  1. To me the offense was reasonable considering it was a qb making his first start. NIght and day better than what we were getting with Pierce. The defense though... yikes that was rough. They started out OK being all over Cornish but then they started missing tackles and giving up too many soft yards underneath if they weren't totally gassing coverages. When the TOP is that lopsided because the defense in the 2nd and 3rd and most of the 4th quarters can't get off the field how do you expect the offense to roll up big yards of it's own?
  2. but his reasoning for that is to do with the whole protecting Pierce scheme that they did... which brings in a whole other host of issues as to what brought on that change. To me the whole "must keep pierce upright" mentality is all part and parcel of the whole idea of sticking with Pierce. Pierce utterly failed in that new offense and when they went back to what he does well he got hurt... so the real mistake here was obviously sticking with Pierce.
  3. well if you'd have taken the time to actually look around you'd see that no one is down on Goltz after his performance so stop trying to be a troll and pay attention. Defense sucked hard and that was the major issue. Listen to Burke post game comments, bad tackling, poor coverage exactly what most of us were saying during the game.
  4. well tonight the big problem was some terrible tackling, a lot of breakdowns in the secondary and a whole lot of real loose coverage.
  5. yeah, that's how bad Pierce was. Plus I think Goltz was decent tonight, the biggest problem tonight was starting in the 2nd quarter the defense could not get off the field and the offense didn't get a lot of chances. Dunno what the TOP stats were but I guarantee it was lopsided.
  6. no I mean like the complete 180 for Toronto simply by adding Ricky Ray. (also of note how far Edmonton fell without Ray)
  7. yeah well The defense crapping their pants the last 2 games doesn't absolve PIerce from his horrendous play. Hell I'd say Goltz starting all year we're 3-2 cause those first three games were lost because Pierce was horrendous.
  8. Fired Ritchie then hired Daley... Fired Berry to hire Kelly... yeah Bauer had this thing about firing good coaches and replacing them with losers.
  9. and if it doesn't someone start an intervention.
  10. despite there being a ton of evidence throughout the CFL that says otherwise?
  11. I gotta say, listening to the cjob pregame show with a nice cold beer is a hell of a way to spend a late friday afternoon. Game days are so much better when I'm not working.
  12. but it was firing Berry that led to Kelly and that set the team back at least 3 years. Firing Ritchie and going to Daley set the team back... that's the main point here. You may think the next guy can't be worse... but he might be. He might do long term damage to the team, like Kelly did. If nothing else, Mack is not doing long term harm to the team and is steadily improving the depth in the organization. Even if he doesn't put them over the top we aren't hurting anything keeping him around and when they decide to move on at least he's left a solid foundation for the next person to build on. That's why I advocate patience in the situation we are in right now.
  13. clicked here thinking it was the actual game day thread (my bad for not reading clearly)
  14. all I want to see is a win. Don't much care how, just need to see a win.
  15. if they're as good as the hype they get protected and we leave lesser players unprotected.
  16. then why isn't our offensive coordinator saying that those changes should be happening?
  17. oh yeah cause a guy whose only qualifications are that he does TSNs draft coverage is a sure bet to take over as a GM. Come on give me a break here. Forde won't be the next GM anywhere in the CFL because he hasn't done a damned thing to earn that job.
  18. there is an interesting thing going on in Winnipeg. The defense is all about getting younger and faster and replacing veterans who can't do the job... on offense it's the opposite. Veterans are given no end of slack and will not be replaced no matter how poorly they played... this is causing Morley to keep getting chances despite being terrible and hearing for a long time now how Swiston is basically just as good and pushing him all the time... so why isn't the same standard held for offense and defense?
  19. Can't believe it's 2 years already.... man does time fly.
  20. dare to dream but could you imagine if for some reason they both wound up coming up here? That'd be a big boon to the NI depth.
  21. because that doesn't fit his flawed line of thinking.
  22. and how's that worked out for the past 20 years? Haven't developed a qb in that time, haven't had organizational depth in that time... and the biggest reason for that is that coaches and GMs are fired at the slightest slip up and then we're back to starting from square one. A little patience would go a LONG way to solving those problems. Everyone bitched about them at the time, but wouldn't Doug Berry and Kevin Glenn look better than what we have now? But we don't have them because of the attitude that you are expressing here.
  23. impossible since there is no such thing as a bad Justin.
  24. It's not that though. It's simply more pointing out that you can't judge draft picks until a few years have gone by. Etienne was sepen as a massive bust and terrible pick at the time meanwhile everyone and their dog agreed that if Poblah was eligible for the actual draft he likely would have been the #1 overall pick. Just goes to show that I find it amazing how guys are justifying how Etienne was a good pick by throwing Poblah under the bus...really just serves to back up the idea that pre-draft rankings aren't all they're cracked up to be since a couple years after being selected one guy is starting to show that he looks like he can be a solid contributer and one guy still has a hell of a lot to prove.
  25. Things that can be said of basically every backup qbs to come through the CFL ever. Doesn't mean guys always live up to that potential, especially when they're saddled with bad teams. There aren't a hell of a lot of 2nd chances given to qbs in the situation Reilly is in.
