  1. Forget Gauthier. The real question should have been would Wilson or Clements or Cole have broken up that pass? Maybe. Gauthier can remain a teamer and occasional rotational guy thanks.
  2. I didn't notice any difference in the offense with Brown running it vs. Collaros, and in some cases he ran it better (vs. Edmonton for example) at 35 going on 36 Collaros is not a sure bet to maintain his play which is already slipping.
  3. if you also paid attention some of us have said for a while now that Collaros being the best qb in the league is more an indictment of the quality of quarterbacking around the league than it is a true mark in Collaros favour. Guy can play and win a lot of games, but 3 straight duds in Grey Cups (one an all time defence bailed him out) and a lot of cracks showing up this year means that, to me at least, a $600K on the wrong side of 35 may not be the best investment anymore. If he's going to get happy feet any time he senses pressure even more so. So it's less of was he the best qb this year, and more will he continue to be?
  4. And with 2 backup OL on we have enough bodies for blocking packages, no real need for a fullback.
  5. It can be done, they just have to choose to do it.
  6. If not for Brady O dragging the offense along this year there would be a LOT more talk about collaros problems this year.
  7. you seem focused on this year a lot... fact is this team is at a crossroads. Either they make hard, unpopular decisions and reload and keep a good thing going, or they keep trotting out the same group expecting them to still play like they're all 3 or 4 years younger than they are and we slowly erode into irrelevance.
  8. well not in terms of attitude... but probably bighill. O'Shea will never not put Bighill in a prime position on D and Bighill is nowhere near the player he was a few seasons ago. GM is likely going to have to force the issue there because I don't see the defence getting truly better until we can move on from that aging star. Ritchie Hall D has always needed a quality middle linebacker to be effective.
  9. he started the game pretty good, after he got sacked the first time I think the demons crept in. Guy does not do well when he's getting hit. He needs an absolute clean pocket these days to be an MOP type guy.
  10. IMO Eli did take a job, but the coach wouldn't make the change.
  11. No there won't... but what if he regresses again next year? then we've still got one of the highest paid players in the league who isn't performing like an MOP level player should and what do we do for a backup if Brown looks for opportunities elsewhere? Dude is 35 and has an injury history as long as my arm.... He has been sub par in 3 straight grey cups now.... it's well worth having this discussion. Collaros is not likely to get any better than he was 2 years ago and is quite frankly only likely to get worse. Fact is that Brown operated this offense as well as collaros did... could be a good opportunity to get cheaper at the position and get some better depth. Especially since Collaros would still hold great trade value around the league.
  12. So the way I see it is Collaros made the OL look worse than it was. He took a sack last night by dancing around, he kept looking for a pass that wasn't there. perfect opportunity to tuck it and run and keep the D honest. He doesn't do that anymore. Teams are playing more patiently with him and he's running himself into trouble by not actually running forward. He's 35 and fragile from all his past injuries. For one of teh highest paid players in the league is this what we want from a guy? I think the time is probably right to go another direction. Brown showed a lot more ability to make things happen than Collaros did. I just know that if we lose a capable backup and stick with Collaros it could get ugly.
  13. yeah it wasn't even the DB covering Lawler, he beat his guy super clean. I think Collaros didn't see the db leave Demski to get under the pass. Needed to be up and over everyone not just assume lawler is just wide open because he beat his man clean.
  14. kolo was on roller skates the first sack against, might as well have not even been there, and after that sack collaros game changed for the worse.
  15. I just don't understand how Ritchie Hall came in with such a piss poor offensive game plan. He knows what Fajardo can and can't do.
  16. Thorpes D wasn't even THAT good. There were tons of plays out there that just didn't get made. The entire Bombers team had a let down. They left a ton of plays on the field and came in with quite frankly subpar game plans. Just unacceptable all around.
  17. man I dunno if you can say that... 2019 and 2021 we won with depth. We don't have that depth now, especially with bighill and schoen going out there hurt. It comes down to a couple plays? Absolutely it does. So have the right roster so that you have either a) backups who can make that play or b) backups who can take rotations in to keep your stars fresh so they can make that play.
  18. yes we kept an extra OL on the roster which is dumb. I understand they want to not lose Eli and Dobson.... so if they're that good ******* start them. Just lots of little poor roster decisions costing them.
  19. yeah that always sounded like an excuse to me. Depth is gone and getting old and when the roster guys who don't play anywhere...... this was a poorly built roster with enough star power to overcome it most weeks
  20. Depth is what wins you games. You have small rosters in the CFL. You need backups who can play, who can spell off people to keep them fresh. 2019 and 2021 this team had thebest depth and won because of it. THis year not so much. We played most games short handed.
  21. did we do that though? cause special teams sucked this year.
  22. This is exactly it. franchise best team last season and 1 point grey cup loss, yeah I can get behind running it back this year, but this was the only year you can really do that. age happens fast in football and if you don't actively get younger right now you will find yourself in a bad spot pretty quick.
  23. some guys it won't happen and the GM is going to have to take that choice out of his hands.
  24. no one said rebuild, but you have to make more than 1 or 2 changes at this point. more importantly they need to clear some cap space to get better depth. ANd that likely includes a lot of the older depth players. Not just the starters.
  25. have you looked at the average age of the team though? They avoided making changes this season to run it back, fine, but that means you gotta do more this offseason. Yes they still had succes and yes not everyone needs to go... but they gotta make some changes or they'll just keep getting older and older.
