Well, bully for her. That makes it right. No offense but I don't agree. Im not saying it makes it right. But it makes it legal. And its not a justification for capital punishment. And while Im generally a tough on crime advocate, I also believe in rehabilitation and second chances. Some inmates can't or refuse to be rehabilitated & don't deserve a second chance. Not everyone is/was worth saving. Especially Clifford Olsen.

I agree these things are heinous but the sytem isn't perfect and one innocent person executed is too much. I do think prisoners should have to pay their society back to debt with labour though Those convictions I refer to were iron clad. Especially Olsen. He boasted & laughed how he killed those kids knowing where they were all buried yet refused to say where for all of them. He wanted to write a book. I believe at one point there was talk of a movie & he complained to the media saying he should be able to profit off of both. He knew he'd never get out so he put the families through hell whenever he could. He also knew he'd never be executed so he had no fear of dying. The man was sadistic, heinous, conniving, cunning & manipulative.

Henoc on his way to Hamilton & Toronto for visit

Never, ever. -
Bernardo who was also convicted of other rapes & his wife Karla Homolka who is now free under an assumed name. She even remarried & is allowed to have children after all that happened. Both should have been executed for what they did to Homolka's sister. Clifford Olsen who raped, tortured, strangled & bludgeoned 11 (that Police know of) children while tormenting the families of the dead kids during his trial & subsequent parole hearings should have been put to death. He loved the attention he got from the news media. Luckily, cancer did the job our justice system wouldn't do in 2011 when he passed away. Robert Picton murdered 6 women & buried them on his pig farm in BC. From all accounts, the crime scene was absolutely horrific yet he lives. The guy who murdered those police officers in cold blood in Halifax. There's another guy sitting in jail who should have been executed. However, at least the law was changed by the Conservatives so he isn't allowed parole for 35 years, I believe. It's still not enough time served if he is someday released at the end of those 35 years. Yes, I'm all for the death penalty for individuals like these.

It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...
iso_55 replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I bet Glenn won't be back next year but I dunno... at this stage the season is probably lost. Playing a 36 year old qb as opposed to a 24 year old one who needs the experience to improve. If I was a Rider fan I don't know what I'd want. Hope for this year or the future. The future isn't a CFL retread like Glenn. -

So then why can't the Argos get an alternate date? Why do they have to leave? Argo fans are being treated like ****. If the Argos are doing this deliberately to their fans then I'm speechless. -

The Riders are 1-10 & playing Glenn. Why? If Dyce & O'Day were interested in the future they'd keep playing Smith & letting younger qbs get their reps as well but they want their interim titles to become permanent so they play the guy at qb they think will give them the best chance to win. Proof that giving people interim terms isn't always for the best. Glenn is 36 years old... he is not the future. I doubt he'lleven be with the Riders next season. -
Oh yes. I don't know why you can't be a conservative & not be religious. I'm definitely not a social conservative. That guy Huckabee in the US sticking up for Kim Davis is a joke.

The way the CFL used to promote it's product ...

A CFL All Star Game memory. In 1970, the CFL All Stars played the GC champs Ottawa Rough Riders. The Bombers only all star & best player, flanker Ken Nielsen career ended when he ran full speed into the goal post & injured his neck & back. He has his head turned concentrating on catching a pass from Ron Lancaster. Fluke injury. Never played again. -

I'm sure it's Rogers being dicks. And there are so many Jays fans here. Rogers want to kill the Argos & the CFL. I'll never cheer for that team or buy a Rogers device or product. -
The point is God or religion shouldn't factor into it either way. That's it.
-
I'm for the death penalty & God has no place or influence in my feelings about it. Who said he did? How can God not be in the discussion it if religion is mentioned? Does He have an assistant that answers His emails & letters?

The actor in this ad did the Mio commercials which were pretty funny.

Ha, I started smoking in HS back in 1973 after I tried a Colt cigarello so seeing those commercials brought back some memories. Strange seeing them on television in this day & age. From smoking Colts cigarellos, I graduated to cigarettes shortly thereafter. Didn't quit until 1996 when I was a 2 pack a day smoker. Quit cold turkey as well. Just threw my last pack away, said **** it & never looked back. Been absolutely smoke free now... not one cigarette since for 19 years. As far as football goes, that video was fun to watch. That was back in the day when the CFL had an All Star Game. Ray Odums was a shut down corner & one of the best anywhere. He used to be a Blue Bomber. I think he came up here in 1975 & was a wide receiver but was moved to corner where he really developed into a great player. Played for us, the Stamps & Riders. However, getting back to the All Star game, the GC champs played the rest of the CFL. That game was in Calgary in the pre season in 1978. I love skill competitions. It'd be great if we could do something like that again. -
His grimmace after the sack was classic.

Not that old news so the mention of the Argos losing another home game is still valid... Man, that would absolutely suck. You'd think they'd book Tim Horton's Field in Hamilton to make things easier. -
Kids growing up want to play in the CFL. That's what I mean. When they get there & have success, sure absolutely agree.
-
Sure that happens but not many make it. If anything, in HS you have players that want to play in the NCAA. If they have NFL aspirations it's somewhere down the road a long way. There are those who have the talent & the work ethic to get there & they do go somewhere on a scholarship. There are others who may have the talent & potential to be a scholarship NCAA player but when it is explained the kind of work that's needed in the weight room as well as in class to get there they balk at doing what needs to be done. Most players are like a lot of kids they aren't focused enough all through HS so they end up playing junior football which is in itself a great accomplishment & later go on to CIS careers. Others go to junior ball or CIS & find out they're fifth on the depth chart become disenchanted & quit. To get into a CIS program is tough because of the academic requirements of most universities. So, if a very good player doesn't have the marks his only option is junior. Bottom line trying to tell a grade 10 to buckle down & work hard in school is a challenging thing to do with a 15 year old. A lot of times these kids don't figure things out until it's too late. This really has nothing to do with the discussion other than what it's like to deal with & coach high school players trying to help them decide what is best for them. I had discussions with more than a few players over the years not sure what to do. One thing I was always cognizant of was that I was never a dream stealer. If the third string qb came up to me & said coach I want to play at the U of C, I never told him he couldn't. We discussed what he needed to do get there.
-
In his interview today he said he's here to put up some good film so he can get back to the NFL. He's got the right attitude, but it's clear what his goal is. No offense here Gbill - but what do you think all the CFL players want to do? Lets see, I can get my head torn off up here for minimum wage, or I can be a backup in the NFL and make 7 to 10 x the money. It's just refreshing to hear someone admit it for once. No one, absolutely no one, grows up in the US and dreams of playing in the CFL one day, and I highly doubt many Canadian kids do either (once they read the age of understanding the power of money). When I was a Canadian kid I dreamt of playing for the Bombers. It didn't work out but CFL football is what inspired me to lift weights, train and develop athletically. I'm sure I'm not the only one. My son plays at SFU & I can tell you unequivocably & without a doubt his dream is to play in the CFL. That has been his dream ever since he started playing at age 9. He watches every CFL game & very few NFL ones. I coached football for 15 years & I don't know of any player that said to me that they wanted to go to the NFL. They all wanted to play for the Stampeders as that was the city they were growing up in. They related to the Stamps players & as a treat every once in awhile a Stampeder player would attend one of our practices & talk to my players. So, think again Kpt Krunch. Lots of kids in this country want to play in the CFL.

I will say this, in the heat of the moment yesterday things got a little carried away on my part here. We're all human & we make fools of ourselves at time. And I guess I did on this thread. My ego isn't too big to admit when I was wrong & yep I was wrong alright.
-
The bitching was getting stupid. Some here just love to gang up on others for no reason other than they disagree with what others say. Not saying you SPuDs as I like you but even you get carried away sometimes defending things like your failure to understand why fans are a little disgusted with Henoc Muamba & his CFL tour. The video of Liram making these trick shots started out for me as hey, the guy makes all these shots look easy but misses makeable FGs & converts in a game. Maybe practice what needs to be practiced & not spend hours doing trick shots. How is that wrong? Is it an untruth? People got indignant, why I'll never know as the same ones defending him telling me yesterday to lighten up are going to be the same ones calling for his head if he misses a FG or convert & we lose next game. That's the way this place works. Yeah, I absolutely admit I could have picked my battle more smartly & probably chose the wrong hill to die on to make a point but I don't regret doing it. If you had made it over that hill, instead of dying on it, you might have been able to see the sun shining on the other side. Point taken, thanks.

Henoc on his way to Hamilton & Toronto for visit
iso_55 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Although I couldn't put it so eloquently, I agree. This is nothing more than a sham/stalling technique for a return to the NFL. I don't believe they are seriously considering the CFL, unless there is some jaw-dropping numbers that I don't believe any team can provide anyways.Quite the little play for drama, but let's get serious, he doesn't have to visit all the cities...he's been there, and knows all the offers. He would be on a roster by now. They're wasting our time and we can tell them to call us, if and when they get serious. you cannot be serious. this os a crutial point in his career! he deserves to take all the time he wants, hes earned it. so what if he takes a week to check out his options.. he IS essentially the toast of FA players for the CFL.. im actually quite stunned anyone feels that hes abusing his position or dicking around.. sure stalling for a week to see if he can get another NFL shot seems odd to you but this is essentially his make or break time.. give him time to chose his destiny. Then Henoc should go home & let his agent do the work he's paying him to do by talking to the CFL teams, weigh the offers & then discuss what team is the best fit for Henoc. Just like every other player has done in the past. Not this sham. And sign with a team tomorrow. Not draaaaaaaaaaag it out for weeks. Week. Its been a week hasnt it? After Henoc was released by the Colts, his agents said they wanted offers by September 8. He had his try-out with the Giants the same day they wanted offers in by. It's been over a week and a half since he was released by the Colts and it looks like he won't be making a decision until sometime next week at the earliest since we have no idea whether his tour is close to over. Then add in the comments by Walters and others that Henoc's agent is looking for a 1 year deal. You don't see how that can be a little frustrating to both fans and teams. If it's 1 year then I hope we don't sign him. Move on. We don't need rental players. We need guys who want to be here & will commit to 2 or 3 years. -
