I remember Saturday as well. Nothing wrong with it. The bright side to a Saturday game is people can party Saturday night after the game rather than go back to their hotel getting ready to fly home Sunday. Might also be easier with employers to get days off all on 1 week than spreading it out over 2.
-
I agree 100%. I went on a couple of other CFL sites like this & there was a number of fans that liked Saturday & thought it was a progressive step. Then it was changed back to Sunday & I just felt that the league missed its chance at really finding out what the numbers would have been without NFL competition those 2 Saturdays. But these type of goofs seem to happen all too frequently with the CFL. Releasing a schedule on its website. How difficult is that? We'll never see a mistake like that with the NHL or NFL.

What's the diff between doing that & kneeling down? Team is up by two scores with no timeouts & 30 seconds on the clock. game is over. Difference is we have to run a play or two while the NFL just lets the clock run out. I can tell you if a CFL team is up by 2 scores & they have the ball with 20 seconds left they're not playing anymore either at that point kneeling down other than powder puff standing up no contact football.

I was talking about competition from the NFL. Football fans are split. You have guys like Noeller who hate the NFL - definitely I believe in the minority which I totally understand & then football fans who love the NFL & won't watch a CFL game as they think the league is Mickey Mouse. Then other fans like me who like both but would prefer to watch both separately on weekends. As in CFL Fridays & Saturday followed by the NFL on Sundays. Yes, there's NHL hockey in November, thanks for telling me holoman. Yep the playoff races are really heating up a few days around Remembrance Day unlike the NFL which is starting into the second half of its schedule. After the Super Bowl is when I really start paying attention to the NHL.

I think Saturday would have been a good move. No competition other than the NHL on Saturdays.
-
Wow, leave it to the CFL to screw up their schedule. Unbelievable. How can such a big mistake like that happen?
-
You're in the vast minority, Noeller. The majority of Canadian football fans watch the NFL now so why fight it? I started following the CFL 51 years ago & am one of the biuggest CFL fans around but even I know that the CFL can't go head to head against the NFL. Then why do it? The biggest drawback to CFL coverage are the in stadium announcers on TSN. So tired of Rod Black & being thrown in our face that it's getting to the point that come last September I was starting to tune out the CFL if an NFL game was on. It's nice to turn on an NFL game & not actually be upset or annoyed at the poor quality of pbp & analysis we put up with up here on TSN. With guys like Black on the mic I just see myself watching fewer & fewer games once the NFL season starts. I see Saturday Grey Cups coming back probably next year if the ratings numbers are good for the Saturday playoff games this season. This, to me is a trial run.

Asked this earlier... Quick poll. Would you care if the Grey Cup was played on Saturday or Sunday? Y or N?

Uniform changes with Adidas may not be dramatic

In cold water. That's why I only wear my Brock jersey to a game once a year & maybe one other time during the season. Like Grey Cup day no matter what team is playing taking great care not to spill any food or drink on it. -
How would you feel about the Grey Cup being played Saturday instead of Sunday for the first time since circa 1969.
-
What a terribly bland website the CFL has now... Ugh.
-
I'm glad to see it. But the start times, what's that all about?
-
All east & west playoff games start at 5 pm. How's that going to work? There's only 1 hour time difference between Winnipeg & down east & 2 hrs in Alberta? Surely they won't play the games simultaneously. That makes no sense.
-
The NFL. Notice for the first time all playoff games are on Saturday? They might as well go Saturday for the playoffs as people are in NFL Fantasy leagues & it has never been more popular & I'm sure it affects ratings having to go head to head with the NFL. I wonder if the Grey Cup will ever be changed back to Saturday?

Compared to the phantom goofball we have now as Commish, it would be a brilliant move.
-
I'm all for building new stadiums when needed but this kind of opulence for an NFL team is absolutely a waste of taxpayers money. Just crazy.
-
It's about time this happened. Going with 4 or 5 Nationals is just too difficult.
-
Yeah, I feel the same way about the Riders but I think as fans sometimes we forget that the players are people just like us. Some guys are jerks but the majority of them are genuinely nice guys. Some, like Pinball are special who open their hearts for others.

Muamba probably want a 1 year deal. To me, we can spend in other ways & like someone said earlier after the Tour was over & he signed in Montreal the hype was over. Did Popp screw him over, probably? But he was willing to screw over any team that signed him last year so it works both ways. Don't have a lot of sympathy for Henoc. I lost a lot of respect for him.

"When McQuay slipped, I fell". Leo Cahill, 1972.

There aren't many untouchables on the team. Changes are inevitable.

Pinball's a positive guy. He once flew to Calgary for the funeral of my son's friend almost ten years ago. He had met the boy a couple of years earlier but I don't remember the circumstances as to why. Unfortunately, the teen committed suicide. My son met him at the funeral. Pinabll didn't have to come & it wasn't expected but he did. Clemons even got up & said a few words. That's just the kind of guy he is. So really, why diss Pinball who is one of the nicest guys around?
-
Cahill was a real CFL character. Called Leo The Lip by the media because he always spoke what was on his mind. He did a lot to promote the Argos from 1968-72 in his first run with the team like signing high profile NCAA college players like Joe Theismann, Jim Corrigal, Leon McQuay, Jim Stillwagon & Tim Anderson back in the day.
-
Unfortunately when a team loses so many games this is bound to happen. Changes are inevitable. No veteran from last season other than Drew Willy or Westerman is safe.

Taxpayers in Minnesota shelled out a lot of money for this place. A lot of angst was shed before it passed the Minnesota Legislature. The owner threatened to move the Vikings if the funding for that palace was approved. And people complain about the cost of Investors Group Field here.
