You're the only one who thinks that from all the analysts I've heard & read. They all decry how the Oilers have ignored back end issues yet shore up the forwards. They need to score 5 goals a game to win. That may have been fine in 1981 but not in today's NHL.

Most teams have more than 65 players under contract right now. So, CFL teams have to cut players to get down to the training camp maximum of 65. I wouldn't put too much into this release. All teams are doing it. I wish we wouldn't have a mandated amount for players coming to training camp. If some teams want to bring in 75 players then let them.

TSN lost hockey so why do they need 5 specialty channels? Is this the beginning of PPV for the CFL as they'd put the CFL on say, TSN 5?

Point Douglas is close to Main Street. The area is run down. That entire part of Winnipeg would have to be bulldozed. As bad as the U of M site is for access & egress of traffic it is still better than Point Douglas. But that was the whole point. They were going to bulldoze a good portion of that dump and improve it. And if you're that scared to to leave a football game with 30,000 other fans around you at night then I don't know what to say. I am pretty sure people said the same thing before they built the MTS Centre too. What about people who would have worked at the stadium in PD & left after everyone is gone? No 30,000 people left an hour after the game is over. One thing a football stadium would bring are restaurants. But who would go to Point Douglas when there's no game on & wondering if their car would still be there when they came out?

Yeah, that isn't a nice area to be sure. But the new stadium in Regina is going elsewhere & I believe that the Mosaic Stadium site & neighbourhood will be razed for mixed development after that.

The Oilers have some talented forwards who could have been packaged in a trade for a D man. They're perpetually spinning their wheels as a team. Not going anywhere. They finished lower in the standings in the Flames. The Flames?? Nurse may become a very good defenseman but they needed to shore up their team on the back end from goal out nit waiting for an 18 year old to develop. As far as the Jets go, it's obvious now we need to upgrade our goaltending position. With a great goaltender I believe we are a playoff team. A first round team but that's it.

Our cars would have had to be protected every game. People would be nervous walking in the area.... Slum houses. Slum neighbourhood. A few blocks from Main Street. Picking that area was just a bad decision. A football stadium doesn't spur redevelopment by itself. Go to Oakland & see where the Raiders play. To go somewhere near the downtown, well just where would it have been located? The land would have had to be bought & now we're taking $320 million to build the stadium. But the U of M?? There had to be other better locations. LOL at 320 million, we just talking stadium here now right? cuz that higgins plan was a total redevelopment of the entire area really, that was going to be billions for sure. The money wasn't around. I don't see the area "downtown" either, Polo isnt part of downtown. I was just talking about the land needed to build the stadium. Anywhere they wanted to build would have involved a land deal or swap. Maybe that's why the stadium is where it is as the land was part of the deal.

That 5 year plan in Edmonton sure is looking good, isn't it??? Going on a decade. I just don't want us to be in the same situation like the Oilers.

I have no idea why we needed the feds to make this stadium a go. For the amount of $$ they put in & they dictated where the stadium would be built. It would have been better to build the place to without them & actually build the stadium in a location where it would have benefitted everyone.

Well, what do you expect when there's like 2 media giants in this country? The government allows it. And we pay, pay, pay... Look at the oil companies with the price of gas being what it is. Just like the media the oil industry is like a monopoly & they control prices.

I'd hope we as fans aren't just sheep Nate as you seem to suggest. That we have higher expectations for this team than just being satisfied to be part of the best pro hockey league in the world. I just think a 4, 5 6 or 7 year plan is unacceptable. There's little or no expectation for the GM to build a winner as the team is a constant state of rebuilding. No pressure on ownership & management to improve as you can have a lot of excuses at their disposal. I can accept a 3 year plan but not longer.
