  1. that's an unfair statement. Every player wants to be on the field if they can. I don't fault Pierce for wanting to keep playing, I fault the coaches/management for not making the decision to move on sooner.
  2. given how their o-line has struggled this season and how poorly Calvillo has dealt with that pressure I would lean towards this move not really doing as much as some people expect. Popp is not known for his head coaching abilities.
  3. marcus brady is working with one of the best qbs in the league, Jarious Jackson is working with Lulay in BC, Jason Maas is working with Ray... do you really think the quality of the qbs play matters when it comes to their ability to coach? I don't know if Pierce is any kind of coach or not, but how he played certainly doesn't have any bearing on that. At least Pierce was a good qb at one point. I hope he does well.
  4. I just hope they give Goltz a fair chance here. I don't wanna see any Mike Kelly style handling of the new qb here. If Goltz is the guy don't yank him at the first sign of trouble and go to the next guy and the next guy and the next guy.
  5. is this the circle jerk? Do we all drop our pants and grab some lube?
  6. but it's not like this is the first time he's fired a coach and taken over himself... He's had his slip ups before. Just damned lucky he had such stability at the qb position for such a long long time.
  7. not to be THAT guy, but could you imagine the fall out here if Joe Mack had hired a coach and fired him 5 games later?
  8. wow very surprising that it happened this early.
  9. I can't believe they actually came out and announced this.... shoulda been done in the offseason but better late than never I guess.
  10. makes sense when you consider the scarf we've all seen him wear
  11. it happens in the business world all the time, it's a good way to take egos and internal finger pointing out of the picture. Just get someone to come in from outside and ask them "so what's the problem?"
  12. not really the point, the point was Berry had the balls to try a new player at the position to see if it helped.
  13. what are the contract statuses of those players? Which ones are upcoming FAs?
  14. it's absolutely ridiculous that they have to have games on tuesday night. I'm going to assume that's a bluejays reason for this? Argos gotta get their own stadium built so this insanity doesn't happen anymore.
  15. he also wasn't playing against a defense that didn't know how to make a tackle like BLM and Collaros were. Most of what Collaros did was high percentage throws let the receiver do the rest.
  16. what the hell are you talking about? No one is doing anything but telling it how it is with the sun. Penton might be an OK reporter but he's still guilty by association with that rag.
  17. everyone is going to focus on collaros tonight, but honestly the BC defense has not looked good. It's actually similar enough to what the bombers did. loose coverage, sloppy tackling. I'll throw Goltz up there with the other rookie qbs performances too, he looked solid as well, but was handicapped by that piss poor defensive showing.
  18. I suspect that they are waiting for someone to get cut from an NFL camp.
  19. boatman and morely have to be on the line since they were apparently on the line in training camp. I'd think that dbs jobs are on the line too just based on how unhappy Burke rightly is with the last couple games. Johnson that means you and maybe suber too given that he's been pretty poor the last 2 games (though I think he gets chances to rebound)
  20. did he really say that? if so it's a good move. Being able to know when you need help is a big part of being successful I think. And really I don't think it's about admitting that they have no clue so much as they want an outsider to help determine if the problem is with the way the players are prepared or if the players simply aren't good enough. If he's willing do get an outside perspective maybe there's hope that Burke can turn himself into a better coach with some time and experience. One of Mike Kellys biggest flaws was that he refused to admit that anything he did might have been the problem. If Burke is willing to say "gee maybe the problem is me" then there's hope that he can learn from that.
  21. the problem is most of the unwashed masses would start screaming that Goltz was useless if he didn't immediately start winning. Hell we already saw people ready to throw him back to the bench after his first career start.
  22. +1 for a really good analogy.
  23. I think that's cause for the most part the people who came here are the ones who are interested in at least having a discussion as opposed to having their own personal axes to grind. Far less reactionary fools around these parts.
  24. Lapo being fired wasn't the issue, the issue was when he was fired. Shoulda done it at the end of the season and shoulda done a proper coaching search after that.
  25. still less biased than you.
