Gdt: Saskatchewan Roughriders @ Toronto Argonauts 11/07

TV is out of order at work here (Boourns) so going by the comments here I can only assume that the new secondary for the argos still has plenty of holes in it eh. -
I Understand This Topic Has Been Beaten To Death But....

no Glenn doesn't use his legs, instead he makes quick throws to keep a defense honest. What makes him a better passer? well a quick look at the stats for each of them might provide some clues. For the ints Glenn throws, you can look at PIerce who's pretty good at chucking ints these days as well. Like I said, Pierce when he was able to run was a damned good qb, but that ability has left him and right now he's trying to play the game the same way Glenn does, and he isn't as good at it. For all Glenns problems we'd still be further ahead with him at the controls than Pierce at this stage of Pierces career. -

2010 called they want their arguments back. Seriously, the Buck Pierce of today is not the same guy who was a damned good qb when he was healthy. Glenn has his warts, but he is a better and more consistent passer than Buck Pierce is currently. Pierce used to make up for that with his legs, but when was the last time you saw Pierce make a defense pay with his legs? I'll provide a hint, it was early in the 2011 season against Edmonton. -

and how did that work out? The brilliant minds who planned that move seem to be not around any longer and for good reason. They handed a job to someone who didn't deserve it and Glenn had to step in and save that team from braindead decisions. I get that some people don't like Glenn, but he is at this moment in time a better qb than Pierce is. -
the thing about walker is that if you miss him once he might just run 70+ yards into the endzone. Not the kind of guy who will wear a defense down but he is a big play threat so gotta be careful of that.

yeah he's starting games for us. -
but that's mostly cause he spends more time on the IR than playing. When he's played he's been solid, just a big old case of injury prone.
-
well at think at this point in their careers that yes Tate is better than Pierce, but the big point is that neither one is able to stay healthy so let's look at better options because with either one you're still waiting for that more durable guy to step up.
-
Let's be honest, imports aren't really the concern with the expansion draft, it's the NIs that are the concern. Especially for Winnipeg. We're finally getting that area rebuilt to the point where it's not a huge gaping hole and now it's looking at a setback with Ottawa being able to grab some players.

Bryant Turner Wins All 4 Player Of The Week Awards; Gives Away 3
17to85 replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
defensive player of the week HAD to go to someone one the bombers defense. Turner takes it home but it really was a team award as far as I'm concerned. -
he was always known as a smart guy... Did you know that Scott Milanovich was a bloody 3rd string qb in the CFL? Guess he had nothing to add to Calvillo or Rays game either? How guys do as players has very little bearing on how good they are as coaches.
-
Well the questionability of it comes with all the interfering Bruce was doing himself. Yes JJ was interfering, but so was Bruce, call it both ways.
-
well the assumption is always that the player wants to stay in winnipeg and you've got a handshake deal in place with them... it's not perfect but at the same time it is just as much of a gamble for Ottawa to select people with no contracts.
-
well I would assume the logic is that they become free agents right away and you can just sign them back.
-
Damn you stamps for pulling a disappearing act in the 2nd half.
-
I dunno, is it not reasonable to think that if not for the upcoming expansion draft that they might have pulled the trigger on morley and gone with swiston starting and pencer as the backup? Seems like it's something that could have been done but was maybe held off on in light of the expansion draft.
-
yes exactly the point! and by not playing he stays off the radar. If he got to play and played well then there's a chance people notice him. Seriously why are people having a hard time understanding that concept?
-
would not surprise me in the least if Poblah wasn't protected. what is the contract status of some of the more notable NI players on this team anyway? I would suspect that guys who have expiring deals are likely to be left unsigned until after the expansion draft if possibe.
-
which is exactly the point. If he goes onto the roster and gets to play and play well it's just another guy who might start to show up on someones radar. If he's on the IR all year and just practising then he's not likely to draw any interest and you can leave him unprotected and likely not lose him all the while protecting someone else who might actually draw some interest like Swiston. Same reason there were a lot of guys drafted this past year who weren't going to show up in the CFL this season.
-
I think him not playing this year is to keep him off the radar for the expansion draft as much as anything.

I didn't even say the O, I said Simpson. Watching Hamilton both times it seems that their linebackers are failing hard. Get the rbs past the line and there's room to run and keep the sticks moving. The esks if they'd just kept handing the ball off could have absolutely killed the ticats. If Simpson is looking for a break out game this one looks to be the one to do it in.
-
if the bombers can't get Simpson going against the ticats defense next week then they absolutely fail.
-
so i just caught up with the game on the PVR... good lord what an ugly game by two teams that look pretty bad. Hamiltons defense is such a joke.
-
oh Hamilton, you so bad.... When will people stop pumping that teams tires every single offseason? They get so much benefit of the doubt in the media for some unknown reason despite never getting any better.
