he really is like a young Buck Pierce.
-
I dunno how anyone thinks Hall comes out... he was pretty fantastic in game one and while he didn't get the glory stats in game 2 he was clearly part of a team effort on defense. He's just a real complete player on the end and much better than the stats showed last game.
-
The bigger concern if I'm a stamps fan is how awful the defense was. They could not take themselves off the field at all in the 2nd half and that only compounded the offenses problems. They didn't get many chances to redeem themselves.
-
not to mention a go to guy.
-
Have they made the initial tackle on anyone this game? Just so many missed tackles. Hufnagel is going to bring a sack of doorknobs to the next practise to beat guys with.
-
I am so glad the bombers cut Hefney. Looks like a guy who has lost a step.
-
It's going to be really interesting to watch what happens in Montreal. Calvillo is clearly not happy with the offense they're running, Have to see if there's a mutiny of some kind there. Will also be interesting to see if any other defense exposes him the same way that the bombers did. It's not the first time that the bombers defense has got into Calvillos head so maybe it's just a matchup problem.

kohlert just reminds me so much of Stoddard out there. Doesn't jump off the page at you but sure enough there he is making the plays. Big fan of what our canadian receivers are doing there.
-
Edwards didn't finish the game did he? haven't heard a word on him.
-
Thanks for saving me the trouble. Even better is adding in what the offense actually accomplished on their own getting those 33 points. 7 came from a punt return, 7 more came after the D set them up right near the goal line with an int return.
-
been concerned that we have the wrong guy at qb since they started talking about the big protection quick release offense. Need Calvillo or Glenn to run that most effectively and I would absolutely have tried my best to bring Glenn in during the offseason.
-
The reason it is so frustrating is because of how good the defense is playing. We could be 2-0 right now if the offense didn't disappear for long stretches of the game. A defense like that you have a chance to do something special and we are seeing signs that once again they won't be able to take advantage of it simply because the play from the most important position on the field isn't up to par. A guy like Ray would kill teams with this offense.
-
Doug Brown has been saying for a couple years now that old man Calvillo hates being hit and he got sacked 11 times in the last 2 games, that is unheard of, no wonder Calvillo is pissed at his coaches. Took an offense that kept him upright and made life hell on defenses and threw it away. Much like the bombers are using the wrong qb for their offense the als are using the wrong qb for that offense. Someone like Burris would probably look better running that nonsense than an immobile Calvillo.

I think Johnson is getting crapped on a bit too much... but that being said I am a HUGE Sears fan and at this point JJ is probably the weakest link in the secondary and getting Sears in at his expense might just happen.... Dunn has been really good in these first two games, coming out of nowhere to look like a good fit at that position. Parker as well seems to be fitting in nicely at LB and all those questions we all had about the position seem to be going away.
-
you go ahead and cling to your wrong opinions, but they're still wrong. It's good that you can at least respect what we're saying, that just indicates that deep down you are afraid we're right and that your happy thoughts might not wind up coming true. I wish Pierce was still a guy you can count on but he's not and that's why it was such a huge mistake to tie the entire season to him. The guys game has fallen off a cliff the last couple years, he's a backup at this point. Likely will need to try and get Glenn out of Calgary if the backups here aren't good enough to take the reigns because Glenn would actually fit this offense and give us average qbing to allow ths defense to win a few games.
-
I'm actually worried about what the argos defense will do to pierce. I don't think their secondary is all that great, but they will blitz Pierce from all over and I don't see him being able to recognize it and make the throws needed to slow them down at all.
-
The Buck Pierce of 2010 or even 2011 doesn't exist any more. He didn't do a **** lot of winning last year and this year he's playing exactly the same way. He is not a good qb anymore and it's very sad to see cause he used to be a damned good one. Injuries have ruined him because he can't play his game anymore and trying to play the game like Anthony Calvillo or Ricky Ray was never a strength of Pierce. The problem is that he can't string it together enough to score enough points. He didn't do it in week one and he didn't do it enough tonight... but he got saved by the defense turning in an unbelievable night. Won't happen many times in the CFL period that you hold a team to 4 points until well into the 4th quarter.
-
I like a lot of what Crotwon has out there, there are options to deal with the blitz, there are lots of receivers open.... our qb is just not the right qb for this offense. No one is scared of him beating them with his arm so they'll just focus on the run and blitz blitz blitz and trust that he won't be able to string together enough plays to score enough points. Backfired on Montreal tonight because the bombers D was relentless and absolutely blew up the Als o-line all night long but you can't expect to get that many sacks every night and rattle a qb that much.
-
wrong on so many levels. Bryant turner won the game by making a play when needed. Desia Dunn won the game by making a play when needed. Pierce had turnovers directly related to him, failed to get a sizable lead despite the defense doing everything it could. The defense made more plays than the offense ****** up tonight simple as that. That offense was overall terrible tonight, an outstanding performance by the defense won the game period end of discussion.
-
more like inconsistent qb is inconsistent.
-
what part of inconsistent don't you understand? That means that sometimes he'll make the throw, other times he won't. This isn't judgements based solely on these first two games either, these are things Pierce has been showing for some time now. Burying your head in the sand hoping that he just magically gets it all of a sudden won;t help anything.
-
in the first half the offense was good turnover aside, in the 2nd half they weren't. simple as that.
-
you'd have to spin pretty hard to make Pierces performance seem average at this point.
-
part of the reason the offense isn't punishing the blitz is pierces limitations. He's too inconsistent a passer to stand there and beat a blitz with his arm.
-
I ******* love that defense.
