Well, I could go back.... 41 years to 1974. The Bombers with qb Don Jonas had a clutch drive to score vs the Riders to go ahead very late in the 4th quarter. The next Rider possession the late Bomber safety Al Brenner (who was a real ball hawk) intercepted a Ron Lancaster pass to preserve the win. That was my first LDC game in Regina. I was 19. Just as an aside, Al Brenner disappeared suddenly in 1983 with no explanation. He left behind his wife & young family at the time. Two decades later he was found in the US living alone on social assistance having no explanation why he did what he did. He reconciled with his family although I don't think it went very well. He later died alone. I think concussion issues were to blame for his behaviour & actions. Very sad story though. Riders have won like 4 cups in their entire existence tho... but yeah, reading some posts, i would say quite a few people have given up for sure. Other than a very select few people on this site, I don't see a lot of people giving up on the team. Casual fans, sure, they come and go, but the Bombers have a solid corps of hardcore fans that have stuck by them, and continue to. What I see here is a lot of people expressing frustration and I fully get that. I'm bloody frustrated too. But this year, at least it looks like, for the most part, the Bombers are trying to fix whats broken in midstream. I appreciate that, and I know most of us here likely feel that way too. It's unbelievable that Walters, McManus, MOS & MB were so certain Brohm & Marve could play in the CFL they never signed one single qb this past off season. Dominique Davis was picked up only after he was cut at the end of the pre season by Calgary & the Bomber braintrust think he's not ready after being here for 2 months. Now, the same people that got us into this situation should be trusted getting us out?? Right now, it's full blown panic mode for these guys. I haven't given up on the Bombers. I've given up on the people running the team.

So, is this the move that will make Walters, O'Shea & Bellefeuille "solidifed" with the Bombers for years to come?

So, we sign a retread running back in Walker who is doing his cross Canada CFL tour by signing with multiple teams & 2 shitty qbs. And we really think we can sweep the Riders let alone win one game? I'd have liked to see Barker here. Dave Braley has handicapped Barker with budget cuts. I think he'll do very well with MLSE as the new team owners after this season.

That's on Jim Barker who has a thousand contacts in the US. I know the Argos have a scouting dept but Barker is the last word on who is brought in & who isn't.

Hiring a GM with absolutely no contacts in the US at the college or pro level was not a smart move. That means Walters has to rely on McManus for everything regarding US talent. He's unable to unearth any himself or talk to guys in coaching Stateside. Unlike John Murphy, Jim Popp & Jim Barker. I never understood the logic of hiring someone with no GM experience & no US contacts only knowledge of the CIS thinking he can turn things around. I'm hoping Wade Miller would right this wrong with a ready for prime time candidate like John Murphy but I doubt he does.
