Just one more way to gouge consumers....
-
Dee, when the Blackhawks were struggling just a few years ago they were drawing 12,000 to their building. Chicago had lost interest in the team. Bill Wirtz had ground that team into the ice. When Wirtz died his son took over & changed a lot of things in the way the team was run. It was documented a lot at the time.... They were losing $$ huge.

In essence a seven year plan in total then as Chevy was telling us the same thing he is now when the Jets came to town....
-
What pro teams have a 5 year plan? I've heard of 3 year plans but not 5 years. Teams would be playing to empty buildings if they had 5 years of that. Only in Canada can ownership & management sell that kind of malarkey. Look at Edmonton. haven't made the playoff since 2006. Calgary, seven years without a playoff berth.... Yet both teams are drawing 17-19,000 every game. In Winnipeg, 15,004 at every game. Try that in Chicago, maybe 11,000 a game. Boston maybe a bit more but that'd be it. Carolina would be a sea of empty seats. Management of NHL teams in the US knows that so they seem to be able to build winners faster as ownership puts the heat on than the course Winnipeg is on. Unlike 17, who believes most free agent players would never play in Winnipeg, I believe a lot would for the right price. Chevy needs to be more aggressive signing UFA's & with trades. I think he can speed the process up by a year, maybe more if he did. From what I saw of the Jets last season, they don't look that far away from being a playoff team. They need some more quality pieces & some depth. They are a big, fast skating team. As far a cities go, I can't see Calgary, Edmonton or Buffalo as destinations of choice ahead of us as those teams have even less to work with than the Jets do. We are closer to being a Stanley Cup playoff team than those other 3.

Nose guard for Etcheverry.

Imagine trying to sell a Five Year plan in the US? In most NHL markets down there it would never fly. Other teams find a way to win a lot faster than this turtle like plodding rebuilding plan Cheveldayoff has. Even in Boston, Chicago & Detroit it wouldn't work.

Headline: "Stadium Collapse Kills 15,000 In Winnipeg. Premier Warned But Ignored Danger". Really??? put lives in danger? I doubt that. It's all ******* bullshit until guys like that moronic caller come out of hiding & say it publicly with his name & face to the camera for the world to see. Otherwise STFU.C'mon Al. You of all these lemmings have more sense than that. You're not saying you're against proper safety inspections like the other posters are you?No Nate, I'm saying that anyone can phone a radio call in show & make claims. But when they won't come forward & reveal themselves yet make allegations of building safety then I think it's complete garbage. When I said STFU, I didn't mean you. I meant the guy making the allegations on the radio anonymously. Me be one and the same hence the hackles up? Well, my comments weren't directed at Nate so I don't want him to think they were. -
I've never ordered a WWE PPV & never will but Canadians can still buy on their cable or satellite providers, I assume, right?

Officials to be made available after games?

What's a ref supposed to say? "I blew the call. I'm a lousy ref & I'm sorry?" Bad idea. -

Love anonymous callers. If the stadium is unsafe as the brave caller claims then have the balls to say who you are & go public to save lives. Blah, blah, blah. -
Losing 52-0 in the last pre season game last year vs Hamilton in Guelph. Yep, you could see Burke prepping his team for a lot more of that in 2013. Think O'Shea will leave his veteran players at home this pre season to get pillaged on the road because hell be worrying about injuries? Not bloody likely.

Hope it's a great event. Keep us out of towners posted as to what happened.

I think the fact that there is an 87-88% retention rate is the story here. Not 12-13% of the ST base not renewing. When it's put that way, doesn't look so bad does it? Thanks for nuthin' Lawless. Actually, I kinda agree with iso. 88% retention is amazing given all the problems with transportation, facility, concessions and of course, performance. If they can get anywhere near 90% that will be a miracle. If the team starts to fly a bit - (doubtful but always possible) they could easily get big walkups in droves. The idea of getting more money for a walkup ticket is also valid but remember, if you're at 21,000 there's up to 12,500 walkups available for every game (some obviously eaten up by flex paks and pre-buys for events like Banjo and other rider visit) The potential for this team attendance & marketing wise is actually quite amazing, Nate. But they have to get their act together as an organization....

Bombers Reject Rabb for Board of Directors
iso_55 replied to Nasty Nate's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hey, I'll nominate you. -
I made two games last season & the Boltus game vs BC was one of them. It was the worst performance by a Bomber qb that I'd ever seen as a fan. I mean, we're talking worse than John Schneider or Luther Selbo going back to 1968... As a fan I wanted Burke fired right after that game for being without a doubt the dumbest, most stupid, ill prepared, clueless & useless head coach who ever walked the Bomber sidelines in history. I wanted the man strung up from the goalpost I was fuming. Jeff Reinbold was Bill Belichek compared to him.
-
Yeah, I want to learn the R4 system & get involved with them.
-
I don't follow, Rids. What exactly are you saying here? I'd like to know how many drafted players actually played & got on the field as Bomber starters, backups & special teamers. How many of our draft picks are still with us & if gone where they are now, are they starting elsewhere & what we got for them....
