  1. Both of the game 7 were good ones, coulda gone either way in both of them. Very glad the Hawks ended up winning just because of the waved off goal.
  2. agree to disagree. the Era of Popp's (96-12) numbers speak for themself: 12-6, 13-5, 12-5-1, 12-6, 12-6, 9-9, 13-5-0-1, 13-5, 14-4, 10-8, 10-8, 8-10, 11-7, 15-3, 12-6, 10-8, 11-7 only ONE losing season in SEVENTEEN. 3 GC Wins, 5 GC appearances. us fans should all be so fortunate. (that being said... i hope they finally drop off this year... maybe the coaches have trouble adjusting to our game... and all of that veteran talent starts getting nicked up...) but again, Calvillo defying age helps that immensely. They're the only team in the east that hasn't had to find a new qb the entire length of time he's been there. Then you look at how god awful the ticats were for most of that time, how bad the renegades were for most of that time, how bad the argos were for long stretches of that time, the bombers had a quite good stretch but were in the west for a good portion of it, had a few decent stretches and a lot of bad ones... That record is inflated by weak competition to me. It'll go down in the record books no doubt, but I think the real telling thing there, is the grey cups appearaces and wins. You said yourself only 1 losing season, but in 17 seasons only 5 grey cup appearances and only 3 wins? Says to me they were the best of a bad lot in the east but not superior to the top teams in the west all that often.
  3. It's kinda funny how cranky he is over it, guess he realized that all of a sudden he had to actually run his own site.
  4. To me they get the early nod just based on less uncertainties. They know who their qb is, they know that they have a quality head coach. I'd put Montreal ahead if they didn't have a total question mark at head coach but for now we need to see what the new guy does for them, and if this is the year Calvillo finally craps out. i want to think that this time, finally, Popp has made a big decision and gotten it wrong (Dan Hawkins)... but it just never seems to happen does it? based on Popp's track record, i'm going to presume that the Alouette's coaching will be at least solid (and likely better than that). Calvillo's play will be the same as it's been lo these many years of his MOP calibre play... presuming he stay's uninjured. he's hard to get to, and even harder to get a hard lick on, but it takes less and less to hurt him (and get him of his game viz: EDF). they could plummet... but their demise has been foretold so many times that it's just a cliche at this point for them to end up hosting playoff games when everyone thought they'd finally regress. well sooner or later they'll fall off, I maintain that their "dominance" is overblown based on the east being so weak for so much of the last 15 years or so. Just some terrible teams in it for a lot of years. Hell any time the bombers had a winning record the Als weren't playing in the Grey Cup.
  5. I wonder how long Edwards is able to hold on for... he's not getting any younger and the way Mack finds receivers.... Obviously his veteran presence is key but at what point do they decide that youth trumps experience?
  6. You know at first I thought it was a silly idea to have the twitter stuff going on the side but god damn it if it hasn't grown on me. It's a real nice feature.
  7. I think it's more like just the way the league is trending. Fullbacks are less fullbacks as they are tight ends. Get someone who can handle all the responsibilities of both and line up in a variety of positions on the field etc etc. Wouldn't expect a fullback to ever take a handoff, but catch passes out of the backfield for sure.
  8. is someone able to summarize anything interesting for those of us who can't listen? It'd be much appreciated. So far: Everyone's raving about Max Hall. Irving thinks we'll see more of Goltz than we expect (in wildcat). cool. Very intrigued by Hall, hopefully it translates into games and not just practises because this team sorely needs a fresh face at qb I think.

  11. Yeah I like Renaud but by god a Cameron punting for the Bombers is just such a natural thing I hope to god it happens.
  12. in the CFL 8 wins gets your into the playoffs guaranteed, 7 is even good enough some of the years. 10 wins had you in contention for top spot I think so there's not as much ground to make up in the standings as people might think.
  13. Unlikely that Mack will spend the money he's likely to command. I honestly trust Mack to fine defensive ends anyway. I'd suspect that Taman ponies up the dough and gets the guy signed, there's a need there I think and it fits Tamans MO to spend on guys like that.
  14. Maximum currently set at 3. If it becomes too messy, we can lower it to 1 or 2. i'd rather you up'd it. I dunno, 3 seems like a good number.
  15. SACRILEGE! How can people honestly say this? Cherry is nothing if not the most entertaining man in the hockey world. You haven't lived until you've drank along with the Don Cherry Piano Desk.
  16. *insert girlish squeal*
  17. I heard some idiots stole his coffee and muffins.... but yes it was a good show, for some reason a song like big league really was popular at a CHL event... no idea why...
  18. Sorry Bluto but I'm really not a doer, I'm more of a sit back and tell people they're doing it wrong kind of person.
  19. The more I look around the more I like this place. OB.com had gotten so stale and almost tedious, hopefully this place can liven things up a bit. Of course training camps opening up always helps that I guess, still good job guys.
  20. Have never, will never understand the hate for Claude Noel. What he gets out of this sad-sack roster is almost unbelievable. The Jets have little to no talent and have massively over-achieved for 1.5 seasons now. IMO, Noel should be up for Coach Of The Year. Torts and Vaigneault would be massive downgrades. Now, if Quenville becomes available, that's another story.... What about Dave Tippett? If you want to watch soul destroying boring assed hockey sure. Good coach for sure, but his teams are about as exciting as watching paint dry. The Jets have a good coach in Noel I think, fans just expect way too much out of a pretty crappy roster. It's going to be ugly seeing them play tougher western teams next year though. That cream puff SE division I think has fooled a lot of winnipeg fans into thinking the Jets are a better team than they actually are.
  21. I like the Pens but not because I live in Calgary & Iginla plays for them... Never been a true fan of the guy. When he was playing for the Flames all those years he missed the playoffs more than he made them. Never wanted to play in the World Championships. Rather be on the golf course in BC in April than representing his country. I always thought the way he turned his back on Team Canada was indicative of the kind of leader he was here in Calgary. Never hungry enough to inspire his teammates as Flames Captain. Always making excuses. It was a shame Iginla shunned the worlds and team canada, but I think as far as a leader goes he was fantastic for the flames. Got a lot more out of those crappy, crappy rosters than they rightly should have.
  22. Let's be honest, the entire season comes down to how the qbs do so there's going to be a magnifying glass on them all training camp, going to be a hell of a good time watching and seeing if they can step up and make the most of their opportunities.
  23. what's the point of having foes? If you block all the morons who can you possibly argue with?
  24. One of the highlights of training camp for those of us who don't live in Winnipeg is reading everyones reports. Don't let me down.
