No thanks. You want Christy Clark?Richard Brandson wanted to poke her...How about Stan Kubicek. I used to like Stan. So did the new car dealers in Steinbach. Remember the Park Pontiac Girl? You got it Park Pontiac.

It's KBF, not Dee. I don't mention it because you sure don't see it. Old people may bring a lot of cash but they sure don't spend it. Other than walking in and buying houses for $600K cash. I am lucky I bought my house 15 years ago, I don't know how people here buy houses with the piddly Okanagan salaries that are paid. And Vancouver prices for houses are even worse, though at least there they pay half decent salaries to professionals. Anyway that being said ISO, come on out - it would be great to have someone else other just Tacklewasher to watch Bomber games with. See ya in a decade.

I hear the Church Of The Riders is a cult.

LOL - I know you are an NDP supporter so that's why you are only mentioning Conservatives but no premier can hold a candle in terms of being downright the worst ever than Howard "the Coward" Pawley. His ultra-shitty NDP government in the 1980's - man they were some kind of suck. They are one of the main reasons I just can't stand the NDP, as I truly saw the hideous side of their tax and spend union first ideology in action with that government. They were just the worst. All governments are like diapers, they need to be changed or they start to smell. I wish here in BC we had someone else to vote for, but as bad as our provincial government is, no one wants the NDP back in power. You want Redford & Stelmach? You can gladly have them.

The players are like ants at the top of the 300 level at the Saddledome.

Hey Dee, I'll be moving out to BC in about a decade. I'll be the one who will pay down the debt here in Alberta & then sponge off you guys in retirement. Lookin' forward to it. Of course you don't mention the billions of dollars the retirees from other places bring with them when they move that they put into the BC economy.

Just an aside but yesterday I saw a You Tube video from 2003 where Rush played The Spirit Of Radio during a concert in front of thousands of people in Toronto. Right beside them they had a washer & dryer going literally feet away onstage. I went WTH? Okay back to Rider bashing....

I wonder how many folks setting up these churches share the same "to each their own" attitude as you? Call up a cowboy church and ask if they perform gay marriages? I have a pretty good idea what the answer will be... I think a lot of people here are completely not getting it. It's not a physical building or a special kind of religion. Cowboy Church service is just a type of service. It's generally non-denominational. It just has a Western vibe to it. It's horsemen and cattlemen and farmers and such going to a non-denominational church service. You mean like the kind of churches John Wayne would attend in movies like The Sons Of Katie Elder? I'd love to go to a church like that every Sunday. #shootemups

You have to live here to understand why a PST just won't fly. Every other province has one but us. #redbadgeofcourage I love the Mercer clip for exactly this reason. It really captures the feelings of Alberta. I think everyone in the province knows that a provincial sales tax and a progressive tax rate rather than a flat tax would be good... but it's Alberta damn it! It's different out here, we don't need to tax people. Sane people from other provinces... We're all from other provinces... cross that border from BC or Saskatchewan & they lose their minds. NO TAXES!!!

I thought franchises had learnt by now that building rinks that size was stupid. That raised my eyebrows too. The 40,000 seat Stadium also raised my eyebrows. How much do the Stamps draw? I guess Calgary likely draws bigger events also. 40,000 permanent seats might make it expandable to 50,000+ for grey Cup which would be cool. Calgary is a big city though so maybe their market can support a 21,000 seat arena without suffering from too much supply versus demand. If you think about it, with 8000 people on the Jets wait list, assuming each person bought two tickets, we could have sold 29,000 season tickets (I realise some would be mini packs etc but some would also buy more than two). Calgary fans are pretty bandwagon. If the Flames are doing well they'll sell out, if they're not tickets will be easy to get. Lot of corporate ticket holders too. Calgary is a lot like Toronto in more respects than people care to admit. As for the Stamps I am really not sure what the deal there is. I think it's sort of a big league vs. minor league crappy attitude. With the Flames there'll be a lot of cross marketing with tickets. Especially in corporate Calgary. With a new building they'd easily sell out initially. I could see 35.000 average maybe a bit more once the thrill of a new building wanes with football fans. Until the team tanks.

Hear! Hear!!

I've been told that the stadium is 40,000 permanent seats & may have a retractable roof while the arena will be 20-21,000 seats. The Flames also want to build a fieldhouse at the site for the benefit of amateur sports in the city. Like I said, I've been told that. I have no idea how accurate that is.
-
If the Flames finance this venture then hell yeah, throw in the land. I have no problem with it but we know there'll be people that do.
-
How on earth did you come up with a figure of "tens of millions"?!?! Start adding up the cost Jacquie. From what it was supposed to cost to now. Then add in the work that needs to be done to fix things right. How much will it cost just to gut the cement concourses & replace them alone?
-
But why? The stadium owners hired who they hired. My parents had insulation done at the house last summer. Turns out their work was shoddy and they now have problems. We don't need an inquest to tell us why. We know why. Unless there is some basis for assuming there was fraud or something untoward done by the government I don't see this as anything but what it is. If BBB recoups costs from the other parties And remedies the issues why should we spend even more money on what amounts to a political witch hunt. You said it. Maybe there was fraud involved. I just think that a screw up this massive has to be looked into
-
You guys have a left wing dictatorship. We have a right wing dictatorship. In the end neither assholes on the opposite end of the political spectrums can manage their province's economy.
-
Flames want the land donated. Cue the political rhetoric from the politicians. Nenshi already said he's against giving away land at the price they could get if they sell it. That's our friggin' Mayor. If the Flames come in & say they'll pay for the development & they want the land will this go up in smoke?
-
How many tens of millions is this going to cost? Having to redo all the concourses, insulation, mitigate the flow of water through concrete & growth of mould. How many years has this taken off the life of the stadium? This stadium is 100% funded by taxpayers. C'mon we know the Bombers can't pay off their debt. So I think it does.
-
I've heard that this will be a 1.2 BILLION dollar development.

LOL - I think you need to look in the mirror Mr. Dee. You seem to be a pretty big apologist for the NDP. That being said, I don't want to make any enemies with political talk here, as I did enough of that on OB, and it's easy to let your emotions get the best of you on this topic. I don't see how you can compare Alberta and Manitoba, extremely different situations and totally different economic factors governing each province. BC has some similarities to Manitoba in that we're stuck with an entrenched party that has won 4 elections and no matter how many dumb things they do, they keep winning too, because our NDP here is so weak and stupid that they couldn't win an election by acclamation. Normally I am ok with the NDP having no chance of winning as I think the NDP are awful and their ideologies are brain-dead, but in BC that has left us with an arrogant dictatorship. I don't know what you do with that, but it's not healthy for democracy. Just like in Alberta, I was hoping the Wild Rose would really shake up the Conservatives, and I think it did a bit, but not enough. Conservatives ripped apart the Wild Rose. Now, who's to say more WR MLA's won't follow. I've learned that two conservative parties aren't good.

Looking for change. Not very satisfied living in Saskatoon. The only thing I will miss in Saskatchewan is my house and going to Rider games. Other than that, it's pretty boring and ugly out here. My personality is better suited in the east where I can get out of the house and do more. Plus, CFL games are national, so I can still enjoy Rider games on TV . Thought you said you were 15. Fifteen year olds don't own homes. How is going to the East Coast even farther away from the CFL going to be better for you? It's your life so you can do whatever you want. Best of luck.
