  1. Few of the NFL owners have to worry about -30 weather, three feet of snow or short construction seasons. On top of all that, they have wall to wall money, which helps. A lot. The weather, while a factor, isn't the most important thing in constructing a stadium, I believe. Making sure to account for time lost due to weather delays is. Which is why 3 years to build an outdoor stadium makes sense. It's plenty cold & windy in Minneapolis, Chicago & New York. They have rain delays in San Francisco. The weather in Denver can be as screwy as Calgary. The difference is that NFL teams just don't tear down their old stadiums before the new ones are built. Or build on the exact same site as the old stadium was located. And they use a much longer timeline. We're talking 70-80,000 seat stadiums. In Dallas's case, nearly 100,000. They just make sure the job is done first. I was in San Francisco in early April of 2012 & they had started work on their new stadium in San Mateo, CA at least 6 months before. The super structure was under construction at that time & it finally was finished this past winter or early spring. Sixty eight thousand seats. No delays, no muss & no fuss. I never understood why the Bombers made such grandiose promises when our new stadium was under construction. None of us would have cared if the stadium hadn't opened until 2013 instead of the rush to finish in 2012.. Hopefully, the Riders are watching & have learned from ours & Hamilton's mistake.
  2. They need to broadcast another game.
  3. Stupid unrealistic construction timelines just like Winnipeg. Should be a three year & not 2 year timeline. Funny how every gargantuan 70,000 seat NFL stadium under construction never has this problem.
  4. Should have been thrown out of the game. Our season would have gone down the drain if Willy tore a knee or broke an ankle.
  5. Buses, buses, buses...
  6. Definition of Calgarys sports fan community.... When I hear some of them trying to act like they've spent time in a locker room & know what it's like to play in a CIS, NCAA or CFL game when they never did, I just shake my head. It's one of the reasons I no longer listen to Sports Talk radio here because it is laughable. Well if you're in Winnipeg, you'll have a reason to frantically try and kick the radio thru the dashboard. hint - rhymes with troy westwood It's the same here in Calgary. Except the media in Winnipeg at least covers both the Jets & Bombers. Here in Calgary, it's all about the Flames. The Fan 960 has the rights to Flames radio broadcasts & that is all they talk about to the point of being ridiculous. They'll rehash the same subjects all day long. I love sports but I'd go nuts talking the same hockey topics hour after hour. They'll give the Stamps some discussion but hey, The Fan 960 is a Rogers station.
  7. Condos Watch, some people will buy into that place & complain about noise & congestion after the first game they experience

  9. If anyone deserves to not only be thrown under a moving bus but then run over, it's Anderson. Total dirt bag.
  10. Here's the story but I understand Anderson got into a shouting match on the sidelines Saturday with DE John Chick & had a bad game as well. That isn't mentioned in the story. http://www.thestar.com/sports/argos/2014/07/07/toronto_argos_acquire_former_allstar_dwight_anderson_from_roughriders_in_cfl_trade.html
  11. Just have to sod the end zones, it looks like. I'm not a fan of the wood facade on the new grandstand but whatever, I guess. If I was in charge, I'd have wanted the money put elsewhere on fan comfort inside the stadium or for a few more extra seats.
  12. I don't want media cheerleaders covering the team. I do expect balanced coverage though. I don't listen to sports radio in Winnipeg online & I try to avoid it here in Calgary because on our 24/7 sports radio station here, (The Fan 960) we have nothing but media hockey experts on the air. Guys who never played sports but are the experts on everything the Flames & sometimes the Stamps. Get sick of the kool aid most times.
  13. Yeah, too bad for the guy. He should be able to come back from a broken collarbone. Perhaps later in the year like October.
  14. I didn't know the rule change, thanks. Well, I think Peach is a lot farther from playing on the Stamps then he would be in Winnipeg. Even though they lost 3 starters from last season, they have a lot of depth on their OL. Certainly more than we do here. Plus, he makes $45,000 on the PR there. If he turns down a chance to start for more money, that's a head scratcher.
  15. Why would Calgary let him go? The Stamps would have to activate Peach on to the starting roster & take a starter off the active roster & put him on the PR. I really wish we'd pick the guy up. Seems like a no brainer to me. No they wouldn't. They'd just have to shuffle someone who's not playing onto the 1 game IR and put Peach on the 46. It would cost them an extra game cheque, that's it. Has that always been the rule or is it changed with the CBA?

  17. One word. Yes.
  18. I think the day of the punter/PK are numbered. Only a couple of guys do it now. The day of the true specialist is upon us. It used to be your regular center also long snapped on punts & FGs. And we had guys like Bernie Ruoff who punted & kicked FGs. Now, each job is handled by 3 different players for the most part. It allows each specialist to just concentrate on their skill & not have to master more than one anymore.
  19. Rodney, how ya doin'?
  20. I am enjoying it. Who's crapping on them? No one. This is a discussion about whether or not the Bombers can win without Willy? No one has been crapping on any player in any threads other than Grigsby's blocking. Chill. Tell me to chill? weren't you the guy that just told someone to suck an egg? and you are telling me to chill? who is crapping on them? Quite a few of you in some of these threads actually. I haven't crapped on the team once this season, so read my posts pal, before you start pointing fingers at anyone. C'mon Iso - say it. I know you're dying to bro. But you gotta remember he had ONE win in 12 (?) starts (I think it was 12 might of been 11 or 10 or 9, TBH I couldn't care less as I knew he wasn't here long term). Personally, I would rather lose with Marve as he has potential and will learn, Brohm second though he did come around after his first two series in Calgary and threw a nice TD pass (maybe you missed that?) The guy you wanted shat the bed in Calgary, it's why he was cut. Yeah, he got cut. That's the way it goes in pro football. Not everyone is going to make it. As far as fans crapping on the Bombers? No way. People are happy. There's no crapping going on. Now, 2013... that was fans crapping on the team. We were furious from the first game of the season right to the last. It's been all good this season so far. How can anyone not love the "No Quit" attitude this team has? Win or lose, as long as the players & coaches fight every game & don't give up when the going gets tough, as fans we can't ask for more. Oh I hear ya there (and btw - I've never taken any of your posts as crapping on the bombers - just the opposite actually. Me I started crapping on them in March when Mack released two QB's outright and brought in two more that were not better than them. I lost it then, then lost it some more when TO's 2nd, 3rd, and fodder came into our barn and smoked us 24 to 3. But I really lost all of it the following week when our so called leader announced we were going to Hamilton and were going to get our butts kicked. Only thing that shocked me, well, two things, 1st that one team (Montreal) managed to, not once, but twice, play worse than us to give us two wins, and 2nd, the only 'pleasant shock', was actually playing well and beating a team (Sask to boot) in the Banjo Bowl. I would have bet we'd of been the first CFL team ever to go 0 - 18, and I still say it was a miracle we didn't. This year is like watching the bombers of old. I love this team again. Even if we lose I'll still love them, cause I wanna be entertained and I want to see effort. If we get that, and then lose because the team on the otherside just flat out out played us, I'd be satisfied. Disappointed sure, but at least I'd be able to hold my head up and say I'm a bomber fan. Last year was disgusting and I never want to see a year like that again. Last season was by far the worst it ever was to be a Bomber fan. I go back all the way to 1965 watching this team. Last year was worse than any of the Zaleski or Reinebold years. It all started with that exhibition game in Guelph & that 52-0 pasting. It just went downhill from there. Yes, I believe that finally you can once again hold your head high. This team will keep improving, MOS has them playing hard & they appear to have no quit in them. #fingerscrossed
  21. It sure would be nice if a reincarnation of Willard Reaves suddenly appeared.
  22. Or 0-6, or 1-7. Nobody comes back from that. Everybody knows it. Especially Wally. Just wondering Nate but if Braley won't tolerate firing a HC with mult years left on his contract, then what is in it then for Wally to step into? He signed Benevides so he totally effed up. It's on Wally.
  23. Changing qbs this past off season has dropped Hamilton from maybe the Top 3 to for sure the Bottom 3. Austin got his wish. If I'm a Ti Cat fan, I'd be very unhappy with the production out of the qb position.
