Chris Jones to Saskatchewan Roughriders confirmed
iso_55 replied to blueandgoldguy's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Steinhaur turns down a chance to coach the Grey Cup champs? Especially with that defense & Mike Reilly as their qb. He'll never walk into a better situation as a head coach. He's crazy. -

It'll be a **** show over there if he doesn't get off to a good start. -
Cortez among OC's on Bomber wish list
iso_55 replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You should. The CFL is a constantly evolving league. Would you want Wally Buono as a head coach these days? I sure wouldn't. Why? Because the game has passed him by, and there's an argument to be made that the same thing has happened to Cortez. Cortez wouldn't be my first choice. Like I said ... if Willy likes him enough, fine. But I'm wary of hiring him. Whoa I'd take Buono over MOS any day of the week not even close. How do you know the game has passed Cortez or Buono by? Because they're over 60 so naturally they know nothing about offenses & defenses anymore. Wally has become a bad GM because he tries to replace veterans with chepaer rookies but it really didn't work. He did the same in Calgary & always got away with it because of great depth until 2002 when the floor fell through as well as dealing with wacky new ownership in F Troop. . But even so, constantly turning over the personnel eventually will cause problems as it has the past 2 seasons in BC. But the game passing those 2 by? No, I don't believe that for a second. Not until I see it on the field in losses. I think Cortez did a masterful job coaching up Jonathan Jennings this past season. Cortez did his job as a coach, Wally did a lousy job as a GM. -
Honest Opinion - is CFL considered a "semi-pro" league?
iso_55 replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Back in 2009, the offense we see now were just getting started. The zone read was something fairly new. It was used in college & people thought it wwould never work in pro football but it was made for the wider field. Now it's just boring football, Seldom do qbs run with the football so linebackers or DE's don't have to worry about that threat anyway. -
Maybe if you defined the term & give us a bit of background behind it that would help.

Meanwhile no punishment for taking PEDS. That's our CFL & CFLPA who both don't care about player safety.

Wicek article on former Bomber greats and concussions.

Sorry to read those guys are struggling. My thoughts & prayers go out to them & their families in the months & years to come. My father had dementia & it wasn't easy for myself & my family to deal with it. Sports is a risk but I can tell you that none of them thought playing football would lead to something like Dementia or Alzheimers. -

The play this year with all the qb injuries & flags was below what we have come to expect. The quality of both players & play with the same zone read base play does make it seem amateurish at times. No one has any new ideas anymore. Teams run the same stuff all the time all across the league. When was the last time a qb took the ball from center & dropped back 3 or 5 steps & threw the football on second & long? Every play, except short yardage is gun snap. Boring. -
What's the point of posting a Free Press article when a lot of us can't read it? Anyway, the man was a drug addict & had been since he was a teenager. Since his playing days, I would imagine he's spent more time in jail than out. Drugs not only ruined his life addictions killed him.

How often have you actually apologized for any of those things? It's always white people's fault here. We treat all refugees like ****. If Logan says so then IT MUST BE TRUE.

Pretty simple for me. I hate the Riders. I don't care who they play. Even if a Rider loss affects our playoff chances I hate that team enough to still want them to lose. I never want them to win. They almost had a perfect season 0-18 but that was spoiled when 3 CFL teams including us felt sorry for them & let them win. I laugh at every interception, fumble, bad penalty call & resulting loss that happens to them. For me, goes back to Roy Shivers & just how much of a **** he was as Riders GM. The Riders fanbase are a bunch of bandwagon jumpers & some of the idiots like Migs come on to other team's websites to gloat when they were winning only to crawl back into their caves when they lose. It's mostly the fanbase that is the problem. I don't hate the players, I hate the fanbase. -
Tired of having to apologize for the colour of my skin, my way of life, in the country where I was born. Or for the fact I've never experienced war disease, sickness or starvation in my life. Not every "fat white person" treats refugees badly.

Really poor choice of weapon for an an effective terrorist attack. Guess he couldn't find a sale on Uzi's at his local gun shop. Yeah, too bad he didn't have pipe bombs, grenades & semi automatic rifles. There/s nothing worse than a terrorist who doesn't think things through.

Former Stamps Running Back Willie Burden Passes Away
iso_55 replied to iso_55's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
George Hopkins the Stamps Equipment Manager who's been with the team since the 70's said Willie was the nicest player he ever met. Polite, always smiling. He said he met a few low life players in his time that came & went along with the greats but Burden was the best. -
Funny if Desjardins lost a bunch of key players to FA just to be able to laugh at him. I really do hope the shoe is on the other foot this off season.

I don't think so. He was on the waiting list for a heart transplant according to a story that ran in the Calgary Herald Sepember 2nd. -

Just saw this & so far no local media outlet in Calgary has jumped on it & I'm not surprised. If this was the NHL there'd be columns already posted at the Calgary Herald & Sun. Former Stamps running back Willie Burden #10 has passed away. http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/nc-state/article48083700.html -

Good thing you have a very limited understanding of wrestling and live performance.Feel free to detail some things you've done so I can insult it. I've watched wrestling for decades.I'm not the 'insider" like you but I know what I like & don't. Wanna talk AWA from the 60's? You're perfectly entitled to like what you like. I wasnt alive in the 60's. We're you involved in wrestling back then? But for sure you can discuss it. I have some knowledge but not a lot. I wasn't into it til the 80's Speaking of Bob Sapp. He's doing a "shoot" fight with Akebono in Japan. My point is, I respect your inside knowledge but don't dismiss someone & make them out to be totally stupid just because their version of taste is different from yours. I'm older & the generation gap is showing here but don't dismiss what I think as others feel the same. Which is what I think you're doing here. You're having a hard time getting your head around the fact that I & others didn't like the match even though you felt both were great workers & did all of these cool moves. I don't care what they did in the ring, I did find the match creepy & the girl was put in a dangerous position if a move backfired which has happened in the ring many times before. If I didn't like the match with the 9 year old there are lots of fans who didn't. Just like there are fans that did. -

It's been well documented that millions of wrestling fans from the Attitude Era don't watch wrestling anymore. Raw's numbers are shrinking as you have told us. I am a wrestling fan.I don't like Japanese wrestling. It doesn't mean I don't like the business. I don't like matches like the little girl's as I want some semblance of believability when I watch. -

A lot of stuff sounds awful on paper & is not funny in person. If that's funny, I'm out. No wonder wrestling fans are flocking to MMA & UFC. -

The story from Craig Reynolds (a fairly reliable source) is he asked Huff if he was interested... Huff said no... end of conversation... there was never an "offer"... That still is tampering. But this is the CFL so it's pretty much a joke. -
They never boxed in Richard Rodgers. No one was in front of him. He was open as the ball was coming & he just out jumped everyone. Pretty shitty defensive coverage by the Lions but hell, they are the Packers. That. Is. What. They. Do!! Plays like that just remind me why I love football so much!
