Why is this even news? Of course we knew that there'd be a decrease in ST sales. I think that 22,000 is pretty damned good. How many ST's have they sold in Ottawa??? Just 15,000 & they are trumpeting in Ottawa how great that is. Really? We've sucked on the field for the better part of 20 years. A few seasons here & there back to back where we were a decent to good team & had some losing GC appearances mixed in. But overall it's been a nightmarish two decades. My feeling is this was Hamilton the team would have died a long time. Teams with better overall records than us died in Ottawa & Montreal. If this was Calgary, they'd be lucky to draw 6,000 fans to McMahon Stadium. So, the team would be dead as well. The fans in Winnipeg should be commended for supporting the garbage this team puts on the field every year. And the brutal GMs (Ken Bishop & Joe Mack) & idiot HC's (Jeff Reinbold, Mike Kelly, & Tim Burke) they've hired in the past. Everyone talks about how great Rider Nation is. The best CFL fans are Bomber Nation. Every year. we the fans show up, take our lumps & keep coming back.

When the Jets were winning back in the WHA days & in the late 80's to early 90's Winnipeg had a huge rep as a great place to play. Winning changes everyone's perception.

That's how politicians are everywhere. -
Canada Football Academy (offshoot of the very highly successful US based National Football Academy) will be there as well.

Bombers Reject Rabb for Board of Directors

I guess wanting True North to buy the team isn't wrong to wish for, is it? Put the BOD's out of their misery. I'm ******* tired of this team always being in some form of crisis. Bunch of ass clowns run this team. -
much better back then but the big 3 (rumble mania summerslam) generally stay the same, the other ppvs... they have always either done just average buys or done pretty awesome buys, depends on the event really. PPV is just a small portion tho of their revenue, its actually a tiny portion, so much so that the wwe network offers ppvs for free for just 9.95 a month. we cant get it here yet. 50$ is a lot to pay 12 times a year... just based on them offering ppvs tho as part of the 9.95 a month you pay for wwe network shows you how little ppv actually means in the big picture to them. Its all about advertising revenues for sure, and thats bigger now then it was back then. wwe makes most their money off house shows and advertising. I remember back nearly 20 years ago, a friend of mine bought a WWE PPV & I went to his house for a wrestling party. I gotta say that was the first & only time I ever been to one of those. About 20 people (all guys, of course) were there. That was back in the days when Owen Hart was the Blue Blazer. Matter of fact, I read later that it was the PPV where he got injured in the...ahem... wrong place when he landed awkwardly on the top rope but gutted it out to finish his match. It was a lot of fun.Ton of booze & food. Like a GC party. The testosterone was going big time that night...

Last nite was not a hallmark evening for Vince McMahon and the WWE. Even Good "Ol Stephanie had something up her sleeve - trying to screw up Daniel Bryan's new wife, Brie Bella and having Kane do the old trick of coming up thru hell (aka the ring mattress). A throwaway episode if there ever was. Even the Austrian Strong Man taking on Jack Swagger for the 40th straight time. As bad as it gets.

Too bad the university won't allow the golf course to be developed into a parking lot beside the stadium. That would alleviate a lot of problems. -
Probably Desjardins with a Glenn trade proposal. Real obvious, I know. Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if that was true.

Bombers Reject Rabb for Board of Directors

Bauer fired the last decent coach we had in Doug Berry. Then he brought in Kelly & hightailed it outta town when the assault charges & Kelly's firing was about to happen. I don't want the man near the Bombers anymore. His time was over the day he quit, thankfully. -
The Attitude Era was WWE's golden days. Look at the **** that was on last night involving the 2 midgets in that tag team match. I mean, then you add Emma, Santino & Fandango in garbage career killer matches. Even the demented masked Kane is crap. Last week he was Corporate Kane getting the crap kicked out of him by The Shield. Now, he's the unstoppable evil monster? That's why people don't watch...

Kane still has potential. His problem is maturity. Some guys grow up faster than others. Once Kane does that watch out. He'll become a Jarome Iginla type player.

Man, this internal stuff. The BOD's is a circus. I wish we had strong local PRIVATE ownership & got rid of all these guys. -

The biggest thing I take from all this is the sidebar about Lyle Bauer coming back if Palliser is elected Premier. Cue the Nasty Nate head explosion, -
The Difference Between Calgary & Winnipeg (Media Coverage)

I agree. I think Winnipeg has more passion for the Bombers than Calgary does for the Stamps. People love the Flames but I don't sense that burning desire that Jets fans have here. I was at the Jets game here 2 weeks ago & they had 18,000 at the game. Easily a quarter of the crowd was cheering for the Jets. watched the game on tv and i thought it was more then half the crowd cheering for the jets, everywhere i looked on tv, jets jersey after jets jersey. It was quite the sight. It was beautiful. I was high up.Both fanbases treated each other well & with respect where I was sitting. No fights. Just everyone having a good time. Flames & Jets fans. We all knew our teams were out of the playoffs so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. If these were Rider fans, there's be a lot of jackoff @$$***** looking for trouble. actually thought there was a fight in the lowerbowl, at one point it looked like it actually. everyones heads were turned. was told 2 drunk jets fans got into a brawl with eachother tho. I dunno, maybe that was earlier in the season tho. Well, in the cheap seats we all behaved ourselves.... The way the Saddledome is shaped with the concave roof & then the press box in front blocking everything but the view of the ice, you can't see much of the stands across the way You feel like you're sitting in a 5,000 seat arena. -

Wally was a great coach but just a complete you know what as a GM. He is constantly grinding his players. If he thinks they can win with the backup qbs he has now if Lulay is injured again then more power to him. -

Uh the raps and the Jays both have a huge following Canada wide.. Just because you don't follow em doesn't mean they don't exist.. Also, just curious if anyone else is kinda tired of everything Winnipeg and bombers being constantly compared to Calgary and the stamps? It's wearing thin.. SPuDs. 17 & myself live in Calgary. Noeller in Olds, AB so it's easy to compare the two cities as far as the CFL & NHL goes. No one else seems to be bothered by it as they shouldn't. -

I wouldn't call it huge. The TV ratings for Raptors games outside of Toronto haven't exactly been great. The Jays have lost a lot of ground since their World Series days. Who follows the Raptors? I don't even see kids wearing their gear. Most people I know who like baseball aren't Jays fans. They like the Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles or the Giants. If Montreal ever gets the Expos back, a lot of Canadians will follow them not the Jays. -
Well, like everything else it's the Conspiracy Theorists & especially the ones that love to blame America for everything will come out of the woodwork now.

It's the media that drives everything in this country. You see it everyday. Rogers pimps the Blue Jays on SportsNet when the rest of the country doesn't care about the Blue Jay or Raptors. Sportsnet now has NHL hockey tied up for the next decade. MLSE own everything but the Argos in TO so they stumble & fumble on page 5 of the sportspages there. It's the ******* national media in this country & I hate it. As far as Calgary goes, you're right. The Flames do little, if anything to market the team. We see stories all the time here in Calgary on their website about the team being in the community but you never hear about it in the media & I believe it's the Stampeders fault. Like I've always said, the CFL is run like a Mom & Pop general store. The Stampeders shut its doors end of November & then virtually it is closed until the end of May. The Stamps never get involved in free agency so there's little excitement in the off season for fans to talk about. They have a shitty stadium that no one likes anymore except the absolute diehard fan who'll sit thru a blizzard at 50 below to watch a home game & can't understand what the fuss is about a new building. All they do is win in the regular season & yep, choke in the playoffs. That does hurt season ticket sales. Winning 12-14 games a season doesn't mean much if you choke every year. I also think losing so much in the playoffs yearly & always at home (it seems) just has turned a lot of fans off over the years. Especially last year in the Western Final when they had SEVEN turnovers. I know Bomber fans would love to have a 14-4 team but quite honestly, the Stamps breeze thru the regular season every year & then seem to lack the character to win in the playoffs. What difference does it make if the Stamps finish 9-9 make the playoffs & lose on the road in the WSF or go 14-4, absolutely crap on the field in front of the home crowd which they do regularily in the WDF? It's not good either way. Going back to 1990, the Stamps should have four, maybe 5 more championships then they have. In Calgary, the organization has a reputation for choking. They can't win their last game of the season. Fans are losing patience. -

Calgary is 12 hours by car to Seattle. About an hour & a bit by air. So, now that the Hawks are SB champions, people from here have season tickets or on on the waiting list.
