No kidding. The CFL is far from dead. My gosh, the melodrama is right. -
Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
iso_55 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Wow looks like they want all the new TV revenue. I think if they get over 5 million they will be lucky. Does this mean the CFLPA has given up on the revenue sharing concept and is now okay with a hard cap? If so, that's a huge concession and a positive, as both sides are now speaking the same language. Yeah, the language for both sides is, "You're nuts"!! -

So, they wasted all these months to get to this point less than 2 weeks before training camps open?? What a bunch of idiots on both sides. -

Ask for 7, settle at 5. That works. -
Teemu was a great player but a winger. Pure goal scorer in his prime but not a playmaker. His rookie season was one for the ages, though. And he was a Jet, not a Duck when he did it.

Different era than today. It was the years after the 1979 WHA/NHL merger & still before the influx of Euros helped to upgrade the talent in the NHL. Before they came, the NHL had 18 teams & not enough quality Canadian & American players to stock those 18 teams back 35 years ago. So, there was a dip in talent & for a few years in the 80's goal scoring was at an all time high before the Europeans came & coaches cleaned up their end of the ice. The NHL today is so much tighter defensively now than when Gretzky & Lemieux played. Players weren't as big as they are now, there's not as much skating room, the goalie equipment is better than 30 years ago. Having said that, I still have to go with Gretzky. Gretzky was just a freak as a hockey player. He'd still score 60 goals in his prime if he played in the NHL today. As I said in another thread, Gretzky had the ability to see the entire ice surface all at once & to anticipate the play. He was deadly passing & scoring goals. He never missed any games. The guy was small but he never really got hurt unlike Mario who had injury & cancer issues.

It's not a compliment to the league or players. When you flunk you fail. Hence, flunky. Or flunkey.
-
Sid probably has more natural talent than Gretzky but Wayne had monsters flanking him and had a credit card to avoid regular abuse - even in playoffs. Sidney doesn't have that luxury - more the fault of guys like Shero & Byylesma, probably explains why both guys will be gone from the Pens organization by mid-June. Have to disagree on that one, Nate. Gretzky had eyes in the back of his head, had great anticipation & could clearly see the ice like no other player before or since. The only guy who came close was Mario but even then he wasn't as gifted as Wayne. Not only could Gretz see all the ice at all times & anticipate ahead of the play he had a goal scorers touch. His 92 goals in one season attests to that. If Wayne Gretzky was in his prime playing today with 2 quality wingers he'd still score 50 plus goals & nearly 150 points. Sid is a great player but not like Gretzky or Mario. The other thing, I wouldn't call Jarri Kurri a monster, would you? And Gretz didn't always play with Dave Cement Head...

Kory just can't stay out of trouble, it seems. That does explain it, though. I don't wish the guy any bad luck nor do I think he's a "CFL flunky". Sheets had a great season last year & clearly was the second best back in the league & deserves credit for that. If he can stick in the NFL good for him. Not every CFL fan is a hater & some that aren't Rider fans actually do wish him well. He isn't an easy guy to like at times. However, some of these pro athletes just don't think before they tweet. #DonJones #MoPrice. #others

Actually, I don't know how the first tweet can be taken out of context... Kory#1Time Sheets @Sheets24K It's been fun y'all gotta go study before bed gotta show the haters I'm a NFL back n not a CFL flunky Another tweet later: Kory#1Time Sheets @Sheets24K Paint me out to be what you want just spell my name right Kory not Cory Corey thanks

Check his twitter account. Said that he is an NFL running back & "not a CFL flunky".

I'm almost to the point about not caring about guys like Laurent anymore. He can do whatever he wants for all I care.

My wife likes this beer that has blueberries floating in it. I happen to love blueberries but everytime I see her drink that stuff it looks like a rabbit pooped in her glass.

He may be good for the league if he watches his tweets & language.

Rider Fans asked to help fund new stadium
iso_55 replied to Bomber_fanaddict's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
They already do but it's about half what the Riders will be charging. I didn't know that there was a surcharge to service the debt on the new stadium tied in with ticket prices. -

The new program to raise $40 million isn't going over very well on Riderfans. Some fans think the Riders make too much money now as it is & claim they have over $20 million in assets & money in the bank. They want to know what all that $$$ is being used for as it is a community owned team. Others like bigsexydawg (Yep, that's his handle) is very vocal worrying that this will turn into a seat licensing grab by the Riders pushing long term season ticket holders out to be replaced by companies & younger hip fans. Others say that their taxes are high enough so they won't give a penny. Still others are just resigned to paying more for their tickets every year. On the flip side, some Rider fans are all for doing this program if it means their name's on a brick in the new stadium. Most just won't give their $$$ without something tangible in return. I'd say 80/20 against. -

They owe $40 million which is less than half the Bombers debt so the Riders have a much better chance to actually pay the debt off. Maybe the Bombers should have had a surcharge on tickets to help pay down their debt as well. I do happen to think that the Riders wanting fans & companies in Saskatchewan to help raise another $40 million in additional revenues to pay off the Riders stadium debt after their surcharge of $8 rising to $12 per ticket is greedy. If I buy tickets to a Rider game as a casual fan or season ticket holder then I've done enough. No way I'll give more. I bet a lot of individuals & companies will feel the same in Saskatchewan. -
Sutter Homes White Zinfandel &/or Moscatto. Inexpensive but nice.
