Gavins fined for dirty hit on Drew Willy
iso_55 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's not all about Schultz. But the coaching stuff, yeah it's okay but really most fans don't care. LaPo will explain it & 5 mins later it's in one ear & out the next. -

That's a pretty broad (and ignorant) statement. C'mon Mike, really. No CFL post game show. Just right to Sports Centre because that's what every football & non football fan wants? Too much salt on your cornflakes this morning, perhaps? -

If people tune into TSN just to watch Sports Center then they have absolutely no life. -
Announced that he took a knee to the helmet at practice yesterday & he has a concussion. Lewis will miss Saturday's game in Toronto... at least. Cornish out with a concussion & Mo Price with a broken hand. The Stampeders have played ONE game. One.

I don't think LaPo's boring but I enjoy the panel discussions more & it takes away from them. he'd be better served to be on the panel. Especially as TSN has no post game afterwards which really bothers me. Who cares about 30 minutes of Sports Center? -

Speaking of Lapo on television, I wish they'd just put him on the panel & discuss the topics at hand instead of having a coaches insight.. I think his 3 or 4 minute time slot takes away from the discussion that I enjoy at halftime. -

Burke made LaPo look like Norman Einstein. Paul sure sounds great on television, doesn't he? -
How To Get 24,000 People in & Out Of TD Bank Stadium

parking definitely sucks at commonwealth. There's an LRT station near the stadium, there are quite a few park and rides and 30-40 bars/restuarants that do shuttle service, although probably close to half of that is all the boston pizza locations here (there are BP's everywhere here). Big reason I don't go to many games is the lack of parking, with what the travel time would be I go for the more comfortable seating at home, cheaper drinks and settle for 58" screen and surround sound. The area around Commonwealth sure looks like North Winnipeg. -

To be fair though, putting the west leg where they did probably services a lot more people. Trying to get it down to Mount Royal would have been pretty silly since the city ends at the reserve just past there. Wonder if they'll ever get a leg down there? The airport needs a line, though. -
Is that buffet place in Transcona at or near Regent Avenue still around?

Claude was a hard working head coach maybe just not NHL material. He was a good soldier & I think everyone hopes he is a success wherever he goes from here.

How To Get 24,000 People in & Out Of TD Bank Stadium

The other crazy thing about the C Train system here is there's no line to the airport with no plans to add that line for a couple of decades. What other major city that prides itself about being world class & yet we only have buses running to the airport but no train? The new West Leg of the C Train also didn't include Mount Royal University. I understand that when negotiations started for the new route almost a decade ago, then Mayor Dave Bronconnier's riding would have lost out if the line dipped southwest from downtown & he made sure that would never happen.Thousands more Calgarians would have benefitted had that line run to Mount Royal University but just an example of politics at it's worst. -

The problem with transit in Calgary is that it is great for getting people to and from downtown, but as soon as you have to go anywhere else it is a giant pain in the ass and winds up taking forever. Yes, that is the big problem. -

Weren't the Lions 0-5 a few years back & then went on a roll & won the Grey Cup? -
Good for them!

Winnipeg could have had light rail like Calgary & Edmonton 40 years ago as Steve Juba was a proponent of it but it never happened. Too much political opposition. Had we had one line built years ago the people would have loved it & more lines would have been installed over the years. However, Mayor Juba was called a pie in the sky dreamer & a guy who liked to spend taxpayers money too easily. Now, the cost is just too much. For example, the City of Calgary, the Feds & the Province of Alberta funded the just completed west leg of the C Train line in December 2013 that goes from downtown to the western outskirts of Calgary. Probably a 15 to 20 minute minute ride from start to finish. The cost was a staggering $2 billion. It is amazing to see how fast you can get places in Calgary with it. The big complaint here with public transportation is we have this great C Train system & terrible bus service to get people to & from the C Train stations. Or the C Trains run late or early but the bus service doesn't so people can't get to them to go somewhere or get home after. Just crazy there'd be those problems & they seem unfixable. But man, for Flames & Stamps fans, light rail moves thousands easily on Game days to the Saddledome & McMahon Stadium. -
Makes our problems in 2012 look like a breeze compared to the nightmare in Hamilton. My gawd, what a mess.

Not wanting to visit sick kids in the hospital last season? How sad. Now I understand why the Bombers only won 3 games. They should have lost all of them.

Sounds pretty similar to what is being done with the Bombers. We have some parking whereas Ottawa has none. Link: http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/0617-col-chianello -
I see this with the Buffalo Media and the UB Bulls all the time.. This is not at all Blue Bomber related but this is where I lost it with them last season http://www.ubbullrun.com/2013/8/15/4623252/buffalo-news-runs-down-ub-athletics Some news orgs just aim to create a problem so they can talk a lot about it... It was fair to say before the season that the Bombers could be one ot the worst teams in the league. New coach, new QB, new everything. But to disimss arguments that it might be better than all of that, or to crap on your team by imagining fans of the other team is something else.. Did you know that the Bulls recruited Chris Merchant, a HS qb from Southern Ontario private school (St. Andrews)? He is a kid who grew up & played all of his football in Calgary. Until grade 11 anyway when he went to Ontario.

The key is make it look accidental & not intentional. Oh wait, this is the CFL No suspensions & half a game salary tops so it doesn't matter how it looks. -
Rugby & Aussie Rules. I agree with you.

Calgary looks like they wont have Cornish for awhile & Mo Price has a broken hand out 6-8 weeks so drop them down two notches even before the game is played. Big loss if Cornish out for any length of time. Losing their deep threat is a big setback as well.
