There was plenty of sloppy tackling on display. A lot of that falls on the players. They also did not look like they were in position to make tackles on many of the runs. If that happens in the regular season I will be very concerned. In pre-season games linebackers get a lot of evaluation done on their ability to cover passes, as that's the most difficult part of the job for most linebackers. That's the main reason DBs are getting LB jobs in the new millennium CFL. With one padded practice every 2 weeks expect a lot of crappy tackling & guys getting hurt because they aren't used to the contact.

What makes you think Marve will be the backup? Based on 1 series Week 1 with less than 5 minutes remaining? He didn't shine yesterday when he was in again with under 5 mins to go. How can you annoint someone so quickly with such little body of work? If Hall & Brohm are replaceable then I'd say Marve will be lucky to stick with the team. He hasn't moved up the depth chart & after yesterday I don't think he will this week either. Obviously, the coaches see something in Brohm they like. Not so much in Marve. As in practice roster, or 3rd string even. The backup job will be fought out by Hall/Brohm. As it stands (and as I said in another post) I doubt any QB will get cut ...... yet. And since you like reading things that aren't there, I shall expand a bit on that for you. Groom, as in Troy Kopp, TJ Rubley, Justin Goltz, Tee Martin, etc. etc. etc. - Marve is the FIRST one I've seen in a long time that is what I feel is worth the effort to groom. Are we good now? Sure, but you're describing Marve as some kind of rising star for some reason based on what he did on ONE series. You do realize that he may not even make the team, right?

That is kinda the way I saw it based on his throws. He just didn't look solid.

He's going to need it as the stumble-bum paramedics couldn't even lift him into the ambulance properly. I don't know what was harder to watch, the replay of his ankle snapping or the Keystone Kops routine trying to load him into the ambulance. Yeah, that looked amateurish. But I do know paramedics in Calgary are highly trained & professional so I don't know what was up with that.

You can't get by with 6 OL for the season. We need 8 or 10 to cover for injuries...

When they signed Willy, what were they supposed to say, "Hey, we got out THIRD choice... High five!" Willy's their man because they signed their man. Who cares about Collaros & Burris anyway? Yep - exactly! And I for one am happy they got him. I really like Willy. Sometimes the best choice is the one made for you. Collaros is only 6 feet tall & has a funny sidearm throwing motion. He can extend plays with his legs for sure. I was disappointed we didn't sign him, I'll admit that but seeing Drew Willy in action, maybe we did alright.

I happen to think that Max Hall can be a very effective backup qb. The guy may not have all the physical tools to be a long term starter but he is smart. I'd want him around as a backup. As to that other stuff you talk about, I won't argue with you on that. Getting rid of Elliott & Brink was mind boggling.

Yeah, the big secret... It's not okay when another team does it (Hervey) but okay when we do it. Double standard here as I remember Hervey being lambasted about it. We've finished our pre season so I was more curious about our team rather than any others as we have no more games to play. Every other team has one game left. The evaluation process is probably 80% complete for the coaches. We're ahead of all other CFL teams. I want to know if we'll let more players go because we're done pre season. Especially the qb position.

He retired from football and was coaching, wanted an OC job in some lower level college in California, didn't get it, and the immortal Joe Mack figured this bum would be the guy to 'save the bombers' since Buchko's mandate was for Mack to get a QB. I wanted Mack fired last March when all this went down (cutting two guys with experience, signing two bums to replace them, and keeping Buck even though he was two years past his best before date) Agree, and I think that was the plan all along. Though Hall is on shaky ground. I think what will happen, as what always does, is as QB's are either released from the their CFL camps or from their NFL Camps, the bombers will airlift a few in, and when one impresses, they'll have to make room for him, exit stage left for Mr. Hall. I'd say more than that. Caretaker Bob has a real self imposed mess on his hands. He didn't like any other locations that the City of Hamilton wanted to build a new stadium on. They have no venue to start the season maybe going forward into September & October. Where are all the ST holders & general admission going to sit?? I hope Bob has a big back yard. Maybe he can setup a tv and have everyone over for a BBQ to watch the game. Onemoredork over at RF has assured everyone they will be hosting the home opener on July 26th even if it's not completely finished. I'm not sure how you can get an occupancy permit for that many people if it's not finished. Where have we heard this before?? I wonder....
