I think this is missing the real point of why the Bombers don't hire experience.... it's a general managers and coaches grave yard. Experienced people don't want to come here because the track record in Winnipeg is a couple years and you're fired with your reputation in tatters. Justified or not that's what's happened for the last 15 years and it does impact whether guys want to come here and subject themselves to that. Walters and O'Shea might not be perfect but you have to give them a long enough period you can't just keep firing people all the time, that ensures you're not able to hire the best candidates. Yes, our record the past few years has been a problem so I acknowledge what you said Thing is, I know that Jim Barker applied for the GM job but the Bombers hired Mack & I believe that Tom Higgins was interested in the HC job as well at the end of the 2013 season after he left the CFL. I don't think it's been all inexperienced people applying for Bomber management & coaching positions.

Except they change something every offseason so we get half a season of adjustments every year. Why can't they just leave well enough alone rather than fixing problems that don't exist? Except they change something every offseason so we get half a season of adjustments every year. Why can't they just leave well enough alone rather than fixing problems that don't exist? I wonder if the CFL has a long-term plan in mind with all of these rule changes to elevate the excitement of the game for a younger crowd. If I can equate it to hockey during the Oilers reign it wasn't unusual for scoring to average over 10 goals per game. Most fans loved it even if purists didn't. Maybe the CFL brain-trust (oxymoron?) is attempting to create the same free-scoring environment were shootouts end up with scores in the vicinity of 52-48.....Doubt it. The CFL was doing scoring like that in the late 90's. People stopped watching (in Vancouver & all the teams down East) as the CFL was considered a joke league especially down east. I remember those times 20 years ago. There were 13,000 fans or less in most stadiums, Ottawa folded. The league nearly collapsed. Do we really want to go back to 58-55 games like they were back then? I don't as they aren't credible scores to football fans.

Steve Ferrughelli 1974. Played for the Als, he didn't last long but he was a monster to defend against, he would bash for 5 and and fall for 3. Similarity to Cornish is that he was an upright runner as well. You must remember Jim Evenson. He was the same way. What a great fullback he was. I used to love watching Bob Houmard play. Blood & guts football. Nothing fancy. Just hit the hole running north-south punishing tacklers. Steve Ferrughelli 1974. He was bigger than most of the D-linemen trying to tackle him! The only guy I ever thought that came close to Evenson as a fullback was Blake Marshall.

It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...

That's kind of odd considering the Riders sold around 25k season tickets that year that so many bomber fans were there isn't it? You guys can laugh at how bad we are all you want but even this year there are 26700 season tickets sold so the myth that any team will ever outnumber our fans in our stadium is simply that, That's kind of odd considering the Riders sold around 25k season tickets that year that so many bomber fans were there isn't it? I don't mind Miller. But Black is in a league of his own. Just horrible.

I was wondering if you were at the game as well.

If we can lose 9 in a row why can't we win 9 in a row?

Suggestions for us old timers... and thoughts on long term

Calgary had Buono & won 3 Grey Cups was fired & replaced by a rookie Matt Dunigan with zip for coaching experience & it was a disaster. Then Tom Higgins who won a CFL championship in Edmonton as a head coach replaced Matty. Higgins made the Stamps an instant contender. Then he was followed by Hufnagel who has won 2 Grey Cups as Stamps HC. You tell me the way to go??? But the Bombers never see it that way. -

I agree but its Reinbold and then Kelly that really were legacy killers. Inexperienced coaches (buddies) and gamble on a new QB talent... Difference is that we fixed Reinbold's mess by hiring Dave Ritchie, an experienced head coach... that worked. After Ritchie, its been a string of Asst Coaches who are given a year or two to succeed then replaced with another Asst Coach We need to give OShea a chance but it might mean waiting another two or three years. It is what it is. It surely is what it is. -

Lyle left along time ago. Kelly left a long time ago. Can't keep pointing fingers at those 2 saying they're the reason we are still losing.Plenty of horrid decisions have been made since to keep this team down. -
What's the point of rehashing this as it's all water under the bridge? Let's just support the guys we have in charge now & hope they can build a winner.

For a moment I thought you were talking about Darryl Rogers who was horrible but realized you meant Urban Bowman who was not too bad 11-7. I believe Urban still resides in Sandy Hook. That was a very experienced team. That made a world of difference for Bowman too.

Hate to pile on... but Pat Tracey coached both Walters and OShea... Then again, ISO seems to be agreeing with Friesen... http://www.winnipegsun.com/2013/11/13/bombers-need-to-be-bigger-and-bolder-than-hiring-kyle-walters-and-khari-jones Mind blown. I can't read any FP articles as I live in calgary & damned if I'm going to be a member of the Freep to read their articles. They want money, well sorry Free Press.

My son played for Jacques Chapdelaine at SFU last year & I like the guy. I feel bad for him as the offense isn't the reason the Riders are losing. Watching Cory Chamblin's defense screw up over & over is just so entertaining. Heh, heh, heh. Knowing how Chamblin rolls & his track record, somehow he'll throw Jacques under the bus & blame Chapdelaine but not himself.

I've been a Bomber fan since 1965 & I can tell you that even though I've seen a number of Grey Cup victories in my lifetime, going through this drought is no more easier for me or someone else who is a passionate fan yet never experienced the thrill of the Bombers winning a championship. I'm just as frustrated as everybody else & I suspect other older fans are as well. -
hey Al -- you weren't in Section Q by chance, were you? Sayyyyy...like Row 14? No Section A. I saw some Bomber fans there proudly wearing the colours like me with my Dieter Brock jersey. We should have made arrangements to have met. Too bad.

**** Pelladeau that godamned separatist. What a POS.

The Bombers always overlook experience so they don't have to pay because we're cheap. That's the way this team rolls & there doesn't seem to be the will to change the culture of how this team is run from the Board of Directors on down. I'm not saying Walters wasn't the right hire but I seem to remember Wade Miller at the Walters presser that he didn't have to conduct any interviews for the vacant GM position because he got to know & like Walters by working everyday beside him. If that was true, I don't like that as the hiring process should have been allowed to take its rightful course & potential candidates should have been interviewed. There's so much nepotism in the Bomber organization & it seems ingrained in the culture of how the team is run. As far as MOS goes, he was a supposed young bright light in the coaching ranks. The Next One as far as some experts said. I remember Bluto really being high on him here when he was hired. My concern was that he never was responsible for or called a defense as a coordinator & maybe he needed more experience to become a successful DC before he was hired as a head coach. He was a STC but was that enough to get the hire as our HC here? But hey, Walters & MOS are buddies & have been for years so why am I not surprised this happened? Thing is, both Walters & MOS are in place, the team is for the most part competitive so we might as well as a fanbase get & stay behind both of them, hope they do well & see how it all plays out for the rest of the season. Not ready to tie the can to this regime just yet.

If anyone thinks the Stamps legitimately beat the Bombers as opposed to the Bombers beating themselves are out to lunch. We gave that game away on STs & penalties. And we did what all other Bomber teams have done in the past few years, we couldn't close the game out. We had a chance to win but we blew it. I was at the game & it was frustrating to watch.

Tukwilla is pretty far south of Seattle on I-5. With the prolonged rush hours on that freeway it'll be different for people to get to the games. Seattle is virtual gridlock anywhere on the best of days.

Gawd, he's the worst broadcaster in the history of western civilization. He actually gets worse as the season goes along.

Ever thought ticket pricing may be the main issue here? That what we pay for in $$$$ to have our seats doesn't match what is displayed on the field?

Yeah how did that work out for NFL suck.... errrrr... fans in Toronto? Rogers & the Bills just gouged & took their money.
