Pall was just a bad selection by Huff. One of the few mistakes the guy has made in 6 drafts.

Blue Bombers To Hold Mini-Camp in Florida in April

That was at Rider camp... -
This is the problem with the CFL when it comes to fringe Canadian players. They hang around, hang around, hang around, bounce from one team to another collecting a paycheque they don't deserve on the PR. Then about 3 years into their ahem... cough... cough... "careers" the alarm goes off, someone in management wakes up & realizes these guys can't play & finally they're released. An International player with Pall's abilities would have been cut after their first training camp.

This and he can't hit the broad side of a barn with a pass.. LeFevour never impressed me that much. He's Ken Hobart 2.0. And Hobart stunk as a qb.

Look at the NHL in 78/79 when the NHL merged with the WHA & the quality of the play in the NHL for almost a decade after that. Most NHL goalies back then would be AHL goaltenders today. The goaltending is head & shoulders better than it was 30 years ago. So many 40, 50 & 60 goal scorers back then. Defense is much, much better. And now a 50 goal scorer is a special player. Like it was before the first round of expansion back in 67/68.

Season is too long. Should be over in May. They played a 68 game season back in the day & the SC playoffs were over before Victoria Day weekend. I like that. But that was in a 12 team NHL.

The academic eggs in Ontario & the Maritimes will make sure this doesn't happen. Or it'll be the middle of the century before it does. Too bad, great idea.

Oh yay. I guess the Bombers aren't a country club after all.

I think LAPO was a good coach with a horrible cast of players to play with.. Even with that, he managed to take the team to the greycup with a broken down Qb, a weak oline, and a good defence. The team cratered after lapo was removed, and Burke didn't do anything with the same cast of players... We finally looked like perhaps we are on an uptrend, AFTER changing the GM, The whole Coaching staff and a bunch of players including the QB. So.. I think Lapo is a good Coach and did well considering what and who he had to work with. Lapo only looked good in comparison to the absolute **** show that was Tim Burke. Lapo coached not to lose. He could have got some more wins out of that team if he showed some balls and took some risks. LaPo made some bad decisions using the clock or strategy wise. You had to wonder what he was thinking at times. Cost us some games. I think pretty evident he panicked on the sidelines at times.

Give Etienne a break? He wasn't worth a first round pick. Whether Jade was lazy in the weight room, didn't have the physical stature or didn't have the mental toughness needed when he was drafted, he was a lousy pick. We could have had a quality Canadian but instead Mack went "off the board" & chose a fourth rounder who was never ready for prime time. Like I said before picking him in the first round ultimately cost him his career as he was rushed into the lineup before he was ready instead of being allowed to develop on the PR because he was a first round pick.
-
Etienne wasn't a physical specimen. Matter of fact he didn't like to lift. He was a twig.

I thought we were out of the Curran sweepstakes. Everyone looks to be out of the Curran sweepstakes. Maybe Curran retired.

Then it was a bad pick.

Everybody seems to be an expert on everybody's else's kids but they're own. Or they've never had kids. It's a lot different when your own child or teen is being stupid or getting in trouble. Teens do make bad decisions. They aren't adults. Then again, a lot of adults make bad decisions as well. -
But...but...but according to the media, Etienne was Lapo's pick. Or least he was when he was contributing on the field otherwise he was a Mack pick. Mack made the pick. If LaPo was involved he's not as smart as he portrays himself on TSN. Whoever. Shitty pick. Total waste. No ****, Lapo was a failed head coach, you think it's the brilliant coaches who get to be on TSN? At least he knows he has a good gig on TSN. He can be plenty smart there.

Three games in we'll know, TBurg.

That Jade Etienne pick was terrible. And he was given every opportunity to make the team & play in 3 seasons. Some others weren't. The thing about Etienne was had Mack taken him where he should have in the fourth round he may still be playing today. There wouldn't have been as much scrutiny placed on him. Or the pressure of being a first rounder to produce quicker. He'd have been allowed to develop on the PR quietly instead of being thrown out on the field before he was physically & emotionally ready to compete. I think Mack screwed the kid's career over by wasting a valuable first round pick on him & thus setting him up to fail. That may have been the dumbest draft selection made in years. What a complete waste of a first round pick.

How could they not want him with the situation our linebacking corps is in? That makes no sense to me.

Better call Saul.

I think you have to ask yourself how many of the top 5 picks say, can actually start & make an impact at whatever position they play. I'd say the chances are they'll be depth working their way towards eventually starting for their teams down the road in seasons to come. We are in a position where we need starters as well as depth. Then there's the NFL as I bet most top picks will go that route first. It's difficult now to stockpile Canadians unlike a few years ago when only a select few had a chance to realistically go south.
-
Or go out & sign some LBers who are 1st & 2nd down players. Some speed & size would be nice.
-
The Bombers don't even have 1 guy I'd consider a stud Canadian starter and that is a problem. Yeah there's lots of bodies that you hope can start, but the quality really isn't there. We've got three legit and proven starters -- Kohlert, Greaves, maybe Bucknor. Kohlert's the best of the three, if I had to draft a Canadian off the Bombers for me expansion team he'd definitely be the one I'd take. I love the guy, but if he's the ceiling for Canadian talent on the Bombers there is still much work to be done.Every one of our other prospective starters is a huge question mark. Is Picard past his best-before date? Is Neufeld going to be durable enough? Is Goosen ready? Can the firm of Hurl, Newman, and Sherman hold down an LB spot? Do we have even a single legit DL starter? Makes you realize just how bad this team was only 2 years ago & how long it'll take to fix the mess we had. Things are getting better though.

True dat. I used to say that all the time when Mack was here but at times I felt like I was screaming into a hurricane force wind. It was like no one heard me.
