It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...
iso_55 replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
At the time that pic was taken Bagg had injured the same knee that had reconstructive surgery twice & was obviously emotional. I'd have been okay if it was a pic of Bagg not crying at the time because he was injured when it was taken. The pic was a poor choice. I have no problem with Bagg, just that particular picture. -

You guys can blaze away at will on the Riders. I can take it and I fully intend to hand some out back to you guys. I get it that Bagg wears number 6 and obviously it would have to be a picture of him to make the joke work, but lets keep it classy, ok guys. You realize you are on a bomber forum right? I remember all of the jokes on the Rider forum when buck was injured. This is a Bomber forum? Gosh, John Madden, thanks for filling me in. Guess that makes it right. -

Hey, I have a lot of respect for #6 Robb Bagg to overcome what he did to get back on the field starting. Two severe knee injuries. Most people thought his career was over. That's one Rider player who never quit. -
Went to every game that season. No lightning strike.

Taman got them that cup? News to me. The big pieces were already there when he took over. It's just taken him longer to destroy that team because of it. Austin & Grandpa Miller built that team. Taman was like Muchacho in Edmonton, rode on the coat tails of Tom Higgins to a Grey Cup victory. The core of the Riders was already in place when he got there. -
Just think, had you gone & been discovered, you'd be calling yourself Dirk Nugget instead of KBF.

Nightmare scenario. Elizabeth May & the Greens hold the balance of power. Shoot me now.

In 1980, I had Jets season tickets in the east upper deck & stumbled. Fell down about 5 rows. I had to go to the hospital for treatment as I really gashed my right leg. So bloody steep. Never occurred to me to sue Winnipeg Enterprises. I should have.

ha, ha. Riders. They don't get younger. They just get older.
-
I figured after his performance that he'd be one of the winners. Congrats Drew Willy.

Lester Pearson was a huge MLB fan. I think his favourite team was the Boston Red Sox. This was before we had teams in Montreal & Toronto.

IIRC - wasn't that a preseason game? I wasn't there but I heard it on the radio. House almost drowned because when he was tackled his face mask got rammed into the mud and stuck there. He couldn't get it out and of course was in a puddle. We laugh now and he probably does too but I'll bet you anything Rick wasn't laughing those few seconds where he couldn't breathe (and you can bet he wanted to it's not like he was standing around doing nothing I'm sure his body was screaming for oxygen). I don't recall that 58 to 14 game - that was the year before I left Winnipeg and I was working a lot of weekends then so I most likely was working when that game was played. I remember the 58 to 2 game we had over the Alouettes (or was it the Concord then?) when they brought in Billy 'Whiteshoes" Johnson, VInce Ferragamo and James Scott from the NFL - Richard Crump and William Miller had 100 yards each in that game. Holy ****. The tall tales just get bigger as the years go by. What you describe never happened to House. I was at that game & it was a huge thunderstorm but no lightning hit the goalpost & no player almost drowned. This near drowning of Rick House you described would have been reported by the media that night & been all over the news across North America (even without social media). It would've gone down in Bomber lore as the 1950 GC incident with Buddy Tinsley did. This is the first time I ever heard of it. Ive heard this story as well.. Wish i could find a source for it but its not the first time ive read of it.. You can bet if it was true it would've been a lot bigger than just a story. It'd be LEGENDARY!!

Yeah, Buddy Tinsley jumped out of the stands & pulled Rick's head out of the water just in time.

When the information is released, I wonder if it'll shed light on what really happened. Imagine if the CIA was involved or if it was some kind of coup d'etat with the Russians involved.
-
I guess a lot of information having to do with the Warren Commission's investigation & others has been sealed & can't be opened until at least 75 years to a century years have passed to make sure all the people involved are dead. That in itself is conspiratorial. If a proper investigation was done then why the need to protect people to the grave?

That game was July of 1984 against the Lions. There was a waterfall coming out of the stands down the stairs & a new Lake Winnipeg formed on the sidelines. After the game resumes, one of the Bombers caught a pass & was pushed into the water & hydroplaned across on his stomach with his legs & arms out. That was frigging awesome.

The BOD will give Taman a Subway for life card, and call it even. After Jared, I don't know if a Subway For Life card is a good thing. -

Until this team makes it to the Grey Cup under Walters, he hasn't proven he is better than Joe Mack Trust me, he's better than Mack but that's it. -

Walters hasn't proven anything yet other than he's better than Joe Mack. But that's not saying much as the bar was pretty low. As far as Taman goes, the man is a total disaster as a GM. I agree that the way this team is built with underperforming aging veterans & the big contracts they have are killing the Riders. That's on him. -
That Inaugural walk in today's day & age is crazy. So dangerous. It's the 21st century, not 1886. They should rethink that.
-
No, i don't think so. I bet LBJ never would have done that especially after escalating the Viet Nam war.

Watching a documentary on the shooting & the events around it. Hard to believe, even in 1963 that an American President would be in an open car in public with no protection.
