting one of the veterans from Calgary I would rather it be Glenn just because you know exactly what you're getting.
  18. who gives a **** what they say honestly? It'll all be stock answers that don't tell anyone anything. They'd both give support to the people below them, they'd both give the message about working hard to improve... and you think not getting these bland generic meaningless statements actually means anything? **** the media for crying about not getting their useless sound bites. I'm more interested in what actions are taken, forget what anyone actually says.
  19. well the players obviously played for him even if it was a shitty scheme they were doing. And I think he nicely kept the pressure off of them by putting the spotlight entirely on himself. If we had a different OC running a workable offensive scheme that team might have been quite different, but the ego wouldn't allow that from Kelly.
  20. and then we'd still be in a situation where our backup better be able to play cause Tate is as injury prone as Pierce. Would rather get Glenn to be perfectly honest.
  21. and it seems to me that wild is doing ok out there so really it looks like Dunn is the guy who kept things from falling apart.... who knew?
  22. Kelly did some things right and some things very wrong. I honestly think if his ego allowed him to just be the head coach and not the GM and offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach he might have turned out ok in that role. I was more angry at the moves Kelly made as GM than coach in general.
  23. I just have a hard time getting THAT excited after single games because there's lots of guys who have played well in short spurts never to maintain that level.
  24. no it wasn't 2000 they made the players and even won a playoff game, yeah it was an average record but part of that was only finding their qb towards the end of the year. 2001 they were hands don the best team in the league, the following year they were still one of the top teams and arguably had a better offense than the previous year and lost on the skating rink in commonwealth in the west final without their top 2 offensive players. They won 11 games the year after that as well. Yeah the team got old, but Dave Ritchie wasn't a dummy, he knew how to get results and I don't doubt that he would have got holes fixed up because of that, but he didn't get that chance. The record had slipped so Bauer fired a guy he didn't like and hired an idiot.
  25. well Mack for one doesn't talk to the media much outside of scheduled press conferences anyway, one of the reasons the press is so quick to jump on him. The media in this town is entirely too used to having a guy like Brendan Taman around who was more media friendly than most GMs in the league are.
