He's got some talent if they can develop it.

Marve was so impressive they gave him **** all for playing time in the pre-season. Look I get it, he was good that one drive in the home pre-season game, but he was very obviously behind the other guys on the depth chart and that didn't appear to change at all. He was most likely looking at a PR spot to start the year anyway so if they're bringing in a new qb the most logical place to look at who he is going to replace is the guy sitting #4 on the depth chart. Bang on. Great post. Marve may nor accept a PR spot. Hell, Marve may just get cut.

Only 22,500 tickets sold for home opener

I have season tickets and I don't even live in Manitoba anymore! And, for the record, I lived in Stonewall so it was a good hour home afterwards, and the people I sold them to live in Stonewall as well. Pfff...Stonewall...what a bunch of weirdo's over there. Curled in Stonewall at their curling club 37 years ago. Their Spring Spiel. Natural ice. No ice plant. Temp outside went into the 20's & the ice inside turned to water. We got soaked. I was playing front end back in the day when REAL curlers used brooms & not brushes. If someone somehow got a rock in the house they won. -

I just think it's super sh!tty that we need a buffer between rush hour traffic and game traffic. Hate to say the obvious thing, but building it right includes building transportation routes right. There were public outcrys to consider transportation... the bumbling Selingers just flat out ignored them. I think if traffic had been how it was mid-season right from the start, no one would say anything. You also had an issue that was very hard-driven by the media. I think the big brains involved never drove in that area and assumed having lots of busses would be the end all be all of the problem. Once they realised how bad traffic was, they took steps to improve it and they did improve it. I do agree though. I will admit that when IGF was announced, I was on the other side of the traffic debate thinking it would be managable. It was "worse" than I expected. But I think a lot of the loudest complaining came from people who lived closer to CIS. Because when someone says they have to wait in traffic for an hour to get there, I say "yeah, so did I when it was CIS, so what". Rapid Transit will help. Converting some of those side streets (like Markham and Thatcher) might help too, though Im not sure how they are utilized on game day other then seeing police blockades. With transit & park & ride traffic is no longer an issue. I park my car, get on a bus & 20 mins later I'm let off in front of the stadium. And buses are waiting to take me back after the game. Nothing wrong with that. People are tired of watching a losing team. That's why the attendance is not where it should be. -
Is Waters even with the Argos anymore?
-
I totally remember that too. I don't think there was a TD in that game for either team. Amazing Burris went on & has had a great CFL career. But that game killed his NFL chances forever. What a spotlight... ABC MNF to play badly like that.
-
I remember that Monday night game in Chicago with Burris playing. Didn't he set a record for qb futility in the NFL that night? Brutal doesn't do it justice to describe how badly he played that night.

How about because when they signed the guy they hadn't lost 2 NI players they were hoping could be at least rotational starters to injury for the entire season. Are you seriously missing the point here? It's not like the canadian kickers have been outperformed here, they were all close so if it's close AND your NI depth has already taken a hit with season ending injuries then why the hell wouldn't you expect them to cut the import kicker? Well, maybe so. I'm just saying how many players do both jobs punting & placekicking? White in Montreal & McCallum in BC. I just don't think you can really find those kind of players anymore. So, why lay it on one player like that is all I'm saying.
-
Walters & MOS knew the ratio situation before camp so why even sign him? For competition? There was no competition. How many guys do both punting & kicking extremely well anymore?? So for MOS to say that Maher had to do both better than the other guys when they didn't have to do both jobs themselves??? Not asking much. If he catches on in Ottawa & scores 130 points & our placekicking isn't as good then it was a huge mistake.

The story that never ends.... -
Just going on a hunch here, but I bet you like re-runs too. Try watching re-runs of Seinfeld and tell me they're not still funny! Love Seinfeld.

What makes you think Marve will be the backup? Based on 1 series Week 1 with less than 5 minutes remaining? He didn't shine yesterday when he was in again with under 5 mins to go. How can you annoint someone so quickly with such little body of work? If Hall & Brohm are replaceable then I'd say Marve will be lucky to stick with the team. He hasn't moved up the depth chart & after yesterday I don't think he will this week either. Obviously, the coaches see something in Brohm they like. Not so much in Marve. Prediction: Marve will NOT be our backup qb. hmmmm iso, you're not reading again. Please re-read what I bolded.... see it above? Does it say, anywhere, #2? Does it say 'backup'? No, its says 'groom". As in practice roster, or 3rd string even. The backup job will be fought out by Hall/Brohm. As it stands (and as I said in another post) I doubt any QB will get cut ...... yet. And since you like reading things that aren't there, I shall expand a bit on that for you. Groom, as in Troy Kopp, TJ Rubley, Justin Goltz, Tee Martin, etc. etc. etc. - Marve is the FIRST one I've seen in a long time that is what I feel is worth the effort to groom. Are we good now? Sure, but you're describing Marve as some kind of rising star for some reason based on what he did on ONE series. You do realize that he may not even make the team, right? No iso i'm basing it on the way he impressed at the free agent camp in Florida and from members here who have been going to tc everyday and extolling his virtues. Then I saw a guy come into the game in the last two minutes and look like he's been there before. So I'll throw back at you what you did to me - why do you hate Marve? I don't hate Marve. That's always the lame catch phrase people like you use when they have nothing to come back with in a discussion. Just because someone like me says something you don't like, it must mean I hate someone. C'mon man. You're annointing the kid the second stringer & already there's been a report in the Freep that Brohm is taking 2nd team reps with the offense. That means Brohn has JUMPED AHEAD of Hall who has dropped down to #3 meaning Marve is still #4. Maybe you need a reality check. I like Marve. I have no reason not to. But he had one great series & that's it.But the coaches obviously don't think as highly of him as you do.

Just going on a hunch here, but I bet you like re-runs too. Yeah, I sure do. Star Trek, Criminal Minds, NCIS, NCIS LA, Blue Bloods, Cal Murphy

Calling kpt crunch...

and how did that work out for us? At least we know Messam can play. Etienne? Meh. do we really know that? Etienne hasn't been cut from any teams yet but Messam just got cut... maybe it's time to admit that it's been a long while since messam was a relevant player in the CFL. RBs have a short shelf life. At least Messam WAS relevant. What's Etienne's excuse that he's never been? Oh yeah, he isn't good enough. What a huge waste of a first round pick by Mack. Unbelievable.
-
Throw over the top.

-
Yeah, agreed. If Messam can still play then it frees up an International somewhere else. So, why not bring him in??? I don't get the "We're going with an International at running back" philosophy. So what if Messam doesn't play STs. If he can start as a running back letsomeone else do it. We let Jade Etienne waste a roster spot for 2 years picking his bum on the sidelines doing nothing.

Ottawa is similar to Calgary in that if it isn't the NHL no one cares.
-
That's a great lookin field! Too bad it's 24,000 instead of 33,000 like ours. I think for Ottawa that 24k is a good number. Don't understand why the CFL isn't bigger in Montreal & Ottawa. I can understand Southern Ontario as they feel they are NFL material but Ottawa & Montreal clearly aren't. They should be routinely able to draw 27-30,000 every game & have bigger stadiums.
-
Not much of a difference. Greg Peterson, the former all star safety of the Stamps was talking about padded practices once. He played with Calgary from 1981 to 92. He was saying in his day they were in pads nearly every practice & they did hitting & tackling drills nearly everyday to work on fundamentals. That isn't done anymore. So, the players get rusty & sloppy. That is when the injuries happen. Could this new rule have unintended consequences?

IE. O'Shea was not happy with Halls int at the end. I finally got around to watching the game and yikes that was a poor decision to make. Eat the sack there and they might win the game. I'm glad that you are finally seeing how mediocre Hall truly is. So please no more comparisons to Ricky Ray and dropping passes into the receivers hands. Halls noodle arm and stone legs simply won't cut it. Brandon, we are free to say what we want.

Pierce comes out of retirement? Stranger things have happened.

How much lead time do the media get for these things? Will this be a weekly event?
