Just today, a football analyst was talking about how much trouble he expected the Falcons would have with the "talented" Tampa Bay Bucs. Now 0-3 & a pasting later & that's talented? I'd hate to see his definition of decrepid.

It all has to do with talent. A coach's IQ goes up when he has good players & down when he doesn't. Look at the OL coach in Calgary that coached here the past few seasons. He has great players right down that line there & Cornish to boot. Yet here he was mediocre. He didn't simply become a very good OL coach overnight. He's working with more talented players in calgary than he ever did with the Bombers.

There's resentment like that everywhere. In Alberta, with nearly 4.5 million people, we have 3.5 million living in cities like Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Ft McMurray & Grande Prairie. Rural folk hate the city folk.

My brother in law worked as a civil engineer for years at PCL or Poole Construction as it was called then. He was a young engineer out of university for just a couple of years & his first big project was the Richardson Building. I remember him telling me the biggest problem they faced with constructing that building was an underground stream about 25 feet down that had to be diverted. He left PCL in 1975.

Migs, you have every right to be excited about that new stadium going up as it is going to be something special. Just like IGF is to us. The 3 nicest stadiums in Canada are Winnipeg's , BC Place & Regina in about 3 years... Not Mosaic. I'd like to throw Ottawa's into the mix but it's so small & has two completely different grandstands which is kind of weird. Hamilton? Well, it's new which is nice but that's all it really has going for it.

Why do rural folks get all worked up about whether the Blue Bombers or Jets have the name Winnipeg in front of it? You don't hear that in Alberta where we have the Edmonton Oilers, Edmonton Eskimos, Calgary Flames & Calgary Stampeders. The BC Lions play in front of a half empty stadium every game. Where's the influx of rural football fans there? It's the Lions of BC. It's supposed to be their team, too. You're either a fan or you're not.

That has to be, without a doubt, the dumbest thing a media person in Winnipeg has said in the past half century. Well done, Paul Wiecek.

Brohm heading home? After the injury to Willy & the way he played? That tells me all I need to know. To be a starting qb in the CFL takes sacrifce. And if a player isn't willing to do that, well?? I know it's tough to be away from family but the season ends in less than 2 months & Brohm has 6 months to be with them then. I think that is the wrong decision. Don't forget the players made plans three weeks back for this bye week and most likely paid for tickets etc. I doubt it's last night that he decided to go home. Good comment made by Doug Brown after the game. He said that if Dave Rictchie was the coach of this team, bye-week would be officially cancelled with Willy's injury. The team has two weeks to prepare for their next game and they will need every practice opportunity possible to get Brohm up to speed asap. Blowing off a week of preparation time on player's vacations is a missed opportunity for Brohm and the offence to get on the same page. Two on-field practices in the week before Hamilton is just not enough to get Brohm in sync. I agree whole heartedly with DB's analysis. I think that would violate the collective agreement so cancelling the bye week for the entire team would be a non starter. I think anyone who stays would have to be voluntary. Now, having said that if I was Brian Brohm & I knew I'd be starting the next game in 2 weeks, I'd want to stay in Winnipeg to prepare & not go away during the bye week. If Brohm paid for plane fare home, he should get the club to reimburse him for the airline ticket. Same with Marve. These guys are professional football players & if they crap out on the field because of a lack of preparation then they're finished as players with Winnipeg. In Brohm's case maybe forever. They should have stayed in Winnipeg voluntarily & hit the books so to speak. Study video to get prepared. Get in the weight room. Spend time with their qb coach. Throw to any receivers who stayed around town...

What do you mean? QBs who started the season? If so it's 5. That have played all games. I should have clarified. Every other qb who started game 1 & continued to start has missed time. Don't you think we should wait until we have more information about Willy's injury before removing him from that club. Well, I'm assuming Willy's a no go from everything I've heard as in collarbone injury. Glenn never got hurt either as he was replaced. Rough year for qbs. Unbelievable.

I'm not so sure about that. 3 points in the 1st half with Willy at the helm for most of it. Last night I saw a defence that just ran out of gas but played pretty well until the 4th but again the offence didn't help them out. Willy makes the difference. We have issues in other areas that hurt this team as well.
