Losing badly has a way of doing that.

Foresight can also be 20/20. Building up a team for the future isn't easy to do if you trade away picks and don't give your young QB's chances to compete and learn. Glenn is Glenn. He'll have some good games and some bad ones. They will average out...to average. It would have been a great decision to have him on our bench if we didn't have to give up anything higher than a 4th rounder to do it, not because Glenn is broken down, but because we need to build up our NI talent in the worst way possible. Can't get something for nothing most days, even Brohm cost something. As it turns out, he might be good enough to fill in and pull out wins. The Bombers will find out how much they could have used Glenn when and if Willy goes down for multiple games. If Brohm or Marve can step in and win games than obviously there was no need for his services. One thing is for certain to become a top level team consistently in the CFL the backup QB has to be capable of providing 3-4 wins per season when called upon. Only BC, Cgy and maybe EE with Nichols are currently secure in the QB position. Funny but the RR may have the greatest drop off in the QB position in all the league, sure hope nothing happens to Durant! Rider fans couldn't wait to get Willy out of town as they were creaming their jeans for Tito Sunseri as The Next One. Careful what you wish for Priders.

There's better roasted chicken at Safeway or Superstore.

Haha - glad I'm not the only one. In fact I think my attitude on here (ourbombers) when Swaggerville was in full swing was what, for some reason, caused a lot of members there (now here) to for some reason hate me for MY opinion on the matter. I hated Swaggerville - couldn't stand it. The team was acting like a bunch of jerks and after that 7 - 1 start boy did it ever bite them in the ass big time. I like this team much better. I don't mind celebrations when you make a big play, but be humble about it - which for the most part they are (as humble as the next team anyway). It's nice to be a 'proud' bomber fan again. Folks didn't understand how embarrassing that Swaggerville crap was outside of Wpg. Once the wheels fell off though, I think some got it. One of the biggest differences I've noticed, is all the "me me me" guys are gone. And yeah swaggervillve was at best cringeworthy. I hope we never bring back Swaggerville. As a fanbase, we're better than that. That's so Riderville.

Remember the Paredes block last year that wasn't an attempt because it never crossed the LOS so it never counted? Wow...

How would you rate the Young Guns this season (Players with one year or less of playing experience who are starting)? 1. Willy: Improving every game. Showed resilience after the loss to Edmonton. Strong arm, quick release with great pocket presence. His players have confidence in him. Lead Bombers to 4-1 record. Takes care of football. Not a risk taker. Although the late interception in BC wasn't the smartest thing to do. Chalk that up to a rookie mistake which he'll likely do ever again. Likes to test opposition secondaries with his arm & the deep ball. Very good accuracy on his throws. 2. Reilly: No one can say he isn't tough as shown he can absorb hits. Strong arm. Shown he can run which is a new threat. Isn't the greatest decision maker at times but like Willy has his team at 4-1 Likes to throw deep with Stamps & Bowman his targets. 3. BLM: Has all the tools & may just be the most confident of all the Young Guns. Plays in a great system, doesn't try to do it all himself. Having some problems the past couple of game few finding a rhythm offensively which has led to a lot of 2 & outs & his third place ranking by me probably due to injuries on the OL, running back & receiver positions. He is missing a number of key starters & weapons like Mo Price & Jon Cornish. With Huff & Dickenson there, to coach him up, he'll get better. Like Willy & Reilly, BLM will go deep whenever he can. 4. LeFevour: Pretty much a mystery man with just two starts under his belt but the success he had against Ottawa vaults him past Troy Smith in Montreal who is having a horrendous season. Is a threat with his legs but we don't know much about his arm. It looked strong this week vs Ottawa this past Saturday throwing but earlier this season in Calgary, his arm looked noodle strength when he underthrew an open receiver from 25 yards away for a sure touchdown. He's athletic, can scramble away from the rush & get downfield. 5. Troy Smith What more can be said? He has huge accuracy issues with his throws. Missing open receivers all over the field. Surprised he is still around at his age but I guess athleticism will take you a long way. If there was anyone on the Als roster to challenge Smith, he'd be playing by now. Supposed to have the strongest arm of all starters in the CFL.Thing is, what 's the good if he can't get the ball to his receivers? Tells you what the Als coaches think of Alex Brink. 6. Zack Collaros: Not the season he expected. Was humbled in Saskatchewan in the rain with 10 sacks & then got destroyed in Edmonton. Has flaws in his mechanics with a sidearm release & the Tim Tebow windup which affects accuracy & slows his release down. Which makes him a target for interceptions & qb sacks. From what little I saw of him, I'm glad we signed Drew Willy & not him.

Fantuz. LeFevour will go to him a lot. -
And a CFL example would be Dave Dickenson who started as the Stamps RB coach. Yeah but look who Dave had as players at the time... Reynolds on the downslide & Cornish on the upswing.

I think you would remember an all Western Division or all Eastern Division Grey Cup. Some days I can't remember where I put my socks. But I'll bet you get to meet new people every day and hide your own Easter eggs. Easter eggs? Oh crap...

Are the Bombers going to change the way the league thinks?

I don't know. Edem lost his starting job in Montreal. Would this defence be better with Edem at safety than with Bucknor at corner? I'd lean towards no. No question Edem could have helped us last year, but who knows, in a year or two we might be thanking Mack for drafting Mulumba if he ends up here. Edem was the starter last season & got injured this year from what I understand. -
I didn't say that, exactly. Well, maybe I did, I don't know. I just meant that as a qb, he wouldn't have any great pearls of wisdom to offer on the sidelines that wouldn't be discussed in video sessions later. The thing with running back is you have to be able to run. That's a given & you can't coach toughness & athleticism. At that level, guys have it or they don't. What I think happens is that Bellefeuille & Buck are up in the booth & would relay advice & instructions down to the bench from what they saw to the backs... Like a missed block. Maybe giving the play away by leaning too far to the left or right, etc. I coached positions I never played & it's not the easiest thing to do sometimes as you are out of your element as a coach at times & rely on the advice of others to help. I coached offensive line in bantam back in 03 & man, when I was asked to do it I nearly crapped my pants as I was never an OL. But things turned out alright as we were city champs that year. But I had to do a lot of studying away from the practice field to learn how to coach my guys. And watch a lot of coaching videos to learn fundamentals & blocking schemes. Certainly as the season goes on, Buck will garner more knowledge & get better. I can say, a more natural position for a qb to coach other than qbs is receiver as it relies on reading coverages & route running something a qb knows a great deal about. But with Buck doing running backs, it'll help him to become a more well rounded coach & an offensive coordinator someday.

Geno Smith plays for the Jets. That's what I said... LOL! Dave Meggett played for the New York football club with blue helmets. I got confused by the part where you said they had a black QB. More along the way the Redskins were described as the "Washington football team".... instead of using their name. Trying to be witty. Guess it didn't work, eh?

He doesn't need to be on the sidelines to talk to Grigsby right away. Just put him on the headset. He doesn't need to be on the sidelines to talk to Grigsby right away. Just put him on the headset. What's Buck going to tell him? Not a slight on Buck but he was a qb & wasn't a running back. Even though he's his position coach I don't think Pierce can give Grigsby any pearls of wisdom that anyone else can't. I think they're grooming Buck to be the qb coach in a year or two so he's up in the booth watching & listening to Bellefeuille.

Are the Bombers going to change the way the league thinks?

I think it just shows how well Walters knows the CFL & the CIS & how, from what I understand, his knowledge was never properly utilized by Joe Mack. We all know the Mike Edem story. Imagine how much better this defense would have been with him playing safety for us. Well, Walters is in charge now & I expect our Canadian strength to be vastly improved in the next 2-3 years because of it. We're just beginning to see the start of it. -
What about the last 2 games of the season?

Looks less & less likely that there'll be three teams in the playoffs from the East this season... I'll say the Argos just as they have Ricky Ray then who knows who the 2nd team will be.
-
Danny does know a thing or 2 about qbs. On that Odell Willis hit on Zack Collaros anyone notice the huge Tim Tebow windup he has? Compare it to the tight, quick release of Drew Willy. Once he has the football in the ready position, top shelf. then zip... no windup because it's gone.
-
Never? Interesting...
-
If we have a good season on the field in 2014 then it should set up a very good off season for free agent signings as players may actually want to come here instead of elsewhere. The team should be even better next season. The culture is changing...

Which Coach gets an early paid Vacation?
iso_55 replied to Bomber_fanaddict's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If you look at single game ticket prices across the CFL, the prices are over inflated to the point where walk up crowds barely exist anymore. They may be similar across the league but they are too high, IMO. People are voting with their wallets to stay home & watch the games on TSNHD for free. -

Talking Gino Smith of the other New York football club.

Yes, that's his father http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/texans/story/2012-04-28/Meggett-follows-NFL-path-of-imprisoned-father/54611792/1 You mean, the player who played for the New York Football Club that has blue helmets, isn't green & white & has an African American as their starting qb?

Sorry to say but this season has been awful. And the stands are half empty in Edmonton (except vs the Stamps), Calgary, BC & especially Toronto. Reminds me of the early 90's which is scary.
