What, no one missed the whipped puppy look on the sidelines by Burke?? C'mon!
-
The fans in Saskabush were high on Sunseri saying he was better than Willy. Heard he played like **** during the pre season. That was hilarious... According to them, Tino was the real number two all along, Drew Willy was no big loss I hope Durant misses some games & they have to play that guy.

Willy looks like a cool customer. Looks like the best FA qb from 2013 plays here.

Wowee, Still Can't Believe What I Saw
iso_55 replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I haven't seen an ass whuppin' like this at home since Tom Clements was our qb & Willard Reaves was tearing it up for 1,600 yards a season back in the mid 80's. Looooooooong time comin'. And against Ray & Millanovich. Priceless. -
One problem, the Pacific Ocean. Should we still be looking for Amelia Earhart? I mean, c'mon... It's been 4 months. Maybe you think it's cruel but life isn't always fair. The families may never have closure, we may never know what happened but at some point the search has to end. It is what it is. Nothing can be done.

Who knows, you smartened up. Not everybody does. I still say you do the crime, you should do the time.

It's at the bottom of the ocean somewhere. What a waste of resources. It's lost forever, sorry to say. Move on.

Yeah, pal. It was. All bombers.

All children who wet the bed or start fires should then be incarcerated for life. Can't risk them becoming serial killers. Why do you have to be so generalistic & sensitive when you get into a discussion? Holy ****. The guy was just making a point. And he's right. Those are some of the characteristics. Especially if a kid is 16 & wetting the bed, then that person has a problem, not if he's 8. And the torture of animals. Although it is safe to say that not everyone will become a serial killer who does those things.

I'm a Manitoban originally just like you.... You're in Olds, AB, right? I don't like hangings but I do think the kid who set the fire needs to be held more accountable. As far as the kid who stabbed a stranger in calgary, it really wasn't meant to be a comparison at all. Just brought it up as it was newsworthy & definitly shocking. People here are saying that jail does not work. That incarceration teaches kids to be criminal. That it hardens them as they get older so they reoffend. So, my question was, if you read my original post about that boy who knifed the stranger was.... what do people here think the justice system should do with him if they believe jail time does not work?
-
No kidding.
-
He has a better opportunity elsewhere so good for him.
-
Just telling what happened here in Calgary & how shocking it was. Down boy.
-
Big difference between lighting a fire and having it spread out of control versus stabbing an innocent man to death. Jail is obviously appropriate in that case. What if that kid who set fire used bad judgement & set a building on fire resulting in loss of life? The 15 year od who stabbed that poor guy. It could have been any of us. Or a loved one. Guy went shopping on a Friday night & never came home. Think about that.

The most positive Blue Bomber coach I ever saw was Jim Spavital. He had Grey Cup banners up during practices when they were a team similar to us now. He had positive sayings in the locker room. He was always spouting positive messages. the guy was enthusiastic. But he was also a tough, no nonsense coach with very hard practices. He took a Bomber team that was 2-14 in 1970 to 10-6 & the Western Final in 1972. I think a positive message helps as long as it always isn't a BS kind of thing that the players can see through. As much as Spav was positive, if a player didn't come to practice & work his tail off then he was gone. If he didn't perform well in games, he was cut. If he partied toomuch he was released. He made his players accountable for their actions. And GM Earl Lunsford did a helluva job recruiting & building that team through the draft & trades in 3 years. There was no free agency back then.

We had a 15 year old kid arrested in Calgary this week. He committed a couple of robberies earlier then with a group of other teens had a knife & in a shopping mall targeted an innocent 45 year old man randomly, went up to him & stabbed him to death. Probably on a dare. What do you guys think should be done with him? He was arrested & the Crown wants a second degree murder charge tried in adult court so he can get life with no chance of parole for 15 years instead of a sentence of just 7 years.

Why don't we keep all criminals out of jail? It isn't working.
-
Completely agree, we need to keep these kids out of jail if we can. Canada has one of the highest youth incarceration rates in the world - it's not working. And there is a direct correlation between the length of time an offender spends in custody and the likelihood of re-offending. The Dutch model is much more effective. And what would that be? They all pay their own way? Touche. All non-violent offenders are required to live with families trained in rehabilitative strategies. The offenders participate in household life and duties, go to work but live on an allowance and attend group therapy. The Norweigans and Danes have copied the strategy with success. Here in North America, the recidivism is close to 80%, whereas in Holland it is close to 20%. The cost savings to the justice system is enormous. I'd love to do a side by side comparison to Canada if the stats are there.

Well, we don't know that. But just because it was a shed doesn't make it any less of a crime.
-
An impromptu chat on a Weds nite tonight. Is this place great or what?
-
I hope you're kidding. They gave all the reasons not to punish the kid but I didn't see one reason why they shouldn't. I'm a strong believer in kids needing to be accountable for their actions. Indeed, adults, all of us.

Not to beat a dead horse (although I'd love to)... but isn't that what a leader SHOULD be doing? cc: Tim Burke Nope. Being Suzy sunshine doesn't win games or influence people. But it helps.
-
Well, when a ship goes down the captain goes with it? You can't fire 46 football players but you can the head coach? Any more cliches I can give you? Joe Mack is to blame here. But he was gone before Burke.

Bo Levi Mitchell to get the start over Drew Tate
iso_55 replied to a topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
There's no one behind BLM if Tate is dealt away so he'd not going anywhere unless it's a qb swap with the Stamps. Like I said not tomorrow. But tell me ISO, you're BLM, I'm Tate, it's contract time. You gonna play for backup money? I sure as hell ain't - I'm a #1 QB and I want to be paid like one. That's what I'm telling my agent. I bet you you're saying the same thing yours. Do you honestly think Calgary can support two starting QB wages? I sure don't. To me, this isn't even an opinion, it's a fact. One of them will be gone, and they'll just bring in another guy to be the backup. They don't need to 'now' as the contracts are 'set' but neither one has a lifetime contract for backup money that I"m aware of. And I still say BLM is the man the Stamps want/see as their #1 so there is no room for Tate. This starting assignment is step one. If they can keep Tate healthy and Montreal struggles, you can almost book a trade for something Calgary needs to get them over the top, and a backup QB coming back would most likely be part of it (Marsh would be my bet) but not 'the' guy, most likely a player (starter) Calgary needs at the time will also be part of it. Both did sign contract extensions in 2013 so they're bound to the Stamps in 2014 & maybe even 15. Huff was asked an interesting question at the Stamps Fan Forum in April. The question was, would he be interested in trading to get Glenn back (when he was still with the redblacks)? His answer was no as he extended both Tate & BLM so there is no more money in the budget at the qb position. He also said he knew Glenn's contract very well as he was the one who negotiated it with his agent. Tate is locked up so he would make excellent trade bait as anyone who gets him knows they'll have him for awhile. I think eventually the Stamps will have to make a move yes, but it won't be this season I don't believe.
