Hopefully we see Pierce come into the game at receiver. That guy always seems to catch the ball when it comes to him which is a much needed skill right now
-
Why not put Goltz in to do his run it around the edge play when we're stuck in the midst of 5 or 6 2 and outs in a row? At least get a first down and let the punter punt from somewhere other than the shadow of his own goalposts.

The problem with Bucks stats for his career is that he's not in his mid 20s anymore. His game started to fall apart last season and it hasn't rebounded this year. We used to worry about Pierce getting hurt because he was good when healthy, now he's not even average when healthy and we're still terrified of him getting hurt.
-
the biggest problem for pierce with his WRs is that he is not accurate with them down the sidelines at all or if it's just an out he tosses up a lot of freebies for the dbs to break on, he nearly had one picked last game throwing to the sidelines. He is much better at going deep to the SBs, Edwards in particular. Honestly I just think Pierce and Matthews just don't have any chemistry at all. Matthews did a lot of his best stuff with Brink or Elliott in the game last season. With Pierce it was usually Edwards who was seeing more balls.

I see the same things as you though I'd maybe change the shows up for one quarter thing to shows up for about 2 great drives a game. Cause there's times in every game where Piece has looked damn good hitting receivers and marching the ball down the field.... the trouble is that he can't sustain that for more than 2 or 3 drives a game.
-
Yeah that'll be where I saw him playing more of a LB type spot. Would really love to know more from the tv guys, they never even mentioned Parker being out at all which is par for the course for them. Can't stray from the script of jerking off one player or group on one team to do trivial things like update who's out of the game and who isn't.

oh come on, duane forde drew up what happened on that play quite clearly. Johnson was playing outside position expecting inside help, the inside man bit down deep and johnson was caught outside and the ball thrown inside. Don't blame Johnson on that when when it was the inside guy who blew his assignment.

Am I crazy or was Davis playing a bit like a linebacker at times in the hamilton game anyway? Is it possible he goes in the middle and Muamba to Parkers spot? Or do they just see if Wild can run with the job? Either way it really sucks to lose a guy who was playing so well.

Seems like the only people avoiding the PIerce issue are the ones who can actually do something about it.
-
It's not like he came out and said those guys sucked adn that's why the offense sucked, he just mentioned a few different things that were wrong including himself. I think the biggest issue people take is that he didn't come out and say "Well I sucked the big one, that's all on my shitty play"
-
which totally ignores the entirety of Pierces career, good job, how's all that sand look that you've got your head buried in? Pierce has never ever ever been a consistent pocket passer. He was always a heart and soul scrapped who when he felt pressure could run very effectively and make a defense pay with his legs but he was never going to stand there like Ray or Calvillo and pick a D apart with his arm. That he is failing to turn into that guy in Winnipeg is no surprise, he's still the same guy he was minus his one truly great attribute... his mobility. If you took away Burris ability to run do you think he'd still be a good qb?
-
yeah if the coaches refuse to pull the guy then we're left hoping for something to force their hand and that's a damned shame.

Prediction: Who Will Be Our Leading Receiver?
17to85 replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
when he was the consensus runner up for rookie of the year in 2011.... He had a down year last year now we see if he bounces back this year, though moving outside won't get him as many passes from Pierce who only seems able to pass to the sbs with any regularity. -
Ford was in there for plays, he was the pitch option on Goltz TD run for one, and he returns kicks for the team as well so in a sense he is kind of a kick returner as a DI. The reason there is no dedicated DI kick returner on the team is cause none of those guys actually earned a job in preseason and you're not going to throw a guy on after 1 week of practise.
-
turning Pierce into a pocket passer is obviously a mistake... but he can't run anymore either so it's the only choice they have. The mistake here was all about sticking with Pierce when it was plain as day last season he was finished as an effective starter in the CFL.
-
Hamilton D Sheets their pants, seems the safest bet.
-
it's the kind of analysis people who see the game but don't really understand that there's more to avoiding sacks than just what the o-line is doing make.
-
but that's because teams know that he's not going to actually run with the ball.
-
and most times as soon as pierce felt the pressure he just turtled. The guy has turned himself into a sitting duck in the pocket, any blitz no matter telegraphed is getting to him and it's absolutely killing the offense and the team. Usually it's the rookie qbs who when you blitz them they can't handle it. Pierce is a god damned veteran and he can't even handle a blitz.
-
Burke from day one as head coach was pumping Goltz tires. He cut Elliott and Brink because he had that much belief in Goltz. I refuse to believe that Burke doesn't think Goltz can play just based on how much he did to make him climb the depth chart.
-
I think if Buck played like he did when he was good he wouldn't be as effective either. I maintain that he is just overall slower than he used to be, that coupled with the obvious mental block about getting injured means that he doesn't play that reckless style that made him successful. I think at this point in his career he is a backup at best. Need to make the change now for the good of the team. TIme to see if Goltz can do anything. At very least he's athletic enough as his few plays a game show to make something happen with his legs if things break down. Pierce is not consistent enough a passer to make me think Goltz can't pass at least as well (or hall for that matter) and be a better threat running.
-
oh sure there were a few that were dropped, but there were a lot more poor throws too. No team is going to go through an entire game with 0 drops, but when most of the passes aren't even catchable... It was particularly painful to see how as soon as Pierce sensed the pressure he just turtled. No attempt to avoid it, not attempt to get a pass off first, just hit the deck. He's playing like a rookie who's never seen a blitz before.
-
you can tell that he either just finished yelling and screaming at his team or was about to go yell and scream at them... that attitude won't work on a team that lacks talent and discipline, it'll only make matters worse.
-
I'm watching the first half right now since I missed it yesterday and on the first drive he had matthews up the middle as well and put it way over his head, had a catch by anderson that if it was better thrown anderson catches it in stride and has lots of daylight in front of him instead anderson had to go down to catch it... just a terrible outing. Leaving so many play on the field because of an inaccurate arm and an inability to do anything in the face of pressure.

I am not even sure I'd call Kavis Reed an excellent coordinator anyway. He always seemed pretty lacklustre to me except for that one year in winnipeg which I credit the talent for moreso than the coordinator.
