He was a qb/db in college. I read that he honestly thought that when he played for the Bombers he was the best qb on the roster. He might have been but Ken Ploen was the Guy in Winnipeg & nothing was going to change that. It was alleged that he paid people in the stands at Winnipeg Stadium to hold up signs with "We want Thornton. We want Thornton" when it came time in games to switch qbs. That being said, he was a popular guy in the Blue Bomber locker room & his teammates knew & accepted him as a real offbeat character.

Sad news that former Blue Bomber & Argos defensive back D i c k Thornton passed away yesterday at the age of 75 from lung cancer. He played on the Bud Grant teams that won Grey Cups in 1961 & 62. Also played in the 65 Grey Cup for the Bombers as well as the 1971 Grey Cup with the Argos. He was a stud in the defensive backfield & a real character in his day. I wouldnt say that at all. Part of being a professional wrestler is marketing. Many of them are very good public speakers and understand the important of a good interview. CM Punk knows how to market himself but I thought the only thing worse than his behaviour was Landsberg's. It might annoy Punk to do interviews, but then he should decline to do them. He was certainly not in the mood to banter or give answers beyond one or two word replies. He was clearly annoyed with discussing wrestling, though if he knew Landsberg at all, he'd know hes a big mark so it was to be expected. On the other hand Landsberg was delivering his questions to get a pre-desired response and Punk was having none of it. It was clear he was hoping for dirt on WWE. The gag video they played was absolutely insulting to Punk and you could tell he was ready to leave right there. And Landsberg had the "you used to be a wrestler so you cant take yourself too seriously" line in his pocket ready to use because he knew they were pushing Punk's buttons with the stupid video. But ultimately, Landsberg looked like an unprofessional jackass That's Landsberg's schtick...

Heard an interview with Wally today, says Tedford will have fee reign on his coaching staff. Wally will give him his opinion, but Jeff has the final say. With that in mind, I can't see Khari surviving the potential purge. I would normally be excited for this prospect, but there doesn't seem to be a place in our staff for him at the moment with our OC and QB coach already in place. Unless Dahlquist "retires". Wally should just STHU & let the guys he hires as HC do their jobs. What a pain in the ass he must be to work for.
