Rumour: Jets/Isles to Deal on Draft Day?
iso_55 replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
I don't think of Kane as a black hockey player under performing.I think of him as a hockey player under performing. I agree the race card is just an excuse. -

The double standard of the Liberal-left wing segment of society is comical. Lefties constantly talking about Harper's secret agenda & going online with name calling & saying uncomplimentary things about him, his family & his government. Yet, if someone on the conservative end of the political spectrum says something these same left wing supporters don't like about one of their own like a political leader then suddenly it's all about being bullies & insensitive. It's a two way street. I see insults being thrown at people like Harper by the left everyday just as I do at left wing politicians by the right. No one side is better than the other. Hence the comment to Jacquie to quit lecturin'. -

Point taken Jacquie but you're the one who brings up this crap about Chretien's disabilities when he was the butt of comedians & impressionists jokes for years. -
I can think of three right off the top who know & follow the draft. Rids writes an annual draft guide that is very in depth. Mike follows CIS & is knowledgeable about the draft as does Juran Bolden Rules. The majority of us don't watch CIS so we rely on them & others in the media to keep us informed as to what players are available & where they may be drafted. Your points on whether these guys will play or not is well taken.

If Glenn is traded he won't be coming back to Calgary. Last night at the Stampeders Fan Forum, John Hufnagel was asked if he would like Glenn back in a trade. Huff was quite blunt. He said that he extended BLM & Drew Tate contracts & both got significant raises so he said he doesn't have the money in the 'quarterback budget" as he put it to bring Glenn back. Hufnagel said that he is very familiar with Glenn's contract as he negotiated it himself. Hufnagel also said he signed Adrian McPherson to replace Glenn as he wanted another veteran qb on the roster. He said it remains to be seen if he fits into the Stamps offensive system & will find out at training camp. He said he's also more mobile than the other two so he brings another skill set to the team as a quarterback. On a side note, Drew Tate said today that his injured shoulder is not 100% but he has learned to compensate physically for it when he throws thru his off season training program. Ya da, ya da, ya da, where have I heard this before from the guy? I think I know now why Huff signed McPherson. Tate won't last the season.

If someone called me a gimp or made fun of my permanent limp, I could care less & probably agree with them. Like I said, put away your pulpit away & stop lecturin'. -
Burke let Creehan be a DC & lived & died with him. The only criticism I remember Burke having last year was that he wanted to see Creehan's D be more aggressive, blitz more. Besides, Casey Creehan's a nutcase. Just like his dad Denny was in Calgary. Season ticket holders complained to the Stamps that sitting behind the bench as a ticketholder meant a never ending string of screaming & four letter words every game. Denny had to be reigned in by Dunigan & later Higgins & told to watch his mouth. Not surprised Higgins fired him mid season 2007.

Yeah, myself. I have had 3 major surgeries on my right foot since early 2012 because of severe arthritis that set in around 2006. Google Triple Hind Foot Fusion or Triple Arthrodesis as it is also called. That's the surgery I had. Anyway, you asked. I have no sympathy for Chretien because he never let any disability stand in his way. He became the most powerful man in Canada & he had the power to make or break political careers with the snap of a finger. He was a ruthless politician. Like all politicians, he could be charming one minute & an SOB the next. Don't feel sorry for that guy because he never felt sorry for himself. And he could be as mean spirited & dirty as the Conservative politicians you're going tsk tsk to. -

Oh please, take your pulpit elsewhere. -
Goalie, the guy's body of work in the CFL speaks volumes & why there's more than just a little concern being voiced. Defense is all about structure. How can there be structure without a playbook? From his comments, he just seems oblivious to everything.

You make it sound like it's been falling apart from the start. What are the other black eyes again? The traffic issues that they managed to pretty much solve within a week? Or the *gasp* handrails that had to be replaced?!?!? Or maybe the open-air press box that no fans will ever use, that will be enclosed in time for the Grey Cup and Winter Classics. I guess if you add those up you have half a black eye, maybe. What are the black eyes? Sure, just overlook the year delay, the open press box, having to winterize the plumbing, handrails, cost overruns, the denial by Buchko that the Bombers would never play at Canada Inns Stadium again when everybody with 2 good eyes could see they would & then did & the traffic problem the first exhibition game. If you conveniently ignore those then it's been peaches & cream. Hey, I love the new stadium & hopefully everything gets fixed right from now on but c'mon, man. I'm a big stadium booster & think it was money well spent. We got a great bang for the buck & I'm proud of that facility which makes it tougher for me to take what is going on but I just believe that Miller should have been more open with the damage... My take is that the Bombers don't own that stadium... They haven't made a single payment on their share of the debt so Miller really doesn't have the right to keep the media out. It should be the Province calling the shots with the media not Miller but Sellinger isn't stupid. He just saw Miller take a shot to the chest for his government so as a typical politician why should he or his government say or do anything? When you get a loan from a bank to buy a car or a house and that car or house gets damaged, is it your responsibility to decide who and how the damage is going to be repaired or does the bank get to step in and tell you how to do it. Doesn't matter if a payment hasn't been made yet, the terms of the loan specify that they haven't had to make a payment yet (yes its been renegotiated but it still has been agreed upon). The Bombers haven't defaulted on any payments yet. You can't compare a car loan to a commercial structure that is publicly funded. Sure, the insurance will kick in & fix the damage. Truth is, the province owns the building. They should have final say who goes in & who doesn't. Not Miller.

You build a championship from the goal & defense out. If Trouba develops you don't trade him for a prospect who could be the "next" Gretzky. He could turn out to be the next Alex Yashin. Nothing is guaranteed. Then what?
-
Napkins, anyone???
-
Because he's O'Shea's buddy. This could be a real disaster in the making.
-
Max, it's a story. People do care. It may not have been a big deal had the stadium not gone into cost overruns & delayed a year but it's just one more black eye with the facility. The thing that makes it more "newsworthy" is the fact Miller won't let the media in. We can only hope that this is the last thing that happens.

Yeah Jacquie, Chretien really suffered with his paralysis. So much so he became Prime Minister. I guess you find it politically incorrect & sensitive to say that Chretien didn't speak either official language. -
I don't understand the point.... Give up a promising prospect who made an impact this season for more promising prospects who haven't? Who is going to give up that much for Trouba?
-
I'm talking flood Brandon. Water coming thru the roof causing significant damage enough to close the place down. It would be news.
-
Yes, the last 2 games the Jets played vs Boston & Calgary weren't meaningless games to those teams. The Jets had to play hard to beat those teams & they did. Hutchinson did very well. That save on D'Agostino in the dying moments of the game vs the Flames was outstanding.
-
What a media circus if he makes the team.... He'll sell a few tickets across the CFL. The curiosity factor being what IT IS.
-
If this water damage had happened at the Law Courts Building (it's still called that, isn't it?) wouldn't the news media been in there reporting on the damage? You bet they would have. The LCB was built with 100% taxpayers money. Just like IGF was built with taxpayers money. The Winnipeg news media would have reported the story, shown the damage at the LCB, told how repairs will proceed, how long they'll take, describe how court cases will either have to be moved or set aside to a later date & then the media in a few days would have moved on.... It could have been the same way at IGF. A major news story a few days ago & virtually forgotten by now. Miller in his infinite wisdom decided it wasn't the way to go so now any negative media or reactions by Winnipeggers is on him. Unfortunately, it'll reflect poorly on the Bombers as an organization & it wasn't even the Bombers fault. That's the shame of all this.
-
They'll get whatever the market is paying. Why would they settle for a hometown discount? It's not their hometown.
