I think you are mistaken in what you think people think Goltz is able to do... No one is claiming him to be the messiah, just that at this point he's more athletic and seems more aware than PIerce... which is not a high bar at all. In fact it's the very definition of setting a low bar. I'll say this too. Bomber fans have a much more realistic expectation of Goltz than Stamps fans do of Bo Levi MItchell. Read a lot of comments from them lately about how awesome it is that they can throw out that many qbs who are good and what not. Bomber fans are simply recognizing that PIerce has been horrendous and see Goltz being able to move better (which is undeniable at this point) and seeming to be able to improvise when things break down better and are hoping he takes the job away.

but that excerpt only deals with one player, says absolutely nothing about what happens after a player is selected by a team.
-
no there is a back of the line rule. You sucessfully get a player you drop to the bottom of waiver priority. I don't think however that a lot of teams were bidding on laurent. The story was that the only team that really did a lot of legwork on him were the esks and that it was unlikely anyone but them would be taking him. Everyone else was focussed on Poblah
-
wow did the esks waste a ton of time at the end to call a ******* hand off in shotgun.... if that's your one play to win it all you deserve to lose.
-
I know people in edmonton are high on crompton, but all I see is a guy who's got the deer in the head lights look. There is no way he is ready to be in there right now.
-
and Reilly out of the game... but damn Mack for not giving up a first round pick just to talk to the guy
-
I'd like to thank the esks for making the bombers look like a cohesive team. That INT by Reilly was pretty brutal, especially the position on the field he threw it.
-
but come on, we can make ourselves feel better knowing that other teams are as crap on O as we are.

Discussion of our Thursday game if anyone is interested.... LOL at both these offenses.
-
how about NOT firing everyone all the time...

This. Burke is a hell of a coordinator, there's no doubt about that, but as a head coach he's still got a lot to prove. Taking over last year and having 2 of the first 3 weeks where the team just absolutely rolled over and died was not a good start. Then he stuck with an obviously finished qb and he's 1-3 to start this year with the offense looking horrible the whole time... I don't want to throw him under the bus but so far he's not proving a lot as head coach.
-
but the only kind of GMs who are willing to inherit poor coaches are the Ed Herveys of the world.
-
you mean the game where marcus howell was the best db we dressed? ESPN Classic Canada still shows that game sometimes as a "classic" CFL matchup, it's ugly to watch now as it was back then.
-
washington was like the only DB that had a good game against toronto. Markett looked like the biggest victim of Ray running for a td and unfortunately wasn't able to snag an int when the ball went through his hands but he was better than most of the dbs that night as well. I thought Sears was all in all pretty useless at SAM when he was in there so Washington can't be worse.

you beat me too it. Those comments are very nice to read cause it tells me that the stamps d-line has no idea what Goltz can do. Much more athletic than Pierce at this point AND much more aware and able to make a decision with the ball (ie. doesn't hold it as long)

Depth Chart - Week #5 - Stamps @ Bombers
17to85 replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
seconded, but honestly the guy I want to see NOT doing returns is Johnson. Seemed like he spent more time rolling on the ground on punt returns last week than actually returning the ball. -
you think it's the comments? For me it's the record and the stubborn refusal to fix a glaring problem on the team.
-
because hands trump hype and so far Poblah hasn't shown that he catches the ball as well as Etienne. Will be interesting to see if Poblah gets in at SB at all since the buzz is he's more suited to be inside than outside.

Confirmed, Goltz Will Start Friday Night Against Stamps

well it only fun if I'm the one egging people on. -
But unfortunately Mack is the one I'd prefer to keep. Either way I think if Mack gets fired a new GM will bring in his own coach. No one is going to take the job and be told that he has to stick with a dud of a head coach.
-
Ray is the best qb in the league and has been for quite a long time just because he's mpossible to rattle and if you give him any opportunity at all he just never misses on a pass. Doesn't matter if it's short of long he can put it right where it needs to be.

that play pissed me off so much. I hate when guys try and dance around when they're 2 yards short of the first down. Just put your head down, man up and go forward. Worst case you get a yard and are in 3rd and one and you give the coach a choice about gambling. getting stopped 2 yards short means a punt. -
yeah a guy with his only incomplete pass being a drop should not be denied POW I don't care how many yards anyone else had.

well one of the features of this site I believe is the ability to ignore users entirely so you don't see their posts, I'd suggest doing that and not egging anything on. -

i'm going to go ahead and say that you're over rating the stamps D. They're decent but I haven't been as impressed with them this year as I was expecting. They're beatable for sure... question is what the bombers offense will do. So far they've made every defense they've faced look out of this world.
