Mike isn't very adept at handling questions from a media that I don't think is really that tough on him. He loses his patience & can be very short with them even though I believe the majority of the reporters & broadcasters are on his side. I mean Lawless was his biggest cheerleader at season end & who would ever have thought that? Lawless? Who's next, Wiecek? A lot of coaches can side step landmines or fresh cow dung being thrown at them at pressers. They all get angry but over time they get good at handling the media. Mike still has a lot to learn, I think. And SPuDS, if the media never asked questions then everything would be done in secrecy & there'd be no news so I don't think that's a good thing either. It's not a sense of entitlement. It's how you build a fanbase & maintain or get people interested.

I was being sincere btw, Dee.

Merry Christmas, Dee. Hope Santa is good to you this year. That the coming year is your best yet for you & your family. I'm not the Bomber Head Coach. Big difference.

I think a lot of players know their playing window is short so I think a majority want to sign with teams they think have a chance to win a championship. Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa(?) well **** that...
-
The HC is also a PR position especially here as Mike has decided to be the only face of the team. If that face doesn't behave well because he has to field questions he didn't like after a loss well, that's on him because that's what he signed up for & should have known better. Once I see O'Shea improve in that area I'll know he's actually growing into his role as HC.

That's not what MOS said . He said when talking to fans that he was going to let his coaches talk to the media when he was initially hired but Darren Cameron suggested not doing that. Thanks Darren, now the media deals with & fans see a coach in front of the cameras who clearly doesn't want to be there all snarly or evasive. He doesn't seem to get the fact that part of his job as HC is to deal with the media. The Winnipeg media is nothing like coaches in NFL cities like San Francisco, New York or Dallas have to deal with. This is a small 9 team league well behind the NHL in local & national coverage. As much as I think the 2 malcontents in the Wpg media (Wiecek & Friesen) act stupid questions or make questionable statements in a presser after 2 full seasons O'Shea should be able to handle them yet he seems he can't.

Nik was a great player but truthfully he shouldn't criticize other players as he has his own problems to worry about as in will he even make the Als next season?
-
I can just see Wade Miller, seeing this thread but knowing what the fans want anyway & with an evil laugh he ignores the masses & tells Adidas he wants a completely different redesign.
-
If he's going to growl, scowl & smirk his way thru another season of his after game pressers clearly annoyed having to be there to answer questions then he's just hurting his chances of being here after 2016 if the team struggles. To me, not having access to the coaching staff isn't the smartest thing.

He'd be more than fodder, I think he can be a pretty good back.

Yeah but... what design? The retro look everyone wants or something brand new that satsfies no one??

Keep up the good work, Rich.

Anticipating Big Changes or Small by Camp?
iso_55 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Have an actual dedicated run game, improved offensive line & keep Willy upright we have a chance. Not convinced Hurl is the answer at MLB... Maybe we get 8 wins. Enough for a playoff spot? Marginal chance. -
Mostly fluff. I mean, MOS was asked if he was a Star Wars fan. I don't like the continuation of Mike Controlling The Message. I think that's wrong & Darren Cameron should never have suggested it. MOS hates talking to the media. I know we have a couple of dicks in the press corps in particular Wiecek & Friesen but MOS sometimes doesn't hide his disdain & looks a time he'd rather pass a turd in the can than talk to the media. He's always in a hurry to get through a presser. I think at times that behaviour turns the fans against him as he comes acros as arrogant & impatient appearing to talk down to the media & looking pissed off. I think there's nothing wrong every once in awhile for the coordinators to talk to the media as a change up & when MOS is upset or just doesn't want to face the media after a game. Especially LaPo who understand the media now after being with TSN for 2 seasons is a lot better talking to them than Mike is. So, I think the policy of MOS not letting any coaches especially the coordinators talk is hurting him more than helping him.

I think he is. But Dinwiddie will be his pair of eyes from upstairs. Too many injuries suffered in previous years. I dont think he completed a year without being injured. This

You guys complaining about lack of snow clearing? Come live in Calgary where the city never does the residential streets. Huge ice ruts, cars getting stuck, homeowners have to clean the public sidewalk in front of their house or face fines by the City by law officers. With the wild temp swings we get the residential streets & sidewalks become skating rinks when the temp goes below freezing. The attitude of ourt city is just wait for a Chinnok, & the wind will melt the snow. In Calgary we pay property taxes & get nothing for it.

In & out of jail for most of his adult life. Arrested 20 times for drug possession. Okay, if that's not wasting your life then what is. With Herron's pure football skill he could have done a lot with his life because of the money he made & helped others. He was an addict. He lost everything. Not every player that put on the Bomber uniform is someone to look up to. I was a fan 43 years ago. Not now. The man has died, he's out of any anguish he suffered. You are clueless to Herron's life. His criminal record was a result of lifestyle crimes. Not property crimes. Not violent crimes. Crimes in Canada that a person would not spend time in jail. In fact, players in professional football today, would not be banished for first time drug use. His banishment was in the unenlightened days. He grew up in the third most crime ridden district of 77 in Chicago. You wouldn't be able to walk 15 minutes through that area, Lawndale. Tell the folks in Lawndale they are wasting there lives. Your 15 minutes would be generous. 40% of the adults have not graduated high school. Unemployment approaches 20%. Average income is $11,000.00. Destitute ex footballers is not a new concept. It often goes with the territory and cannot be blamed on bad choices. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/marshall-plan-nfl-retirees-cte-fundraisers-article-1.1594828 I would like to see you alter you're opinion. An opinion that allows for the unimaginable in your view. We are very lucky that we have many more advantages than others. We shouldn't take it for granted. What has CTE got to do with Herron who was into drugs as a teenager from everything I read about him? Dealing & trafficking heroin is dangerous not only to a guy like Herron but other innocent people around him are put at risk. Other people have come from bad, gang infested neighbourhoods in the US & made a life for themselves. Others didn't. Football gave Herron a way out & he didn't take it. He made some bad decisions so... alter my opinion, no. I coached football 15 years ago with a guy from the US who grew up near Detroit. He told me some harrowing stories of life growing up there in the 70's. How he had to go to school in a different neighbourhood. How the turf where he lived was controlled by one gang & the school another. The gunfire. He said he was scared for his life everyday. He didn't get pulled into gang life & stayed away from drugs. His escape from reality was football & his very strong belief in God. He played high school football because he was passionate about the game but he also felt safe with his coaches & teammates I forget how he got to Calgary. His wife is from here so I imagine that is how he immigrated to Canada. He is a deeply religious man & he said his faith in God got him through. I think it's all about choices. He made good life choices & actually did get out & is living a happy, full life here now.

Yes, I have Bell as well. No issues at all.

Rogers tried to kill off the Argos. As a CFL fan, that alone makes me never, ever want to own a Rogers device of any kind. As a fan, don't put money into that company. I have Bell & I never have any issues with coverage. Go with MTS.

I'm willing to give LaPo a chance. Maybe his forte is being an OC instead of a HC. I usually criticize everything that Walters & O' Shea do. Not this time though. I think Paul & Drew will work well together. Looking forward to see how they do.

I don't think it'll ever happen. The circumstances & the way Mack Herron left the team & the history after. Had he never had any other convictions then yes, I believe the Bombers would have honoured him in some way. Now, I just can't see it happening. Let me just say this about Mack Herron the player. I was fortunate to see him play. To me, he was just as dominating a back as Willard Reaves or Willie Burden. He could play & dominate in today's game. He was only 5'4 & weighed 195 lbs with legs like tree trunks. Herron was strong as a bull, fast, agile, could make tacklers miss or run over them. Because of his (lack of) height he was hard to tackle & actually could hide for a split second in the wash on the OL on a handoff. Tacklers lost track of him as they couldn't see him. Then, he was gone & no one on the field would catch him. Herron was the CFL's leading rusher in 1972 with 1,527 yards. He also returned kickoffs. There were games where he put the Bombers on his back & won games grinding it out on the field. Herron was an outstanding running back, maybe one of the best who ever played with his natural ability & talent. I haven't seen another back like him since. He was a BIG little man.

Cortez among OC's on Bomber wish list
iso_55 replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah, Howell has been with the bombers for five years, the move to QB coach would be to groom him to be an HC/OC eventually. I think Buck had some really bad habits... long reads, trouble checking down, leading with his head... I don't want him anywhere near the QBs. That makes no sense. -
Sure, why not. Whatever. WWE Network and Wrestlemania

I appreciate what you're saying. But the phrase you use saying NA fans are smarter than you think means they wouldn't accept the Omega-9 yr old girl as a legit match.
