  1. Edmonton wasn't exactly a powerhouse in Rays last few years there. but they were 11-7 in his last year there and look how much of a disorganized mess that team looked without him. With a Ricky Ray it makes it so much easier to build a team because you know exactly what kind of offence to install because you know what Ray does well and it makes receivers look good cause he's putting balls right where they can be caught. He's pretty f'ing good and will make a team better, no doubt about that. Edmonton did put up some losing seasons with him though. Adding Ray to a hot mess of a team will only cool that mess, not fix it completely. Toronto has a pretty good team, and coaching staff, around Ray, which is helping him to do things like what happened last night. but it's worth remembering that the argos were only 9-9 last year, and this year they're in the absolute shits of a conference. I don't think the Argos are as good a team as the hype. They're really only first in the east because the Bombers are so inept this year and the Als are only slightly less inept. Hell the ticats look like a real team this year because of it too. You put a qb like Ray out there it make everything look better. Honestly the only thing that matters is that they got a decent looking coach in Milanovich and got Ray, but there are any number of GMs who can hire a good coach which is the biggest thing. Barker didn't look like he'd built much of a team when he had Cleo Lemon as his qb.

  3. yeah but no one is going to hand up RIcky Ray on a silver platter.
  4. It was definitely a bit of both. The D did well to keep the argos out of the endzone more but there were times when the coverage was real sloppy too. Ray was Ray, he just wasn't missing and doing his infallible robot throwing machine thing.
  5. Yeah I remember listening to the Ottawa people on the radio one time during the season and they were talking about how it'd have to be an absolute sure thing at qb because they felt like it might be more worthwhile to be able to have access to more NIs rather than taking a qb and letting teams protect other NIs. Seems they were keen to go the FA route for qbs.
  6. Curious as to why you feel that way? Very successful GM in Calgary & Toronto. Ton of contacts down south in the NFL & NCAA. Known in the football world as a good guy. Maybe he'd be willing to leave Toronto to be closer to Calgary where he has immediate family. I think he'd be a great addition. Or Higgins. Cause he's an arrogant smug jackass and every time I hear him talk I want to punch babies.
  7. Ugh no Barker please.
  8. It is odd to have a Thursday night game this late into the season. Going to have to miss the game due to curling tonight. Not sure if that is a blessing in disguise or not.... good man. Curling you're allowed to miss football for.
  9. If that guy finds his way to Winnipeg it will be a nice boon to the teams NI depth.
  10. Bottom line Ian Wild is a hell of a player and him not being a starter is a crime.
  11. They should have learned that after 2009 and they cut Glenn.
  12. oh no one is complaining about bringing Foster in, just leaving him in when he's not really doing much of anything except dropping the ball. Just cause they traded Pierce for him doesn't mean he should keep getting chances ahead of guys who have been here all year and not dropped so many passes.
  13. come on now, Khari at OC wouldn't be terrible. He did good in Hamilton at the position.
  14. yeah the new offence excuse doesn't fly when you have trouble hanging onto the ball. If you can't catch then you're not much of a receiver.
  15. Really seems like someone somewhere got enamoured with his size and potential ability to block that they figured he was a natural at slotback... I want Etienne back cause at least Etienne hangs onto the ball when it comes to him.
  16. ABT anyone but tim.
  17. He never did. He got the job after the previous got was fired and they just decided to keep him on.
  18. every qb that's worth a damn will throw a ball up and trust the receiver to out play the defensive back. Every single one of them. Why would you not? That's why you want the athletic receivers, so that they can win those battles.
  19. Hate to say it but, they are still playing hard for him, just their mistakes holding them back now. they never started playing hard for him. Playing hard and making plays are two different animals. Can't blame it all on the coaching, the players haven't delivered either when the opportunities have been there. Have to clean house, coaches and players, the talent just isn't their to win on a consistent basis. What I would say, is that the players never played for Burke and they've only started playing hard the last couple weeks cause they're trying to save their own jobs. I mean 52-0 in Burkes first outing as head coach... yeah the players never bought into him as head man. How many blowouts have there been since he got the job? Now finally with the end of the season in sight a lot of people have realized that if they don't show something they'll be out of a job and are actually giving a damn. Talent is not the big problem on this team, the worst coaching staff in ages is.
  20. As much as it might be hard to admit, going for the field goal was the right given that it would have been third and ten. Take the points and be down 3. The D was playing pretty good to that point and you'd have to trust that we'd get the ball back with time to shoot for another field goal to tie it.I disagree, kicking the field goal is playing for a tie. The position on the field the Bombers were in You gotta try and score the touchdown and even if you don't make it you're still down by 6 with plenty of time to get the ball back and win. As it ended up they were still down by 6 when they got the ball back. you're sitting at 3 wins on the season might as well go out trying to win rather than playing the passive game, epsecially when the offense was actually marching pretty well on the drive. If you go for it on third and ten and don't convert your still down by 6. The following possession for TO resulted in a field goal meaning we would have been down by 9 at that point. Therefore we wouldn't have had the same shot to win the game at the end as we did. but at the time you make the decision you assume your defense is going to step up and prevent a score. I'll take my chances with a defense when the turnover might occur that deep in the argos own end.
  21. Hall is a good qb if he has time. If his throws are rushed then they're up for grabs.
  22. well we've had 3 quarterbacks win games for us this year.... I'm going to stand by my opinion that Winnipegs #1 problems are coaching related and not talent related.

  25. I don't think we lack talent at DB. They've played some damned good games this season, they've also played some damned poor ones, but to me when you have such a wide range of their level of play it comes down to coaching failing to put them in positions to succeed each and every week.
