  1. There absolutely is a giant sense of apathy towards the stamps that seems to have been growing for the past couple years. 26000 might seem good on the surface, but it's really the fact that despite having a good team the attendance is dropping and fans seem to be quitting on the team, at least in the sense that they're not willing to go to the games as readily. Not sure what the solution is but it'd probably help to engage the community a lot more.
  2. Not going to mess with what worked last week so I'll ride the Cornish train again.
  3. it's really quite sad how the CFL is perceived. I play in a rec flag football league and just going by what people around there think it seems that the stamps and the CFL are just not in the forefront at all. All NFL fans who at best have a casual interest in the CFL and that's a damned shame. Honestly seems like the stamps kind of took support for granted... but then again southern Alberta sports fans are just the worst thing in the world as well.
  4. I did enjoy watching Ferri get absolutely obliterated by the o-lineman on that int return though, serves him right.
  5. if the esks keep looking this bad then yeah I think Kavis walks the plank. Saw a lot of undisciplined stuff from them and to me that goes back to the coach.
  6. the esks o-line was giving up so much pressure Reilly was clearly frustrated and afraid and just not able to get anything going. Feel kind of bad for edmonton fans because TIllman ****** that team like they were an asian babysitter.
  7. the kicker being hurt could be a big issue for toronto as this game goes on... or Ray could just keep putting em in the endzone but man what a wild game from a neutral point of view.
  8. was there anyone withing 30 yards of that guy? man oh man, usually defense has the advantages early in the season.
  9. based on what I've seen so far, at least the Bombers appear to have the top defense in the eastern conference... now about that offense....
  10. that argo secondary is absolutely being taken to school tonight. Not sure if rookies learning or just terrible players.
  11. both defenses look like garbage so far
  12. and then the argos special teams poop themselves and give up a return right back
  13. First FNF of the season, here's our discussion thread. So far looks like the same old Ticat defense. Ray just shredded em on the opening drive.
  14. At this point Edwards is pretty much just the veteran leadership out there and I don't have a problem with it. Matthews is clearly the #1 guy right now.
  15. The TD pass to Denmark was a pretty tough throw, gotta be in the right place cause the db was all over Denmark there. The throw to Edwards at the end on 3rd down was a pretty money throw as well, too bad the refs botched that one. I do agree with your main point though.
  16. don't forget the cane so you can wave it around as you yell at kids.
  17. because receivers aren't supposed to be running routes 5 yards out of bounds and they aren't 1 foot ball to catch balls thrown into the dirt.
  18. man oh man, it sucks to lose Gilmore, and Stephan is just made of glass. 2 years, hurt in the first game twice while only playing special teams.
  19. yeah, to me it was all about having a guy kicking around with a little bit of experience should disaster strike.
  20. hmm but is that because he's really the 3rd best or because Lulay is young and doesn't get hurt much so the Lions want a younger project taking 2nd string reps so they have a future plan for after Lulay? Where Elliott actually stands with the Lions will only be seen if something happens to Lulay this year. To me he's there as insurance in case their project guy isn't able to step in should they need to turn to #2
  21. that was huge after all the trouble they've had in the redzone the last few seasons.
  22. I think people are just looking at the PI penalty and carrying over their opinions from last year to Johnsons game last night. He was solid, I thought all the dbs were truthfully. Sure there were some mistakes buy guys, but overall the defense did a good job.
  23. quoting because it needs to be said.... They left a lot of plays out there last night, they gave Montreal a lot of chances with turnovers, they took some ill timed penalties... but despite all that they had their chances to win. This roster is good enough to win, time to clean up the mistakes in a hurry and start making more plays when they're available.
  24. There were lots of positives to be had out there. The defense looked pretty good, yeah they made some mistakes and msised some plays (should have at least knocked down the ball on that Green td and probably should have come up with the pick) They had Calvillo rattled from the get go and that's very encouraging going forward. Dunn looked real good at sam, didn't notice parker a lot but that's probably ok at this point, the d-line I thought was very good, Secondary was pretty decent too. People like to rag on JJ for that PI, but even though he did get his hands on Bruce I think it's bullshit to single out the defender when there was that much fighting going on between the two. Bruce was interfering with Johnson as much as vice versa so while JJ did interfere I think in that situation you gotta let em fight or call the receiver for his interference as well. Offensively there were a lot of good things too, but the elephant in the room was Pierce. He flat out needs to be better. Noeller has been trying to tell me all morning that it's just rust it'll be fine, I just saw too much of what many of us were worried about leading up to the season... that being that Pierce is not the guy to be a consistent pocket passer. If he doesn't step up his game bigtime and become a dangerous passer I'm sadly going to be rooting for an injury to the guy so we can at least get someone with potential to get better in there because right now it's wasting a lot of talent. There were a lot of plays left on the field out there and the patented Pierce int on the sidelines showed up on the first throw! Pierce has been throwing too many of those balls to defenders the last couple seasons and it puts the team in a real bad spot.
  25. yeah those are the issues I mentioned that PIerce had. So terrified of getting hit that he feels the heat and he can't do anything. I will say this too, that non called PI on 3rd down was absolute bullshit. They still had a chance to be heros and make a late play there but the refs botched it.
