A couple good WRs and I think they'd be close to a .500 team.Ottawa isn't as far off as some people think. It wasn't just dropped footballs that lost them close games. The redblacks have a lot of work to do just to get to the same wins the Bombers had last season.

Cutler is a coach killer. Even when he plays well he just gives off negative vibes all the time. All the tools to be a great one. But that's his problem, he has all the tools but he's also one himself. Always either pissed off or indifferent. Not a leader by any stretch of the word. How can you win with a player like that? He'll get the next HC in Chicago fired as well.

Richard Harris was loved by almost everyone who played for him. Colour was secondary.

Discussing races does not = racism. Don't agree. How can it not be? Gcn11 thinks hiring a black DC will attract more black players. To me that's racism. Some black players may gravitate towards a black defensive coordinator, sure. But it could also be said that there are some white players who would gravitate towards a white defensive coordinator. If you asked the Bomber defensive players who'd they want as their new DC I'm thinking that most would say anyone as long as he is a good coach that gives them a much better chance to win. I think skin colour would be way down on the list of qualifications. At least I hope it would. And for the record, whenever I think of Ritchie Hall, I never think of his skin colour. I always think of him as a darned good defensive coordinator in this league for years first & foremost. What made you even think of mentioning racism gcn11?

The racism card. Nice. We have no Affirmative Action in the CFL as it isn't needed. I don't know about your room but there's no elephant in mine. I could care less if our DC is white, black, latino, mulatto or the Little Green Man From Mars. As long as he is the best coach for the job as well as a great coordinator no one cares about skin colour.

I like Benevides. Typically he's had a physical DL & athletic linebackers with size who were fast. Look at Bighill & Elimimian who are mainstays on defense. Cam Wake before that on the DL. Although I'd be happy with Hall. I think Claybrooks is too inexperienced. Another year or two behind Stubler would do him good. We already have a lot of pieces in place. Bad coaching by Etch did us in.

We need to desperately upgrade our DL & lb positions from last year. Ian Wilde, great player but would be better suited to OLB.

so you're suggesting that the BC defensive playbook contains plays that have assignments for 10-11 guys and 1 or 2 "do whatever"? I highly doubt that. Nobody just freelances.

Hank should be coaching. He won't change the way he plays. Why should he? He's 40 years old. This is his last contract.

Benevides was there for a very long time... Good players and good coaches go hand in hand. I tend to agree. It's always strange to me when people suggest that a coach was only successful because he had good players. Well, players, no matter how good, need a system that supports them and provides strategies, guidance and refinement of the skills they are ready have. Without those things, no player, or group of players will ever be good on their own. We often call that sort of system "coaching". Well, we actually hired a DC who had no playbook & then let him do whatever he wanted such as never working on Inside Run. Meanwhile our HC, one of the best lbers to ever play in the CFL let it all happen right in front of his eyes. Then he actually went thru a lengthy process & tried to keep him as a coordinator when it was best for everyone he left. For gosh sakes MOS, quit hiring your friends so you don't have to feel such pain when they epicly fail & you have to fire them. Hire the best coaches available & keep it professional. No room for personal feelings when hard decisions have to be made so don't make it so by hiring friends.
