Parker was doing so well at linebacker, that is a real tough injury to take at this point in the season where we basically need the defense to be perfect to have a hope in hell of winning.
-
and you know that the worst part is? You and I and many others knew this about Pierce last season if not sooner and we knew this would be the result of sticking with him! If we average schmucks can see that Pierce is not a good qb anymore why the hell can't our coaches see it and move on? If Goltz and Hall aren't able to play then why the **** did we cut two qbs who had at least won games as starters to make room for them? Right now I just want to see someone else in there just to see what they can do.

even when Elliott was throwing those ints in the redzone... at least he was able to move the ball! 2 and outs are as bad as turnovers when the kicking game is having that kind of night! This defense is so good... just give them a break now and then! -
How Long Before The Club Makes A Big Move

I think there is cause for concern in Edmonton too... and it's not just related to the Esks, with the OIlers being as poor as they have been as well the sports fans in that town are giving up on the local teams since they're both such a mess. -
you can go ahead and say it, Pierce is done as an effective qb in the CFL. The longer we stick with him the bigger the hole.
-
well if they stick with Pierce they'll be unemployed come year end, I think they'd rather try and spin it as "we knew Goltz was the guy all along" then get fired.
-
I think Goltz will be OK just because he's althetic enough that he can improvise a bit if the pressure gets there.
-
problem is there's no offense that fits pierce anymore. The mistake was keeping him in the first place and there are lots of us been talking about that since it happened as a huge mistake.

Than Pierce? me too, but he'd have trouble facing the pressure as well, just that he moves better than pierce. Elliott though would do well in this offense cause he was a quick passer, this O is basically made for him. -

I'd agree. I don't think Reilly is all that hot as a passer either... but at least reilly can use his legs to make some things happen that pierce just can't do anymore. Sure wishing We'd kept Elliott instead of pierce at this point. THANKS BURKE! -
but this topic is an old one right? so page 2 took place a long time ago.
-
thanks to a 70+ yard td run from Simpson... The problem here is that PIerce is not a good fit for the offense Crowton has put together. He's no Calvillo and never will be. He can not read and throw quickly. At his best Pierce was a guy who extended things with his legs or just tucked and ran. But he can't play like that anymore and the idea to protect him and make him a pocket passer while a noble idea is just a mistake at this point. All it does is turn Pierce into a sitting duck because he can't play that game anymore. The catch is that he can't play his game anymore either so they just need to get rid of the guy and get someone who can play some type of game.
-
on point one, it wouldn't surprise me, that's what happened when montreal wanted to stop pierce. send pressure he is useless. as for Etienne shouldn't be that much of a surprise, pierce has always used the SBs more effectively than the WRs.
-
The real depressing part was that he basically tossed pierce under the bus for how he played... and THEN said he never considered pulling him! How on earth can that even be?
-
just makes me angry. Any other position on the team plays that poorly the backup would go in but noooo can't pull pierce, he's just too good compared to the backups. Sickening. If the backups aren't good enough to go in when the qb is struggling that much get some backups who you CAN play.
-
we don't even need average qbing, we just need someone who can get a couple first downs throughout the game and give the defense a break. Right now what sinks this team is when the offense goes 2 and out until the 3 minute warning and the defense is just bagged.
-
Listening to both the coach and GM all offseason it sounded to me like Mack was willing to move on but Burke wanted Pierce. Consider what Burke said on the post game show... he flat out admitted that pierce was bad at hitting his targets and making reads... but said he never considered pulling him. Now tell me that it's not Burke that is PIerces biggest supporter. That's the frustrating part. Burke will cut the very popular Hefney when he sees his game slipping but he refuses to make a move at qb.

if Goltz had thrown 4 ints and we'd lost by 20 would it have made any difference? Losses are losses. Pierce isn't doing anything to win games anymore, time to see if the next guy can. -
yeah don't worry, we were very vocal about burkes insistance that it's pierce and only pierce.
-
Compare Pierce and Burris tonight. Burris saw a ton of pressure and got sacked a ton of times too, but he was also able to use his legs and make throws on the run to move the chains, we don't see pierce doing that.
-
with a proper qb those sacks don't happen. Case in point, Hamilton runs a very obvious 7 man blitz late in the game on 2nd down and pierce doesn't even see it coming and takes a sack. Any other qb sees it coming and at least has a chance of making a play. Pierce has been so bad all teams need to do is send 6 or 7 guys and pierce is getting hit. That was nothing new to hamilton, montreal did the exact same thing. Pierce would look ok for atime then montreal would send 6 or 7 guys each time and the offense disappeared. It's not an o-line problem, it's a qb can't make a play problem.
-
fugly doesn't begin to describe the bombers offense. That wasn't even a good defense that they looked like ass against, it was the worst defense in the CFL.

for the bomber games most of us hit up the chat, it's pretty solid

That was the other thing to really take note of in this game. Will be very interesting to see how the bombers offense does against a different opponent. It did sound like the Als D did a pretty good job with the Calgary offense... let's see how the bombers O does against the sisters of the poor in Guelph.
