Flop because of injuries. I think if he'd stay healthy he'd be a total difference maker. Then again, with Brohm & Marve he may not have made that much of a difference.

Austin bumps Stala - pays $5,000 fine

How's this for sportsmanship. I was on facebook yesterday & a bunch of former Eskimos were posting about Deon Lacey & his actions the past 2 games the Esks played vs the Stamps during the coin toss. How Lacey refused to shake BLM's hand as well as trash talking him when they were on the field facing one another. The former Eskies (about 5 players) all said to a man that that **** like this goes on all the time, that it was about time an Eskimo did that to a Stampeder, who gives a damn about sportsmanship, football is all about intimidation & getting into your opponents head & we as fans are totally clueless not having any idea about what goes on during a game as 99% of us have never played pro football. So therefore, we have no business criticizing their world for what Lacey did. If that is how players view the coin toss maybe that explains what Austin did. The former Eskies are basically saying that they have a code we don't understand as fans. So, because we don't understand we should butt out of what went on as it's no big deal. It's part of the game. To me, as a fan.... I care about sportsmanship as I believe in the integrity of the game. I believe, what Lacey did was worse than Austin's actions. Austin let his emotions get the best of him & was caught up in the moment. What Lacey did TWICE what deliberate & planned out. To me, that made it worse. He attacked that integrity in my opinion. Players play and coaches coach. That is the issue here. Coaches should ALWAYS rise above.. You this is the truth. Coaches rise above? There have been plenty of dirtbag coaches over the years too. The players that think we are stupid idiots as fans become coaches. The code remains strong. -

Yeah, agreed on that. -
I think he has the stamina or he wouldn't be playing at this level. I just think he needs the rock more. I could be wrong.

This is a signing for next year. I don't agree we should just think he sucks because other qbs have in the past. Have to keep an open mind & for now just say welcome Tajh Boyd to the CFL & the Bombers.

From Arash Madani's tweets, it doesn't seem like the players are a big fan of his either. Why some coaches try to reinvent the wheel I've never figured out.

I know Wally from his time in Calgary. He really undervalues veterans & if he can sign a rookie for a lower price he'll do it. When it comes to negotiating new contracts he's The Ice Man. He cut Allen Pitts & Geroy Simon for gosh sakes... It wouldn't surprise me if Harris didn't sign again with the Lions. Wouldn't it be something if he returned home? -

It shouldn't happen but it does. To me, all Austin was doing was establishing the sidelines as HIS turf & to give Stala a message to get off the Ti Cats bench. Stala was yapping & carrying on like he always does. Now, if Austin took a swing at him I'd feel different. This was a push. Not even a big one. But really, in the end Austin was fined, apologized & case closed. Doesn't matter what I think. -
If there is a God would He have created Kim Davis? But I digress... Carlin was a brilliant comedian... I saw him at the Centennial Concert Hall many, many years ago.

Wally has sat back & done nothing in BC after gutting his team as GM. Meanwhile the Lions are slipping faster than a guy in street shoes trying to negotiate a slippery street after an ice storm. You know at some point that he's going to go down hard. I don't think it's on Lulay. I just think the Lions don't have a lot of talent anymore. Tedford just looks lost as a coach. Having a 34 year old Jason Beck backing up Lulay is akin to us having a 30 year old Brian Brohm as a backup qb. The question is why???

The Bombers stopped the run game short a bunch of times. Put a team in 2nd and long because you stop the run game and it makes it a lot harder to be productive on offence. Same reason the Bombers get away from the run. When it's being stuffed it's not really that great an idea to just keep trying to pound it. Bombers did to Sask what so many teams have done to the Bombers lately. Stop the run and say "ok your rookie qb has to beat us with his arm" Yes, we sure did & I agree with you 100% but I think the Riders have abandoned the run way too soon all season. They did the same thing in Ottawa a few weeks ago where Messam had just 4 carries the entire game. If I was Jacques Chapdelaine I'd have stuck with the run game. A power back like Messam wears down defenses & the guy absolutely loves the physical contact & the workload. He doesn't have the speed to take it outside but wow is he a powerful runner inside the tackles. Who knows, had he carried the football 20 or 25 times by the second half he might've started breaking some big runs. But hey, the Riders gave up & never tried so too bad, so sad. Doesn't break my heart.

How many carries did Messam have against us on Saturday? Was it 9 carries? The Riders have a beast at tailback playing well & a struggling rookie qb yet they throw 90% of the time. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad for their play selection as it played right into our defense's hands but you have to ask the question, "Why do the Riders continue to do what they do offensively refusing to run the football with Messam?" Maybe MB isn't the only OC with questionable play selections. Rider fans must be going nuts trying to figure things out. Messam should be carrying that football 20 times a game minimum to open up the passing game to take the pressure off Smith.

When a coaching staff sours on a player it's very difficult for that player to get back in their good graces. Politics as well as favouritism sometimes plays a huge part on who plays & who doesn't as well who gets chances & who doesn't. I think that's what happened to Matt Nicholls in Edmonton. He fell out of favour even though he was still winning games. I think Chris Jones felt that he wasn't doing a good enough job even while finding ways to win. You could see the pressure Nicholls was under before the trade with his body language. He didn't look like he was having fun playing for Jones & McAdoo in Edmonton. Contrast that to the game here last Saturday where he was smiling & having fun. And the way he applauded the IGF crowd at the end you could see he appreciated their support. He wasn't doing any of that in Edmonton. I think he needed a change & is happy to be here.

Personally, I don't give a flying rat's bum either way. Thank you. Great answer. It's getting to the point that I don't either. -
It only took absolute panic from Walters to finally do something. Lots of hype about Boyd so we'll see if he lives up to it.

Can't stand Stala, Yap, yap, yap, yap. Which is exactly what he was doing at the Ti Cat sideline. Yeah, Austin shouldn't have done what he did but whatever... He did it to Stala. If it was Dressler or Kohlert I'd be going WTH as they are guys that don't draw attention to themselves by being annoying mouthpieces. I don't condone what he did but I understand why. -

LOL! All of you, in your zeal to prove me wrong are beginning to sound so ridiculous. It isn't about proving me wrong anymore it's about you all being right. You're just making fools of yourselves in the process. As Floyd says, just stop you guys while you're still ahead. -

I'd just take competent quarterbacking the rest of the season as a fan.

Obviously your message board etiquette needs some brushing up. The burden of proof is on the person making the claim. You don't get to call things facts without being prepared to source that claim. The 5 people who liked that post and myself agree. BTW, Iso, at the press conference when O'Shea was hired, O'Shea and Walters both said they were "teammates" - not friends, not roommates. Bill Frank posted the link proving they were friends, looks like you owe iso_55 an apology no? Why? Iso did nothing to back his claim with links, just his "memory". Lucky for him Bill Frank put in the work and found a story citing the Walters/O'Shea friendship after their CIS days. Kudos to Bill Frank for actually doing the research. I don't want or need an apology. -
They do and are apparently going to be back next season. Believe the hold up was not wanting to wear white road jerseys The whites are great too. Could it be the colours remind the organization of how great this team used to be?
-
Can someone explain to me why the Bombers don't get that fans want these uniforms back?
-
Lots of holes on that team. Like I said, mostly because Wally wanted to save money & got rid of some veteran players as well as using Benevides as a scapegoat.
