  1. Well, I don't think that's the players fault. It's Cheveldayoff for signing an older player. I think the guy really gave it his best, especially last season. We gave away a second round pick in the Setoguchi trade, that's on Kevin as well. Yet, he won't get involved in going after key free agents preaching patience & fiscal restraint. Poor advice to the fans after those 2 moves & the payouts on contracts like that. At least Olli justified his salary last season but Setoguchi is a wash out. You don't think he tries on high profile free agents? Rumour is we offered more then what Statsny signed for. The Jets are a small market and a perennial non playoff team. Tough sell to bring the high profile free agents in. It is a two way dialog. Just because we want them doesn't mean they will come here. I remember a time when Winnipeg was a destination. Players wanted to come here.

  3. NFL Team A says to CFL Team B we would like to sign player C, we will give you $X if you release player C. Without waivers player C is now a free agent and signs with NFL team A instead of being able to be picked up on waivers by another CFL team. At least this is what I can gather from the idea, but don't know the CFL waiver process from the old CBA since teams seemed to release guys to try the NFL before without them having to clear waivers. Yes, yes, thank you. I think that's it in a nutshell.
  4. It's hard to do that sometimes. But I'm heartened that you show compassion & understand. Have mercy.
  5. I thought he had a decent season last year. Why all the hate for the guy here?
  6. Braley can go **** himself. Now we know why so many Argo players are allowed to leave in the of season. All makes sense now. Braley's pocketing the money. The more he is in charge, the more he has to go.
  7. You get hung upon words, robynjt. I said. "He'll only get better". Pretty innocent comment by me. I figured it was pretty vanilla & that no one would take exception to such an innoculous comment. Well, was I wrong. You went, "Not true". I never said anything more to mean than he'd improve with more games, reps, practices which is a reasonable assumption & you twisted it around to mean something else, so why don't YOU GIVE ME A BREAK? What a stupid argument. Whether Willy will stink the joint up or not next game after we beat the Argos. Sue me for trying to be a good fan & not looking at the negative.
  8. Willy has great mechanics, throws a pretty ball, has accuracy & a strong arm. He comes from the MAC so he has had great competition playing college football, spent two seasons backing up Darian Durant & played a year in George Cortez's system in Regina. Playing in George's system had to help with his reads & recognitions. He looked like he had the ability last week to make quick decisions in the face of an Argo blitz. So, I am optimistic going forward that he will keep improving. He'll have rough spots but let's hope overall the learning curve is banked upwards.
  9. Why? Just means they signed Hutchinson. Reimer may still be in the mix. The Jets have a lot of room cap wise to do more deals if they want.
  10. Nope I'm not convinced, Fraser. There are Bomber fans here that are just like that character in Peanuts with a cloud of rain constantly over them. Doom & gloom. When I get criticized for just innocently saying that Willy's going to get better & NOTHING ELSE & it's interpreted that I meant he's going to some kind of great qb, then I have to wonder. Of course, I can almost guarandamntee it that if Drew sucks against the redblacks then those same people will come back here & say to me, "Told ya so." Seen this before. Wash, rinse & repeat.
  11. Hope he gets the chance to push Pavlec for the starting position.
  12. Inexperienced young qbs need playing time. That's why Willy was in very late in the game. To get the reps he needed. TC & exhibition is too short. CFL teams should do what some NFL teams do. Have a controlled scrimmage against other CFL team then 2 exhibition games. Players would get more reps. Man, what a brutal weekend it was. As far as Collaros went, he was getting killed out there. I would have pulled him just to make sure he didn't get hurt. The way things were going, he was at risk of a severe injury.
  13. Leave it to some Bomber fans to find coal instead of diamonds in just about everything. #wejustsuckbecauseitfeelsright
  14. People in Saskatchewan & Manitoba are hurting badly with flooding. Let's try a little compassion & understanding for the people affected by the high water in both provinces. My cousin's farm in the Interlake was flooded & they're dealing with it. God knows, we went thru it here in Calgary & Southern AB last June & 5 people died & hundreds of lives were destroyed.
  15. Robynjt, how could you not know exactly what I meant? I said Willy can only get better. By that, I mean that he'll get more familiar with the offense, he'll do his reads quicker, he'll get more confidence, make better decisions, work on the chemistry he has with his receivers all by reps in practice & game experience. I never said he'd be the next Great One. I never said he's an automatic all star, Grey Cup MVP or future Hall of Famer. I just made a simple statement. You seem to think that I believe Willy is the next Joe Montana. It's nothing of the kind. It was just a general comment that players improve with practice, reps & experience. You said, "Not true". You deny that it probably won't happen? I have no idea if Willy will become a CFL elite qb. I hope so but that isn't what I meant.
  16. So, the Negative Nancys & Neds have finally come out to play. All I said was he should keep getting better with experience. I never said he was the next Ken Ploen or Tom Clements.
  17. Well that's simply not true. Nice positivity though! Explain. I'd love to hear your slant. I don't want to put words in anyones mouth but I think she means he could have worse games. All qbs no matter how great, have bad games. How can Willy not get better as a player if he continues to develop & get experience?
  18. Well that's simply not true. Nice positivity though! Explain. I'd love to hear your slant.
  19. John Gott & J'Michael Deane are quality players who'd be starting on Calgary's offensive line if it wasn't for the dispersal draft. I expect Ottawa's OL to protect Burris better than people are expecting.
  20. Trident layers.
  21. Or at least 2001. 2011 season.
  22. Hank does not like being hit. If he gets pressured & hit he becomes the "Deer In The Headlines QB" & starts making bad decisions. If we give him time & he gets into a rhythm our defense will be in trouble. Do you mean "Deer in the headlights"? LOL, yeah!
  23. I just can't figure Toronto out & why they can't get better attendance. It's frustrating as a CFL fan to see this.
  24. Well, they can go play all their games at varsity in front of 5,000 people sellouts I guess.
