  1. One of the reasons he played for so many teams is because the guys backing him up were often thought to be better. He lost his job to Michael Bishop. Twice. He was smart and mobile. As a passer he left a lot to be desired. 23 seasons in the CFL - he passed for over 4,000 yards 4 times and 5,000 once. He passed for less than 3,000 yards 8 times. He was a decent combination of a game manager and a running QB. He did these things well enough to carve out a 23 year career, so no, that's far from average. It's pretty remarkable. As a passer, being average for 23 years will eventually get you to 70,000 yards. I respect him and his accomplishments, but when listing the top QBs in CFL history his name will never come to mind, and I don't think that's an oversight. Sorry, maybe not to you but to just about everyone else.
  2. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but all that link says is that Marve was playing with a torn ACL at the time. Nothing about it healing afterward or him having surgery afterward to fix it or being removed etc.I'd like some clarification on this, because I have a real hard time believing that he's playing without an ACL in his left knee. I'm no medical doctor but the headline says he has no ACL. If you read the article it says he tore it for the 3rd time and it was never repaired. Hence no ACL.The article was written in 2012. I know. Your point? Maybe in the past 2 years he magically grew one.
  3. Close only counts in horseshoes.
  4. Is that a compliment or insult?
  5. If the Jets tank they tank. If they play hard & lose then so be it. But if they play like quitters. I think Cheveldayoff standing pat this past off season was the wrong decision.
  6. Nic Grigsby = Who Cares?
  7. Having a "veteran" qb sure didn't help the Riders, did it? Ha,ha... Love it.
  8. The Stamps have been plugging & playing since 2005 under Tom Higgins & Jim Barker. Those 2 guys laid the foundation for the success of the Stampeders today. Check Barker's draft record for Calgary since 2006 to 2010 when he left for the Argos. Like I said it's been 10 seasons of doing things right.
  9. Give us a break with you one line stupid statements! Calgary has been building a winner a lot longer than we have! Agreed. You just don't build a team like the Stamps overnight. It comes down to having a great HC in Huff, extremely good coordinators & position coaches, drafting well & signing International & national free agents which is what the Stamps have done under Huff & even before that under Jim Barker. This Stampeders team is a decade in the making. And it continues.
  10. Campbell is in way over his head. I think MOS is as well here. Both guys have to do great jobs with the players they have in order to win & it's not easy. I think MOS has the harder job of the 2. The fan base in Winnipeg is more jaded, there is much more skepticism, apathy has taken hold, the media more surly & non believing. And the culture of losing with the Bombers is something that needs to be purged. It's going to take more time to turn it around & hopefully MOS at least will find success. Campbell? Seems like a nice guy but I personally don't care if he fails or not. All I know is he convinced 3 Stamps assistant coaches to go to Ottawa with them & what a mistake that was for them. Hope they like losing as they gave up a great gig in Calgary to go to Ottawa.
  11. It's called talent & it starts for them on the OL. They control the LOS & win game after game because of it.
  12. Of course everyone is guessing how they might do but I don't think peeps are too far off on guesstimations on draft picks. Lemieux/Crosby were anointed the next ones and that was true. Last year was considered a very strong draft and this year a weak one. So far that's seems to be holding true for both. Their top 3 forwards are still worth a first round pick at least by me. But the team sucks & has for years. These 3 players should be carrying that team but can't. They have issues on the blue line & in net. Don't have any depth after those 3 players despite having anywhere from the first to 4th pick year after year. The Oilers tank just because they're bad & it hasn't helped them one bit.
  13. Difference between Collaros & Marve for me is that Zack has 2 good knees. Marve has had multiple ACL surgeries & because of that may not have a very long playing career.
  14. Yeah, I saw at least one play where he made a mistake but the kid has to play in order to learn.
  15. Too bad he wasn't gone last night.
  16. Be in the playoffs with Cotton had they played him as opposed to Grigsby? I highly doubt that. You don't lose 7 in a row just because your running back can't break tackles. #otherissues
  17. No reason for Brohm to sign anywhere else. Not enough body of work. Just basically a little more half of football this season as a starter. If the Bombers want him back then I'm sure he'll sign here again.
  18. Thanks for the records, pigseye. Answers the question.
  19. You want a running back to be "hunched over". That way be can absorb the hit, have less surface for the tacklers to grab, use his shoulder pads to fight thru tacklers, keep his legs turning & even dole out some punishment of his own.
  20. He wasn't available. He was protected. Teams could only protect one QB and there's no way the Stamps protected Tate over Mitchell. And if they had there's no way the RedBlacks would have taken Glenn over Mitchell. Mitchell was protected not Tate. The redblacks picked Glenn.
  21. Who said he's done for the season? Have they given an update on his injury? Looks like a broken thumb so yes, he's finished.
  22. Anyway SPuDs, I'm thru talking to you... I know the mods probably don't like our bickering so I'm done.
  23. You are clearly delusional as I've rarely if ever "gone after" anyone this season.. I've been optimistic and continued to look for the positives in the sea of negatives. Not my fault you chose to dwell on all the downer side of things day in and day out.. It must be miserable, being a fan like you are.. Constantly hating everything you see and hear.. Dragging on your conscious and all that.. Couldn't and wouldn't want to support any of my teams that way.. Well, how funny is this?? Here's SPuDs who absolutely hates anyone here who criticizes the team & can be very insulting & condescending to people he doesn't agree with complaining when he's called out??? LOL! Look in the mirror pal before you start complaining.
  24. Marve & Brohm played well. It was nice to see.
