  1. It's a showcase weekend for the players & the NHL. Who cares if its for sponsors or not? That's not a horrible thing as companies throw millions at the NHL. Every league but the CFL has one.
  2. Word was Foley was not happy... According to Brendan Taman.
  3. The NFL one is kinda lame as it's before the Super Bowl and thus does not include players from that. I had to turn off the skills comp tonight but I might watch the thing tomorrow. Not in Hawaii anymore. It's in AZ which is nice but it's not the Aloha State. I also liked the NFL Pro Bowl a week after the Super Bowl so the players from those teams could play.

There may be a couple of players off the Riders who may do that.
  5. And in a year Chamblin fires Missick if next season doesn't go well. I'm sure the Stamps pay their coaches very well too. Some of them have been there a long time.
  6. Mitchell is now saying Saskatchewan.
  7. Remember watching that game very well. The Americans were outplaying the Soviets as I recall & Tikhonov made the goaltending change. Yeah, people were shocked. If that's why Tikhonov did what he did it only means keeping the Red Army players in the game would have been worse for him even had they won.
  8. Old news now. Hope they both go bankrupt.
  9. Change is as good as a rest they say. Being an assistant coach is a vagabond lifestyle.
  10. If it doesn't work out hopefully he'll come back.
  11. The rule is the dumbest in pro sports. If Seattle's defense is so good then let them try to stop Green Bay & truly walk off the field as champions. The coin toss won this game. Exactly. I can't think of another sporting circumstance where the opposing team, in a competition, isn't allowed to complete the game…that will ultimately decide the outcome for a championship, other than who won the coin toss…. That is house league. ******* Goodell. Too bad a car doesn't run the ahole over.
  12. That was me. I'm really smart... That was me. I'm really smart... You are!!

  15. If we can a make a trade that will help us for the playoffs, we'll make it. We won't give up futures for a rental that's for sure nor should we. There are going to be buyers & sellers going into the playoffs he says in his best John Madden voice.
  16. I enjoyed the broadcast tonight compared to the other one on CBC a couple of weeks ago that was so slanted towards the Leafs. HOW DARE WE BEAT THEM!!
  17. I disagree. On what do you base that opinion on? Were teams lining up to trade for him prior to 2013? One good half of football is going to change that perception?
  18. Doesn't the NHL owe us an All Star game or was it the NHL Draft as we were scheduled to host one of those in 1997 as I recall. Instead the Jets 1.0 moved to Phoenix?
  19. I have issues in all 3 defensive assistants we have since they agrees with Etch in (1) having no playbook and (2) playing players out of their natural position. That statement doesn't really make any sense. You don't know what their personal views on either of those issues were and in the case of a guy like Nelson Martin as an example, all of our defensive backs were experienced defensive backs. This whole "playing players out of their natural position" thing was so overblown while Etch was here. Truly. The only two players we had playing a position they weren't traditionally suited for or experienced at were Mike Cornell and Ian Wild. So one rotational guy and one full time starter. Our front 7 especially at lber was undersized. Etch never accounted for all the inside gaps. He didn't play a sound basic defense where every gap was accounted for defensively. It was predicated on stopping the pass & virtually ignoring the run. We were pushed back constantly. When teams started running on us we had no answer & wilted defensively. It was an unsound system doomed to failure. Every defensive coordinator I ever coached with had gap contain in their defensive playbook. It is sound, basic football 101. As far as the other assistants go? Etch was their immediate boss. They did what they were told to do as assistants. They did know going in what the philosophy on defense was going to be & agreed with it. Having said that, it doesn't mean that can't coach under Ritchie Hall & be successful.
  20. Ottawa had an import doing both kicking jobs who had the worst accuracy in the league (remember the outcry when we cut him?). Obviously the whole kicking debacle leading up to Ottawa's first game is yet another of the many examples of Desjardins being the worst GM in the league, but if someone talks enough sense into him, he may see the light in having lousy kicking numbers coming from a NI instead of an import. So there is one place that might be interested. Hair apparent to Jon Gott? Ol' Goat Face. YES! YES! YES! YES!!
  21. At one time I think he did actually want to be Commish while still owning the Ti Cats.
  22. Tom Anselmi (born c. 1956) is a Canadian sports executive who most recently served as the President and COO for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. Anselmi is an alumnus of Ryerson University and University of Saskatchewan. Not sure what qualifications an investment banker would have to be commissioner of the CFL. Connected at one time to MLSE. I see where this is going.
  23. I've watched both backs living here in Calgary & Cornish is a better back than Reynolds. He's faster, is a better receiver out of the backfield & the fact he's Canadian makes him a ratio changer. Reynolds in his prime would be on the PR behind Cornish. Reynolds lost it FAST!!! He was an all star one season & barely in the lineup the next.
  24. I'd hate to lose that game so they better come to an agreement.
  25. From now on, he may be referred to as "That Guy" or "WhatsHisName".
