Flames played hard last night. They've had tremendous fan support all year with an overachieving hockey club & they really wanted to go out with a win. That game wasn't meaningless to Calgary. The last few minutes were intense. The crowd was really into it. For the Flames & Jets.

I saw Bob Brown wrestle on the old NWA wrestling shows from Vancouver on CTV Saturday afternoons with Ron Maurier doing the shows & interviews. Heck, sometimes even a legitimate broadcaster like Bernie Pascall did the interviews. Nate would remember that show, I'm sure.

I don't see the problem with being transparent & letting the public know the extent of the damage. Why the need for secrecy?

Got it!!! Exactly. -
From what you read? Well, since we can't see the damage your take means nothing as the media hasn't been allowed in to verify whether there's a foot or an inch of water in the suites or visitor's locker room.

Hutch played a strong game tonight with some key saves. The Flames second goal I thought looked weak as he flopped on his stomach & the puck went over top of him. However, he also made some great saves later. One late in the game at point blank range.

Saw the Jets play tonight at the Saddledome. First Jets 2.0 game I've seen. And they won, nice. Without Buff & Trouba. Any word on his injury? He took a puck high in the chest.

Thank gawd water beds went extinct. I hate those things.

Fire the coach? Novel concept. It's more than coaching with the rot going on in Edmonton.

Alex Hall signs with the Carolina Panthers

Just can't see RNH ever becoming a dominating player. Too small. Yakupov, a Russian floater. I like Eberle, He is a very good skilled player. He needs out of Edmonton.

I'd never trade a player like Trouba even for a guy like Hall. The Oilers decided to build their team from the centre position out rather than from the goal & out... And they have some skilled offensive players but the problem for that team are on the blue line & goal. Trouba could become one of the top defensemen in the NHL for years. To me, he's untouchable. We need another solid defenseman & a true number one goalie. Mark Scheifle made huge strides this season.

Any speculation on free agent LB Robert McCune?

Why would the Sun write fairly or deal with the consequences. This is the same chain that gives a voice to the likes of Tom Brodbeck, Michael Coren and Ezra Levant. You know Pierre Peladeau owns the Sun Media chain. Time to cancel your subscriptions or quit buying the paper at a vendor so that separatist stops lining his pockets. BTW he hates Canada but loves the colour of our money. But I digress. carry on.

Mike Kelly tried that. He tried to control the message. How did that work out for him?

I think it's pretty evident that he wants a trade & won't play for the redblacks. Why go to a mini camp?

I've been here since 1990 & I've never seen people as angry with the PC's as they are now. Like I said, so toxic is it that no one has emerged to try to run for leader of the party. Yeah, I think the Tories are finally done, thankfully. Forty three years is too long for any political party to govern. -
Thirteen reps at the CFL combine for an OL is pretty pathetic. Tells me he didn't spend enough time in the weight room& doesn't have the work ethic others do. Some guys live in the weight room. On the OL it isn't just footwork, you have to be strong enough to handle a bull rush as well. Technique helps but I also know some 220 lb offensive linemen with great technique that would get killed. Someone said that 13 reps on the bench press is a red flag. It sure is.

Dave Hancock a Redford apologist is the Interim Premier now running the show. The bad news about the way the government is continuing to waste money seems to come out everyday. New story today about a retired Alberta Health Services exec retiring, given a huge severance & awarded a quarter of a million dollar consulting contract THE NEXT DAY!!! Redford isn't even in the legislature anymore because things are so despicable even though she didn't resign her seat. No one seems to want to throw their names in the ring to run as leader. The Tories look & act dead. Public hate them. Hancock just keeps giving excuses. -
There were a half dozen photos tweeted by an operations manager of the Saddledome. They didn't let reporters in, how would they get in, swim? Mini subs. Well, months, Nate about 3 1/2.

Well, he may do well behind the scenes raising $$ for the Tories. Only time will tell if he's successful. He was gone from the Stamps once the Flames took over. They made it pretty clear he'd never have autonomy with the new Stamps Prez reporting directly to Flames Prez Ken King which is something Lyle didn't want to do. -
Nope. There were some complaints that between the Stampede grounds getting quickly ready for the Calgary Stampede & repairs to the Saddledome that there wasn't enough equipment or manpower to help communities that needed it in Calgary or High River. Some local bitching but at least the Flames didn't have the albatross of asking for public disaster relief funds to repair their building hanging around their neck. Imagine how that would have played out & they were well aware. So, I don't think it was ever an option for them.
-
No Nate, overland flooding. No insurance coverage. The Flames paid the $30 to $40 million in repairs themselves. They never even approached the provincial government for money for repairs. They did it all themselves.
-
Difference being this was an overland flood & therefore the majority of the costs to replace the damage in the Saddledome weren't covered. The Flames footed the $30 to $40 million or so it took to do the repairs themselves & in record time. Reports were that the repairs should have taken 6-8 months. There was talk that the Flames might have to play as much as half the season elsewhere & Saskatoon was mentioned as the logical place to play their "home" games. But they got the repairs done in time for the Eagles to officially reopen the Saddledome in mid September as the repairs went 24/7. I was one of 19,000 fans at that concert.
