on this count you're correct. They need someone they can rely on to be the guy to make a play for them when they need one. I also attribute it to them not having any sort of identity as an offense. They don't know what kind of offense they are or what they do well or even what they want to do well. Figure that out and things will improve.

Pierces biggest issue by far was his inability to make a decision. Hestiated to throw quickly, hesitated to pull it and run, He was playing like a rookie for gods sake.
-
let a defense play with a lead there's less pressure on them and the other offense has to do more than play it safe and then punt and win the field position game by attrition. That's what's happening to the bombers right now. even giving up 1 first down can put the bombers in a losing situation in terms of field position over the course of a quarter or a half.

you missed the biggest point here.... Goltz is better RIGHT NOW with so much less experience under his belt. Even if we go so far as to say that their passing is equal (which I don't think is the case, I think Goltz is ahead in the passing game) his massive (and it is massive at this point in their careers) edge in mobility and quickness makes him a much more dangerous and effective player than Pierce. You see we can say their accuracy is equal because it's 3 passes which for all we know is made up for in the difference in drops each has dealt with or maybe with receivers running wrong routes or something, we don't know all the ins and outs as to why passes were incomplete and for a matter of 3 passes I will give you equal (I still say the eye ball test has Goltz missing by less than Pierce when he misses) You have one stat to back up your claims which is dubious at best. TIme to concede you are mistaken and move along.

But you know what the biggest difference between a good defense and a defense that can make plays and win games is? An offense that can get a lead now and then.

vs. Sears who was awful at it, vs. washington who wasn't solid there either.... You see where I'm going with this? If Hefney hadn't been a whiner last year and played the position like was the plan things might have looked entirely different last season as well because some of the best games of 2011 for the defense came in games Hefney was playing SAM.
-
on the other hand the defense has been noticably different this season with Dunn and without. I would suggest that having someone who can play the SAM/Nickel position is more telling of this defense than the MLB.
-
but in your mind he's finished right now.

well it was a rather lengthy injury last year for Tate right? at that point in his career it's still easy to say that the injury was just a fluke thing. Even Pierce got the benefit of the doubt at one point.

when you compare the differences in completion percentage it amounts to 3 completions different over the same number of attempts... now do you have stats for drops? Cause without them you can't really make a good comparison. Let's say this.... their completion percentage for all intents and purposes is equal. Pierce has thrown more ints (ie. more bad decisions) he has taken way way more sacks (slower decisions, less mobility) what exactly are you trying to prove in regards to this argument? Do you really think you have proven anything about the effectiveness of Pierce vs. Goltz? Goltz makes less mistakes, completes the same number of passes essentially AND adds a huge amount of mobility and makes quicker decisions. Considering that one guy is a 9 year CFL veteran and one guy has 2 career starts this really is a no contest.
-
Not only is Goltz making better decisions than PIerce, he's making decisions way way faster. It really blows my mind how anyone can seriously look at the way Pierce played the game this season and even try and defend it

hahahahahahahaha you know how I know that you're full of **** and haven't really watched Buck Pierce play the game this season?

My Zany Idea For The Full Rebuild Next Year

why isn't he? Guy ran a fine offense in Hamilton with Kevin Glenn and a bunch of spare parts at receiver. He was basically the OC when he first got to Winnipeg as well if I remember right. The guy knows his business when it comes to offense in the CFL. -
only if you ignore the other half of it. We've seen a hell of a lot of guys like Boatmen and Morley, we've seen 2 games of Goltz. That's where my response comes in understand? Probably not, you're too busy screaming for everyone to be fired to look at anything in the right context.

If we get a bunch of shitty performances out of Goltz then you're free to ask that question.

because people are idiots and think that because Dinwiddie threw 4 ints in that grey cup game or whatever that he's a ***** who has to wear a helmet walking around all the time. -

I'm just saying that we as fans don't know enough to make that judgement. -
but you're still ignoring what I'm saying in order to keep on raging.... How do we know we don't have a better option if theynever play them? See you can't really say right now that it's cause they lost free agents and haven't been able develop people if the people you're developing don't get to play?

Has Your Attitude Changed In The Last 5 Years?

Look if the ball is thrown and then the receive slips how the **** are you even trying to pin that on the qb? That's just a bad break for a qb. You're really on a rant and you're blowing things way out of proportion. Because he missed a throw on a crossing route? That **** happens. I'm more concerned with the drops and other plays where the receivers didn't give a young qb the help he needed. You're taking a couple missed throws and making it seem like Goltz couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat, that's not the case at all. -
This is exactly why Hufnagel insisted that Glenn came back when he traded Burris.

have you ever seen a qb in his first couple starts who wasn't a better runner than he was accurate? Outside of freaks like RIcky Ray of course. Hell Lulay when he was starting didn't do a hell of a lot other than run too. So far he's been 50-60% it seems in his career, that's not horrendous accuracy, especially when you consider some of the drops he dealt with. -
no what I'm saying is your post was so full of **** the only way I can accept that you actually took the time to post it was in the attempts to troll people.

you obviously didn't read. I didn't say declaring Goltz the starter for the rest of the year was a smart move, I said admitting that he made a mistake hitching his wagon to Pierce was a smart move. There is a big difference. Goltz is just the next guy in line, admitting that he was wrong about Pierce though, that's a big step from a position that tends to cling to their mistakes because their ego won't let them admit they made a mistake.
