  1. Considering the varying level of talent & actual game readiness OL drafts from the CIS have I always thought trying to go with 4 or 5 Canadians on the line wasn't feasible. It takes luck & years of drafting to build an OL as we have painfully found out. Not only that but teams were so committed to an All Canadian OL that they overlooked talent at other positions when they did. In the years before All Canadian OLs, teams generally played 3 Intls as starters. If teams had a glut of Natl talent maybe they'd only play 2 Americans as starters. But never 4 or 5. Then in the 90's the Esks were able to build the first All Canadian OL in the CFL freeing up Intl talent elsewhere. Naturally other teams tried to do the same & for the most part were successful until the past few years when (I believe) the talent of American DL coming up here really improved drastically & the Canadian OL couldn't compete. I'm glad we're going the way we are. OL dominated all the picks in recent years & other deserving players were kept down at lower draft positions. Now more skilled positions will get their due in the first round as well. This is a good thing.
  2. Nicholls may have but he still played better for the most part than Willy did behind that same OL. He also played some stinkers too.
  3. People hate Glenn here. Nothing's changed. If he was signed or traded to Winnipeg there'd be a ton of unhappy fans. You know that. Yeah, I think Willy's time here is coming to an end. His contract is too big for what he's given us. It needs to be renegotiated in order for it to make financial sense to remain a Blue Bomber. We'll see what happens.
  4. Well, like I said in the response to jbr, he was able to overcome his fears. It's not like he waited 2 years to get back on the field. He played the next season about 7 months after he broke his leg in Edmonton's first game the next season & got seriously hurt again. Now perhaps what happens to Willy will be the same as happened to Nicholls. His career was virtually over in Edmonton buried on the qb depth chart & had to come here to revive it. Maybe that's what has to happen to Willy. Go elsewhere to revive his career.
  5. Attacked Willy? No, you're being ridiculous. And you seem to be minimizing Nicholls injuries. The injuries weren't that long ago but Nicholls still had to get on the field as soon as he could & perform or he wouldn't be playing pro football anymore. The guy is still standing & has indeed overcome his injuries & fears. He's helped turned this team's fortunes around so you can think what you like.
  6. I guess you don't remember Nicholls gruesome broken leg in Montreal in the semi finals a few years ago. His foot was pointing in the wrong direction & I bet he too had to re-learn to walk as well. Then the esks first exhibition game the next season he tore his ACL & was gone the entire season. You're actually trying to debate as a non medical professional which injuries were worse, Nicholls or Willy? Both guys suffered devastating injuries. Both had to overcome & both came back but Nicholls seems to have been able to handle all the fears of getting injured again better than Willy.
  7. Such is the life of a pro football qb. Maybe it's not fair but he has to still play no matter who is or isn't blocking for him. Nicholls won 2 games playing behind that same line last year & looked much better in his decision making even then than Willy did before he was injured. He gets rid of the ball faster & makes better decisions. As far as the shell shock defense fans here are using for Willy to explain his poor play as a qb, if anyone should be shell shocked it's Nicholls with the gruesome leg injuries he's suffered. Nicholls has been able to come back & get over that "fear of further injury" hump better than Willy. He was able to do it immediately. Willy couldn't seem to do the same.
  8. Pederson= Idiot. Nuff said.
  9. Blown coverage is part of the game. If Nicholls gets the ball to any of his receivers like Denmark then that's their job to throw & catch. They get paid to do that.
  10. CJOB let Toth go last winter
  11. i think it'll get very uncomfortable in the Ottawa dressing room.
  12. saw Huey Lewis & the News when he was the main act at the Arena in 1987.
  13. Ditto. I'm guilty as well.
  14. No, he's always had a good OL in front of him. He's taken some big hits & injuries like a broken collarbone & torn hamstring but never the kind of leg injury Willy suffered.
  15. Ha, ha. Always the comedian.
  16. No, my son is a former qb with SFU in Burnaby.
  17. It's an opinion. That's all. A feeling Willy will never get it back. He's been pummelled & severely injured. No one can go through that without being affected. We all saw how he played when he had time to throw this season. He was releasing the football early rushing his throws. Throwing off his back foot. He didn't TRUST his eyes & what he was seeing. It's going to be extremely hard for Drew to get his confidence back.
  18. Not convinced. Not the way his decision making was happening. He was playing pooly when he was benched. I can't see that changing if he's stressed on the field when he takes the snap.
  19. Saw them live at the Saddledome in 1997.
  20. Dude, as I said 2 messages above he's the starting running back for the Westshore Rebels. He's the leading rusher in the BCFC. Here are his stats before Saturday's game... Click on rushing. http://www.cjfl.org/stats/division_instance/188582?subseason=300046&tab=division_instance_player_stats&tool=1898346http://www.cjfl.org/stats/division_instance/188582?subseason=300046&tab=division_instance_player_stats&tool=1898346
  21. Well, why broadcast the event if it's sub par? I think what the band did was unbelievable but the sound was terrible. Do you think if the sound was like that in the arena, the fans who paid big bucks for tickets wouldn't have complained? I get the love for the band & they went out & rocked but it doesn't mean that people on tv shouldn't see a great concert.
  22. Jamel Lyles is playing for the Westshore Rebels in Victoria. My son is the qb coach for that team. (Gotta get a plug in for that). Lyles is the best running back in the BCFC.
  23. I listened to a bit of the concert as well & I thought CBC did a lousy job on the sound production for tv. The instruments drowned out Downie's vocals. Yeah, he was off on his pitch but considering his health I think he really worked hard last night. The CBC spoiled the concert for me.
  24. So, what team is worse? The 2013 Blue Bombers or the 2016 Roughriders? The Riders at least have a qb. Remember ours? Max Hall & Boltus?
  25. I can't see Burris being willing to come here to back up Nicholls.
