I can't see the provincial government having more of a say in running the Bombers as a positive. I believe if possible, the team should be sold. I also can't see the taxpayer being on the hook here. There are builders warranties & insurance to cover the loss. The Bombers or the government (ie taxpayers) won't be left to foot the bill. The guilty parties will.

I had no idea, Brandon...

Yes Nate, go on the internet & you'll find pics. All of the lower bowl was completely submerged.

Rich, not letting in reporters solves what exactly? The premise that there's something to hide? Media attends such things as major water main breaks, disasters & fires to public & private buildings everyday. When the shed at Canad Inns Stadium went up they took photos & it was front page news. No one is saying the media is going to go in with an appraiser & start tallying up the damage. They just want to see it which is reasonable. How is keeping the media out acting professional in any way? I think Miller is angry & embarrassed & I don't blame him as this is just another problem in a long line of problems that just won't go away. However, having a bunker mentality doesn't help. Miller needs to be up front with people. I don't think that's too much to ask. But the facility still belongs to the taxpayer. The Bombers just play there for now, haven't made one payment yet.

Gonna be at the Saddledome in Jets colours to watch them vs the Flames Friday night. Go Jets Go!

Taxpayers funded the stadium, Rich. Therefore they should be able to see the damage. I think it's time some kind of government inspection was done to determine just what needs to be done once & for all to determine all that needs to be done to fix anything & everything. Disagree. As I said the taxpayer is entitled to know the cost of the damage and who is going to pay for it. That is different then letting in media and photographers for the sole purpose of a splash headline and photo. You as a taxpayer can't walk into any government building and demand to see their books and investigate yourself. You can only see auditor reports. This isn't just a "government building". It's a public stadium that was a lightning rod of opinion, before, during & now after construction. The public has a right to know what's going on. Miller's embarassed & he shouldn't be. As I said in a previous post, this isn't the Bombers fault & there's no need to be secretive about it.

It's Paul Friesen, it was always going to be a negative story about the Bombers even if Wade Miller gave him a handy to go along with the tour. That's Friesens entire schtick, be as negative as possible. He's just a bad troll trying to get people worked up. The idea is to channel Friesen's negativity towards the builders and/or architects where it belongs, instead of towards the Bombers. The only thing the Bombers may have done wrong is hire the wrong architect or builder or both. When you're having something built, you leave it up to the professionals to handle how water is controlled. I doubt there is a single person on the Bombers staff who has the credentials to do it. You have to trust the professionals you hire to do their job. If they don't do it properly, you expect them to fix their mistakes. That's what the story should be right now. "Bombers get screwed by the architect/builders" or "Taxpayers get screwed by the architect/builders" or even "Who screwed up the new stadium?" complete with pictures of the destruction and discussion of who's fault it is. Exactly. Did Kyle Walters pick up a hammer to build the thing? How is this contorted to blame the Bombers? It's the architect, the guy in charge of the building construction, the construction companies & the trades themselves. You'd almost think this was Montreal where the Mafia where shortcuts were made & $$$$ was paid off to hide faulty construction. Professionals were hired to design & build the stadium. This is their fault not the team. So, I don't understand why Miller is hiding things as he doesn't have to. I agree 100% with Terry on this one.

He looked like he could barely function on Monday night. His hands were shaking & he looked confused at times. Just to go into Warrior mode for the crowd seemed to take all the energy out of him.
-
I think a stroke would age anyone prematurely if it doesn't kill them first.

These guys used steroids to have (in their minds) optimum matches & to stay strong. With all the travelling they had to take shortcuts & roids was one of them. And they had to perform night in & night out, day after day.... so the painkillers come into play. I mean, just a vicious circle. Look at the guys that checked out early like Rick Rude, Brian Pillman, Eddie Guerrero, British Bulldog, Mr Perfect, Chris Benoit... Jim Hellwig looked weak on Monday night & not well. it looked like it took almost every ounce of energy for him to go into Warrior mode to give that speech. I feel bad for him & his family. Interesting tidbit here. I worked occasionally with one of the Hart brothers as he is a substitute teacher in Calgary. We got to know one another whenever he worked in our high school. Back in 2003 we had a conversation about Chris Benoit who was trained here in Calgary by Stu Hart over 25 years ago. He told me 11 years ago that he was deeply concerned about Benoit & the choices he was making. He was worried that he wasn't going to make it. Pretty prophetic stuff as it turned out.

That's cruel RG but funny.

RG, wasn't that was the Toilet bowl that the guy from Canad Inns hotels wanted to build at Assiniboia Downs in 2007? That was flushed pretty quickly.

Who says it's a design flaw. We just had the worst winter in over 100 years. A building can be designed to withstand weather much worse than normal but not a lot are designed to meet once in a century conditions. Who says it's a design flaw. does it look something like this? Silly, disgusting, accurate , funny! Whoa, easy....You'll hurt yourself.
-
Sure, why not? He was in on the planning as GM. Remember a story came out saying he told the Bombers BOG that the open press box was a mistake? You go first.
-
Oh well, now they can pick whatever colours are in this spring. Insurance should cover this. The stadium insurers will pay the claim & subrogate against the insurers of the architect, sub trades or construction companies. This shouldn't cost the Bombers anything. If it is determined to be shoddy, faulty design or workmanship the responsible parties insurers will pay.

And people glowingly talk about their jobs right, Bluto?
-
Well, Atomic, you can refuse to go out out of your house because you could get hit & killed by a car, a bus your car, someone else's car or a jet engine can fall on your head. Or stay home & die from too much radon in your home, natural gas leak, explosion, fire or a meteorite hitting your home. Maybe you'll electrocute yourself plugging in a lamp or choke to death on a piece of steak. I mean, not have nuclear energy? Replace it with tidal electricity? You do know where you live, right? And... good luck getting the power lines built from the West &/or East Coast past the landowners who'll want their pound of flesh, native reserves, different provincial governments & the left wing enviros who would put up a roadblock to getting the lines built. As well as the hundreds of billions it would cost in construction alone.

Questionable gbill.

I really think we should go back to bear skins & living in caves. Now, to learn to start a fire. Let's see... You take 2 rocks or is that wood? This caveman stuff ain't gonna be easy. Let's ask Neil Young, he'll know. Neil knows everything.

It's only dangerous if something happens signed, Captain Obvious

I like he hands the ball to the officials. Nice touch. Like his lateral movement, able to change directions & make people miss.

Elliott & Jyles both CFL retreads. And they talk about a CFL Old Boys Club coaching network? Better start one for useless qbs too.

Scheifle hasn't shown he's a real pro yet. This is just his first season of playing regularly in the NHL. The guy is a rookie in playing time & experience. He's learning. I'm with 17, you don't get rid of Kane just yet.
